BITSAT - A Premier Engineering Entrance Exam

BITSAT is a computer based online test for Admission to Graduation programs in Engineering of BITS(Birla institute of Technology and Science) Campuses in Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad. The competition for this exam is very intense. For BITSAT 2016, around 2 lakh aspirants registered to take the test. In 2015, around 1.96 lakh aspirants registered and 1,64,000 appeared for BITSAT for around 2,200 seats available in various BE (Hons.) programmes in BITS. BITS-Pilani Hyderabad campus has started international admissions from the academic year 2015. Apart from the eligibility criteria regarding the Qualifying examination,SAT scores were considered for the admission process. SAT score cut off was as high as 2200. BITSAT Application Form and Online Registration:

BITSAT aspirants had to register their names for BITSAT-2016 by filling the online application form. The print out of the filled form had to be preserved for future reference.

BITSAT 2016 Application Fee: Rs. 2090/-(Rs.1590/- for female candidates)

BITSAT Syllabus:
The BITSAT-2016 test was be conducted on the basis of NCERT syllabus for 11th and 12th class. For more details about BITSAT exam syllabus click here.

BITSAT Pattern:
BITSAT is a 3 hour exam without breaks.

The test consists of four parts:

Part I     :   Physics
Part II    :   Chemistry
Part III   :   (a) English Proficiency and (b) Logical Reasoning
Part IV    :   Mathematics (For B.E & B. Pharm candidates) or Biology (For B. Pharm candidates)

All questions are of objective type (multiple choice questions); each question with choice of four answers, only one being correct choice. Each correct answer fetches 3 marks, while each incorrect answer has a penalty of 1 mark.

Unattempted questions are given zero marks. There will be 150 questions in the BITSAT paper. The number of questions in each part is as follows:

There are no sectional time limits in BITSAT exam. The candidate can freely go back and change any of his/her answers among the 150 questions.

If a candidate answers all the 150 questions (without skipping any question), the candidate will have an option of attempting 12 (twelve) bonus questions, if there is still time left. These extra questions will be from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology only; four questions from each part. Further, once the candidate has opted for extra questions, he cannot go back for correction of any of the earlier answered 150 questions.
