TANCET – MCA 2012 Analysis TANCET is usually conducted in the last week of May every year. FOr the first time in its history it was conducted in March, in 2012. The TANCET MCA paper was held on 31st March, 2012 from 2: 30 p.m. To 4 : 30 p.m. Exam Snapshot
Contrary to the expectations of the students, TANCET MCA was really a surprise to all the test takers as there were no major pure maths questions. While the pattern for TANCET – M.B.A is known to every one before the test, TANCET M.C.A is only known to the candidates once they have the paper in their hands. Overall, the test packed quite a punch this year, in many ways, as there were new areas tested in Quant as well as in Reasoning. The questions on Verbal Ability reduced by a major extent while the questions on Non-verbal Reasoning, though new, were given considerable importance. Quantitative Aptitude & Computer Awareness These areas together carried around 55 questions in the paper. In the last few years, TANCET MCA had focussed heavily on pure maths questions of 10 + 2 level and some of them tested concepts that are present even at graduation level. This year the questions of this level decreased but the questions on new areas like True discount and Banker's discount, were given. On the whole the difficulty level of quant questions can be considered as easy to moderate. Coming to computers, starting from 2009, programming based / flow chart based questions were given in the TANCET. But this year, the questions on computers were straight forward involving concepts of basic computers, operating systems, etc, due to which the difficulty level was lower in comparison to earlier years. A score of around 36+ is considered to be good for the questions in these two areas. Analytical & Logical Reasoning, Verbal Ability The biggest surprise to the candidates in the TANCET 2012 MCA paper was in this section in the form of Non-Verbal questions. The presence of such questions was also on the higher side - about 20 questions. But the candidates had an advantage with these questions as the difficulty level was easy to moderate. Moreover, the questions on deductions, odd man out, analogies based on verbal ability, sequences and series, calendars were easy to moderate. The questions on deductions and critical reasoning can be classified as moderate. These sections together had around 45 questions. A score of 24+ can be considered to be good. |
