Kollam City Finals
The Kollam City Finals of Aqua Regia-The Science Quiz 2007 was conducted on 5th October 2007. In the preliminary rounds conducted in 141 schools, 10,542 students competed. From these 621 teams of two participants each were selected for the First Round of the Kollam City Finals.
The City Finals started at 10:30 AM with the Preliminary Round at the end of which the top 6 teams were selected for the on-stage event.
The on-stage finals lasted for a little over 90 minutes and at the end of a hard day of quizzing, the final standing were as follows:

The students from Sabarigiri Residential School will represent Kollam in the Regional Finals of Aqua Regia scheduled to be conducted in Cochin on October 17, 2007.
All the finalists on stage were students currently studying in the 10th Std., except the students from Nehru Memorial HSS. And they nearly pulled off a victory, faltering only in the last two rounds. These students, Vishnu Nandan and Jithen L Jacob are currently studying the in the 8th Std. and their magnificent performance and competitiveness was greatly appreciated by the 1200 + audience.
Mr. Ajay Antony, Course Director, (Engineering / Medical) T.I.M.E. was the Quiz Master and Veega Land, The Amusement Park was the lead sponsor.
The on-stage finalists won a total cash prize of Rs.25,000/- from T.I.M.E. and other gifts from Veega Land.
The audience too had their share of excitement as there were plenty of audience prizes like T-Shirts, Caps and Footballs. Most of these were thrown into the various sections of the audience. One of the footballs thrown by the Quiz Master to the farthest section of the audience missed its flight path completely and landed on the laps of a girl participant who was caught completely unawares. To make up for the mishap, the student, Deepika, was called on stage and was allowed to carry as many prizes as she wanted. She and her partner also won a free upgrade to one of the front row seats to witness the hotly contested on-stage finals.
Mr. Ajit Kumar IPS, S P of Police, Kollam was the Chief Guest and he gave away the prizes to the top 6 teams.
All the teachers and parents who reported to the venue could not be accommodated inside the auditorium. A big screen was provided outside the auditorium and the event was shown live on the screen for the benefit of the people who could not find a place inside.
