TANCET-MCA was really a surprise to all the test takers as there were easy to moderate level questions in almost all the test areas. The number of questions on verbal ability, as seen in the last year paper, were reduced by a large extent, while the questions on Non-verbal Reasoning, were considerable in number. There was no section-wise division of questions in this paper. As some questions are common to both Quantitative Aptitude and Computer Awareness, we shall analyse these two areas together. Similarly, we shall look at Analytical & Logical Reasoning and Verbal Ability areas together.

Quantitative Aptitude & Computer Awareness

Around 50-55 questions made up these areas of the paper. Earlier, TANCET MCA had focussed heavily on pure maths questions of 10 + 2 level. Some of the questions were of graduation level. Over the last two years the number of questions on pure maths and their difficulty level decreased significantly. In TANCET 2013 MCA, the questions from Percentages, Profit & Loss, Geometry & Mensuration, Permutations & Combinations, Indices & Surds, Mixtures formed a major chunk of the Quantitative Aptitude area. On the whole, the difficulty level of quant questions can be said to be easy to moderate.

Coming to the area, Computer Awareness, prior to TANCET 2012, the emphasis on programming based / flow chart based questions was high. But in TANCET 2012 and 2013, there were hardly any such questions. Most of the questions given in the TANCET MCA 2012, and 2013, were basically from electronics. This year, the difficulty level of the questions was also reduced when compared to that of 2012. Besides electronics, there were some straight forward questions involving concepts of basic computers, operating systems, etc. A score of around 30+ is considered to be good for the questions in these two areas. T.I.M.E students who practised our material on a regular basis and took the TANCET Mocks seriously must have found these questions simple.

Analytical & Logical Reasoning; Verbal Ability

Around 45- 50 questions made up these areas of the paper. The number of questions on Non-Verbal Reasoning was on the higher side - about 15 questions. More over, there were questions on counting the number of triangles, quadrilaterals, etc., which were slightly tedious. Since the difficulty level of the questions from the areas - sequences and series, odd man out, analogies based on verbal ability - was easy to moderate, candidates could easily answer these. The questions on deductions and critical reasoning were moderate to difficult. A score of 23+ can be considered good.
