Essay Topic: Listening is a dying art. We hardly listen to understand. We only listen to refute or reply.

The topic being easy to understand and direct in its statement would have left the student with a plethora of ideas. Discretion in choice of thoughts presented and logical flow would have been the only challenge, if any.
