Kollam - 7th October 2009

More than 1460 students (730 teams) competed in the Kollam City Finals of Aqua Regia 2009.

Aromal B and Derick David from Trinity Lyceum School were crowned Kollam City Final Winners and they will represent Kollam in the Regional Finals in Chennai on 16th November 2009.

Kozhikode - 16th October 2009

573 teams of two participants each contested the City Finals of Aqua Regia - The Science Quiz 2009. Krishnan G and Adarsh KP of Chinmaya Vidyalaya bagged the first prize. They will represent Kozhikode City in the Regional Finals to be held in Bengaluru on 12th November 2009.

Cochin - 20th October 2009

More than 550 teams of two participants competed in the City Finals. Avinash Pai and Giridhar A K of Vidyodaya School won the first position. Aswath M and Rushabh Menon of BhavansVidya Mandir, Elamakkara finished second. Both these teams will represent Cochin in the Regional Finals to be held in Bengaluru on 12th November 2009.

Trivandrum - 20th October 2009

More than 600 teams of two participants each competed in the Trivandrum City Finals. Raman U and Vaishnav S Raj of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan School won the City Finals and will represent the city in the Regional Finals to be held in Bengaluru on 12th November 2009.

Jodhpur – 22nd October 2009

More than 60 students (30 teams) competed in the Jodhpur City Final of Aqua Regia 2009. Pawan Kumar and Deepak Soni of Air Force School won the Jodhpur City Stage 2 Final and will eventually represent their city in the Northern Regional Final at New Delhi on November 23, 2009.

Ajmer – 23rd October 2009

47 teams of two participants each contested the Ajmer City Stage 1 Final. The team of Aastha Agarwal and Anahita Kagti of the Mayo College Girls School secured their place in the Regional Finals to be held on November 23, 2009 at New Delhi after winning the City Final in a nail-biting finish.

Jaipur – 24th October 2009

160 teams participated in the Jaipur City Stage 1 Final. The team from Springfield School, comprising Rahul Gurnani and Akash Gupta emerged winners in a thrilling finish that went down to the wire! They will now represent the Pink City in the Regional Final at New Delhi on November 23, 2009.

Madurai - 26th October 2009

391 teams competed in the City Finals. VMJ School represented by Siva Prasad.B Gowtham.S Won the first place. They will represent Madurai in the Regional Finals in Chennai on 16th November.

Coimbatore - 27th October 2009

496 teams competed in the City Finals. R.Krishna V.Atitya Ragul representing SBOA won the first place and will represent Coimbatore in the Regional Finals in Chennai on 16th November

Ranchi - 27th October 2009

30 teams participated in the City Finals. DPS Ranchi, represented by Saurav Raj and Samyank came first and will represent Ranchi in the Regional Finals in Kolkata on 16th November 2009.

Trichy - 28th October 2009

368 teams participated in the City Finals. Last year's National Champions Akhilandeshwari Vidyalaya won the City Finals and qualified for the Regional Finals on 16th November in Chennai. The team was represented by N. Naresh Krishna and E. Prithvi Rai.

Salem - 30th October 2009

204 teams competed in the City Finals. Monica.M and Kowshika R of Bala Barathi Mat Hr Sec School won the first place and will represent Salem in the Bangalore Regional Finals on 12th November 2009.

Vizag - 1st November 2009

More than 200 teams from Vizag participated in the City Finals. Depaul Public School, represented by Nishant Pani and GVK Vams secured the first position and will represent Vizag in the Regional Finals in Kolkata on 16th November 2009.

Warangal - 4th November 2009

More than 90 teams competed in the Warangal City Finals. Lohit and Harish from St. Gabriel's High School won the City Finals and will represent Warangal in the Regional Finals in Mumbai on 15th November 2009.

Bhopal - 11th November 2009

126 teams competed in the City Finals. Sandarsh and Harshit from Jawaharlal Nehru School won the first place and will represent Bhopal in the Mumbai Regional Finals on 15th November.

Bangalore - 12th November 2009

314 teams competed in the City Finals. Pranav K C, and Shashank H R from Sri Kumaran Childrens Home (State) School won the first place and became eligible to participate in the Bangalore Regional Finals. The teams that finished second and third - Athith K and Subham Nandy (Sri Kumaran Public School (ICSE) and Rooshil Shan and Madhusudan S (National Public School Koramangala) also qualified for the Bangalore Regional Finals.

Mumbai- 15th November 2009

253 Teams competed in the City Finals of the Mumbai edition of Aqua Regia – The Science Quiz. Smt Sulochana Devi Singhania School represented by Sourabh Subramaniam and Kartik Jayachandran won the City Finals and the Mumbai Regional Finals and secured eligibility to represent Mumbai Region in the National Finals in Hyderabad on 26th November 2009. In the Regional Finals, they fought off some spirited opposition from the other City Champion Teams in the Mumbai Region – from Bhopal and Warangal.

Chennai- 16th November 2009.

342 Teams competed in the Chennai City Finals of Aqua Regia - The Science Quiz. Shwetha P and Narendhar G from St. Patricks High School Puduchery won the Chennai City Finals and the Chennai Regional Finals and became eligible to represent Chennai Region in the National Finals on 26th November 2009. They beat the City Champion teams from Madurai, Kollam, Trichy and Coimbatore in the Regional Finals.

Bangalore Regional Finals - Three teams from Bangalore, Two teams from Cochin, One team each from Trivandrum, Cochin, Salem and Kozhikode competed in the Bangalore Regional Finals that was conducted after the Bangalore City Finals. The team from Kozhikode - Krishnan G and Adarsh KP of Chinmaya Vidyalaya won the Regional Finals and became eligible to represent Bangalore Region in the National Finals in Hyderabad on 26th November 2009.

Delhi - 23rd November 2009

More than 340 teams participated in the City Finals conducted at Siri Fort Auditorium. Air Force Golden Jubilee Institute represented by Aditya Gupta and Alisha Narula woon the first place in the City Finals and qualified for the Regional Finals. Also to qualify for the Regional Finals were Shourya Kumar and Anunay Kulshreshtha from DPS Dwaraka and Modern Public School represented by Krishnan Chopra and Sanchit Bhatia for finishing second and third in the Delhi City Finals.

In the Regional Finals that followed the top three teams from Delhi competed with the City Champions of Jaipur, Ajmer and Jodhpur. DPS Dwaraka (Shourya Kumar and Anunay Kulshreshtha ) won the Regional Finals and will represent Delhi Region in the National Finals in Hyderabad on 26th November 2009

The top 525 teams out of the 24,042 teams that competed in the School Level Preliminary Rounds were invited for the Hyderabad City Finals on 26th Nov 2009 at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Auditorium at Basheerbag. After two stages of Quizzing, the final standings of the Hyderabad City Finals Stage 2 was as follows.

National Finals - 26th November 2009

In front of a capacity crowd of more than 900, the top teams from Hyderabad, Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Kolkata and Chennai regions competed in the finals of Aqua Regia - The Science Quiz 2009. On stage were two three schools with a legacy of having participated in the finals of Aqua Regia - The Science Quiz in 2007 / 2008. After an incredibly close contest that saw the top two teams separated by just 5 points with 5 questions to go, the final standings were as follows..
