Hyderabad Regional Finals
Little Flower Hyderabad (C. Deepank, Syed Mustafa
Hashmi) qualified for the Regional Finals after the Hyderabad City
Finals. The other five teams to join them from the Hyderabad Region were
Guntur - Vikas High School - E. Hemanth & M. Prafulla Chandra
Vizag - Kotak Salasian M Shameer and MM Abbas
Vijayawada - Nalanda Vidya Niketan: P. Sai Krishna & B. Sri Hareendra
Bangalore:- St. Joseph's Boys School ( Sonal Len Saldhana & Akshay
Krishna )
Mysore:- Manasarovar Pushkarni High School- Hitesh Prabhu, Aanjan
Sullimada
The format of the Quiz was similar to that of the Hyderabad City Finals. The
top two teams from this competition would move into the National Finals.
Little Flower Hyderabad continued their good run and always maintained a
position within the top three at the end of all rounds till the end or Round 3.
Kotak Vizag did a last minute raid during the 4th and 5th Rounds. They were yet
to open their account at the end of Round 3 but ended up with 4th Position
after the competition. The competition for the second spot – very relevant
because two teams would qualify for the National Finals – was between Nalanda
Vijayawada and St. Joseph’s Bangalore. The latter romped home with a 5 point
margin in the end.
During the City Finals and the Regional Finals, the four teams who had
qualified for the National Finals from Cochin, Chennai, New Delhi and Mumbai
were keenly following the entire proceedings. They were analyzing the strengths
and weaknesses of the teams they are likely to encounter in the National
Finals. But nerves can get to the best of the best also. Some of the teams were
spotted listening to music (on the Apple iPods they won at the Regional
Finals). When asked why they were not following the Quiz, they were quite
honest “ The tension is unbearable – we are just trying to pull ourselves
together”
Of course, when you find that questions you have no clue to, answered by the
teams on the stage, you get nervous – especially when you are staring at the
prospects of fighting them in the National Finals.
The final standings were:-
Winners:- Little Flower, Hyderabad
1st Runners Up:- St. Joseph’s , Bangalore
2nd Runners Up:- Nalanda, Vijayawada
4th Position:- Kotak Salasian, Vizag
5th Position:- Vikas High School, Guntur
6th Position:- Manasarovar Pushkarni High School, Mysore
The teams won Video iPods, iPods, Mobile Phones and Watches as Prizes for their
performance in the Regional Finals.
