Kozhikode City Finals
The Kozhikode City Finals of Aqua Regia-The Science Quiz was conducted on October 15th 2007. 586 teams of two participants each from 82 schools in Kozhikode participated in the City Finals. After the audio visual preliminary round, the following teams qualified for the on-stage finals.

One of the team members from Airport Senior Secondary School was not present when the results were declared. Apparently he had gone out of the premises. As with the tradition of Aqua Regia, the events went exactly as per schedule and the results were declared at 12:00 noon sharp. This was the first time in the history of the national circuit that one of the teams qualifying had to default. The Quiz Master then invited the two teams that were tied for the 7th spot – Himayathul Islam and St. Joseph Boys. With nothing separating these two teams, the decision of who will replace Airport Senior Secondary School was decided by the flip of the coin. Heads was the call by Himayathul Islam and they called correct.
The on-stage quiz lasted for 90 minutes. Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan 2, lead the quiz right from the 1st round till the end of the 5th round. But the aggressive quizzing by the boys of Navajyothi saw the quiz being decided on the very last question of the competition. It was indeed and edge of the seat thriller for everybody. There was enough excitement throughout the event to match that of a 20-20 cricket match. The 1400 + audience enjoyed the event thoroughly and the auditorium was packed to capacity even during the prize distribution. The Centre Directors of T.I.M.E. Kozhikode Ms. Narmada Subhash and Mr. Nishad Gopuram invited the Principal of Chinmaya Vidyalaya School, the hosts of the event for the prize distribution. The Principal, after the ceremony addressed the gathering and remarked that her only spot of bother was that most of the students from the host school could not get inside, as the auditorium was bursting at the seams.
Earlier in the day, Mr. Jayatilak IAS, the District Collector of Kozhikode lighted the lamp and inaugurated the event. A quiz enthusiast himself, he was actually too keen to be present when the invite from T.I.M.E. reached him.

Auxilium Navajyothi will represent Kozhikode in the Regional Finals in Cochin on 17th October. The students from Bharathiya Vidya Bhavan, who were literally in tears after losing by a whisker, were ecstatic when the Quiz Master announced that they would also be participating in the Regional Finals in Cochin. As per the format of the Quiz, the highest scoring team from among the second place winners of the events in Trivandrum, Kollam and Kozhikode also would qualify. Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan beat the score of Loyola School, Trivandrum, to secure this berth.
One of the highlights of the day’s proceedings was the exhibition of brilliance from Alvin, a Student from St. Josephs School. He had secured two audience prizes by answering some tough questions. Just before the start of the on-stage finals, one student approached the Quiz Master and informed him that Alvin could place the names and atomic numbers of all the elements of the periodic table. Mid-way through the on-stage finals, the Quiz Master invited Alvin on the stage and enquired if this was indeed the case. Alvin replied in the positive. What followed was nothing short of a display of excellence. The Quiz Master drilled Alvin with questions on the periodic table in front of a gathering of 1400 + people. And every time Alvin came up with the correct answer. The gathering gave him a standing ovation and the organizers showered prizes for his performance. Mr. Ajay Antony, Course Director, (Engineering / Medical), T.I.M.E. conducted the Quiz.
