Preparation Tips for Quantitative Aptitude Section!
(Chat Transcript)

champak: hi any1 there?
raghunath: yes Raghunath here

tessy: could you pls tell me which are the main areas of quant that i need to focus on??
kranthi: all areas are important.

cats: could u please tell me the approch to select easy ques on quant !!!!!!
raghunath: By working out our study material and connected questions on a topic, you will be ina position to understand which questions are easy and which take time to answer,

pagalguy: Hi....i have this perpetual problem in solving qstns on Probability and Permutations Combinations....i have gone through the material and solved qstn too but invain...any tips?
shyam: The perpetual problem exists bcos u probably are getting exposed to new models each time u try. I don't think u face a problem when u see similar questions, it is one way good that u see new problems learn from ur mistakes. Try to figure out ur mistakes and work on them.

dilip: Sir, I havent actually started my prep for Quant, I started my prep a month ago and i concentrated on DI and verbal the whole month. Please guide how to go about from now. Just to inform u that i am basically good at maths right from my school days. Keeping this mind please guide how to go about it...
kranthi: attend the classes regularly solve all the problems given in the basic book thoroughly identify revision category questions .after completing the basic study material go to the next booklet given on quant from there on to tpbs and aimcats.spare 2hrs every day.be in touch with ur faculty member about doubts.

tessy: what is the minimum qualifying marks for quant section??
shyam: it is relative it depends on performance of others but ideally one should look at scoring at least 30% to be sure of clearing the cutoffs

krishna: I have been getting a 98.5 to 99+ percentile consistently in the aimcat.what should I do to improve it ?
shyam: Decent percentile try to improve u r attempts a bit

krishna: Do the iims check the overall percentile in giving calls or they even look at the sectional percentiles.suppose I get 92,94,99.8 in the three sections and 99.3 overall will I get a call from the iim –a,b,c.
kranthi: u have to clear the cutoffs in all sections as well as overall cutoff.

anky: though i am clear abt my formulas n concepts , when attemptin the questns onl9,under time makes me feel tense n i leav out d qustns wich i am latr abl 2 solv.how shud i improve upon dis?
kranthi: taking tests regularly will give the required confidence however if ur problems run deeper than that try relaxation techniques like meditation etc.

rahul rai: hey currently i havent done algebra pnc and geomentry in quant but i'm managing quant %iles of 98+
raghunath: While i am about your getting 98+ percentile, it is not advisable to ignore any chapter and probably you are missing easy questions and missing out 99 + percentile

rahul rai: should i attempt finishing those portions, if yes by when
raghunath: yes

intuitive2learn: Given the reduced number of questions for quant, which topics do you think are relatively more important this time around?
shyam: In such a situation u may expect a paper wherin each question may require u to be comfortable in multiple areas, so prepare well

aman: HELLO SIR MY PROB IS DAT MY ACCURACY IN QUANT IS LESS IN AIMCATS THAN AT HOME PLS HELP...
shyam: First analyze is it due to higher difficulty level in aimcat are u putting time limits at home. if rest everything is same still u performance is low it is due to exam pressure try to overcome that

p: SIR,IS IT NECESSARY TO SOLVE QUESTIONS FROM BASIC BOOK BEFORE ATTEMPTING MOCKCATS OR CRT'S.AS QUESTIONS IN AIMCAT IS OF A HIGHER DIFFICULTY LEVEL
shyam: These basics will make u understand where u are weak and hence can work on them before going for more difficult level questions, if you are good at your basics then u can work on ur application skills

diya: I AM VERY WEAK IN QUANT SO COULD U PLS TELL ME WHAT ARE THE EASY CHAPTERS I SHOULD FOCUS ON??
raghunath: Meet the faculty in your centre and get an assessment made

cat2009: Sir, I am able to clear the cut offs in QA in most of the tests.. how to improve the score in that infact how to maximise the attempts.. suggest me..
kranthi: work on areas u are weak in and analyse the reasons for ur mistakes.

rachel: HI SIR, WHAT IS MORE IMPORTANT TO SOLVE QA. OTHER THAN PRACTICE.
kranthi: an interest in the same .

anky: sir,the actual time 4 solvn sums is 2hrs 15min.wt strategy shud b applied now?
raghunath: Divide the time 40 min for each section and keep a buffer time of 15 min. to take care of cutoof related issues & maximising scores

cats: please suggest me the method to rem so many formulas of quant ..???
shyam: revise them on a daily basis, try to derive them at least once and apply them many times this will help

gaurav: sir my accuracy in aimcat is very low what i should do to improve it
kranthi: analyse the reasons for mistakes immediately after u take the exam and work on them.also find out the concepts where u lack clarity and work on them .Do not hesitate to take help regularly.

raju: SIR,IS IT NECESSARY TO SOLVE QUESTIONS FROM BASIC BOOK BEFORE ATTEMPTING MOCKCATS OR CRT'S.AS QUESTIONS IN AIMCAT IS OF A HIGHER DIFFICULTY LEVEL diya: I AM VERY WEAK IN QUANT SO COULD U PLS TELL ME
raghunath: Yes. To share an information in CAT 2008, there were seven questions which were replica of questions in our basic study material. Please draw a time table for completing the various chapters in quants and complie the list of questions in AIMCATs chapter wise to be looked at alongwith chapter wise revision. The second revision should start in october and the third revision should take place in November

chintu: Sir, with the the details out for the Online CAT 2009 and cleary mentioned that the questions would be less in number .So wht's ur opinion on this?
shyam: Let us not guess pls prepare seriously

bhumi: WHICH BOOKS SHOULD I USE FOR QUANT PREPARATION??
kranthi: time material is more than sufficient.

