The Guntur Edition of Aqua Regia 2007 took place on November 3, 2007. Guntur is world-renowned for production of top-quality tobacco, chilly, and cotton. It is equally well-known for the presence of a large number of educational institutes.

Around 2600 students (1300 teams) took part in the School-level Prelims. Of these, 160 teams were short-listed for the Guntur City Prelims.

After a tough fight in the City Prelims Round, the following six teams made it to the On Stage Finals.

(a) Indian Springs: N. Naresh Kumar & K. Gopal Rao (both of Class X)

(b) Dr. K. L. P. Public School I: B. Vinaya Babu & M. Susmitha (both of Class IX)

(c) Dr. K. L. P. Public School II: Rishbha Godara (Class X) & Monica Ponnam (Class IX)

(d) Vikas High School: E. Hemanth & M. Prafulla Chandra (both of Class X)

(e) The Central Public School: P. Praveen (Class X) & T. Sai Nagarjuna (Class IX)

(f) Little Flower E. M. School: B. Swapnika & A. V. S. Manogna (both of Class X)

The first two rounds – Blast Off and Spectrum – turned out to be pretty high scoring. By scoring well in the first two rounds, the all-girls team of Rishbha Godara & Monica Ponnam from Dr. K. L . P. Public School II took an early lead, which they held on to till the penultimate round.

Breathing down their neck was the all-boys team of E. Hemanth & M. Prafulla Chandra from Vikas High School. Just 12 points separated the top two teams at the beginning of the final round – Salvo, which of course, as you know, is a Rapid Fire round.

It is said that those who hold their nerves tight in close situations, come off trumps. And this is what happened in the final round: the duo from Vikas High School just managed to squeeze past the girl duo from Dr. K. L. P. Public School II to emerge as the winners of the AR Guntur City edition.

The final standings at the close of the quiz were as follows:

Winners: Vikas High School - E. Hemanth & M. Prafulla Chandra

First Runner-up: Dr. K. L. P. Public School II - Rishbha Godara & Monica Ponnam

Second Runner-up: Little Flower E. M. School - B. Swapnika & A. V. S. Manogna

Fourth Place: The Central Public School - P. Praveen & T. Sai Nagarjuna

Joint Fifth: Dr. K. L. P. Public School I - B. Vinaya Babu & M. Susmitha and Indian Springs -N. Naresh Kumar & K. Gopal Rao
