Verbal & Logical Ability
Some of the students would generally have banked on this section before going
into the exam. But, they were given no respite whatsoever by the language
experts as well. The section tested the depth in the students' understanding of
the language, context and their ability to use reasoning, spot the logic etc.
Multiple interpretations were possible in the first reading of many questions
and hence thorough and repeated reading was essential just to understand many
questions.
This section had questions from the Reading Comprehension, Verbal and Logical Reasoning areas. The passages were quite short, as
usual in XAT, but were quite difficult to read and understand. The number of
choices would make its maximum impact in this section, with the students having
more to read, understand and interpret.
The LR questions, which were quite a few, took the cake in in terms of difficulty. The passage
on "Order" was the toughest of the lot. Questions on strengthening/weakening
arguments had a good share this year. The PFQs needed time to solve, and were
difficult.
The cut-off is expected to be around 15-16