rachel: VERY DIFFICULT LEVEL QUESTIONS ARE EXPECTED FROM WHICH CHAPTER ? PLEASE SUGGEST.
kranthi: can come from any area.however those questions will be the ones u attempt after u are through with relatively easier ones.

nrmstar: Sir, I find that questions in Notes,Test Papers and SM911 to 915 are muc easier to solve but when we appear for AIMCATs application of theory seems difficult. Is it Ok as now 2 months are left we first do thoroughly all AIMCATs first then notes if time permits??? Plz answer.!!
raghunath: Notes along with connected questions in AIMCAT should done together. As i have already answered, seven questions in CAT 2008 were replicas of questions in Basic Study material. It should be possible to go through notes and revise them along with AIMCAT questions

p: WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO COMPLETE NUMBERS AND GEOMETRY CHAPTER PROPERLY
shyam: Pls do as many (different) questions as possible after u finish ur basics.

cats: at this stage , one should spend hw much amt of time on quant so that at the end we'll have a gud grip on the basics + to make a decent %tile in quant section ????
shyam: ideally should be spending about 2 hours on quant per day

nrmstar: Sir, I find that questions in Notes,Test Papers and SM911 to 915 are muc easier to solve but when we appear for AIMCATs application of theory seems difficult. Is it Ok as now 2 months are left we first do thoroughly all AIMCATs first then notes if time permits??? Plz answer
raghunath: see my answer to the question from raju

alexander: good eve.... how can silly mistakes in quant and also other areas be avoided?
kranthi: read the question carefully. do the rough work neatly.do a random recheck of calculations.

chandra: hello sir !good evening some times i score well in quant some times i fail to clear cut offs how to maintain consistency?
raghunath: Ascertain in what papers you have scored well in quants and in what type of paper you have not done well. see the distribution of questions in these papers. Perhaps you have not revised all chapters thoroughly and adraw a time table for completing complete revision by September, the second revision and 3rd revision by october and november respectively.

nitin_88: sir,in quant, can i skip the geometry portions as my base is not so strong in it..im pretty good with other quant topics..
kranthi: do not skip any topic this the right time to address ur weak areas u must not let an easy question go just because it is from the area u have not covered.

sachin: The quant questions in JMET is quite high. What extra preparations is needed for that
shyam: U need prepare for additional topics like calculus, Linear programming, matrices etc, need to be good at intermediate level mathematics

a.j: Sir, I know the basics quite o.k, but my speed is low . whichever question i attempt iam able to do it,, But since my speed is low i end up attempting very few question and in turn low marks ... Please suggest some tips to improve speed? pls
shyam: Being OK with the basics may mean that u solve a question but not necessarily with the same speed as u want to but u need to be good at your basics speed follows. please work to perfect u r basics

rachel: WHICH LEVEL QUESTIONS ARE EXPECTED FROM TRIGONOMETRY.
kranthi: basic level.

muc9a203: hello sir i started my preparation before 2 months i completed 95 % questions from times quant book now i want to know which qustion set i should refer for further practice of cat like quant question; also that im not from maths background
raghunath: Complete the remaining 5% of the questions. take our TG MC CAT replica tests AIMCATs and seggregate questions according to chapters and revise the questions along with basic study material.Take on line practice tests.

shweta: Sir, Actually I am a Time Test series student n I m solving Trishna Book so will it be enough?
shyam: it is a good book solve all questions and also look out for solving more different questions

aman: I M VERY POOR IN GEOMETRY HOW CAN I IMPROVE IT?
shyam: work on the basics first, understand all formulas and then do as many different questions as possible, do not just by heart the concepts try n understand them

aakanksha: sir i m nt vry gud at quant so wat shud be my strategy wan cat is just 83 days away i mean wich topics shud i focus more now.....??????
shyam: first of all be good at the basics of all topics and then towards the end limit your focus on major areas which u would like to concentrate on

tessy: mam,how is it that when i do a pencil and paper test i am able to solve questions faster but not so on online tests??
shyam: No Mam's out here, but to ans ur questions it is only that u need to practice more online to become comfortable and pls remember almost everyone would face this problem

jai: how many questions should i attempt correctly to clear the cut off in cat exam irrespective of difficulty level?
shyam: It cannot be irrespective of difficulty level but in a typical paper about 35-40% can make sure that u clear cutoff

a.j: Dear sir, Is it 100% sure that the no. of questions will be 60 - 70 and time will be 2:15?? since they have said so?? or there can be changes still??
shyam: It should be on the expected lines

chunmun: Sir, Is it important to know all the details(planning management, business strategy, how the the company market there product ,organisational structure etc) about the various industries? By knowing this all details as mention above will help me to face the interview confidently as i am currently working in Infotech Enterprises Ltd.My time card No and batch code is HYC0C025 , CK01 respectively.
kranthi: you should have thorough knowledge of ur work and organisation.

muc9a203: also tell me if it is ok if i have developed intrest in maths during preparation should i maximise on quant in cat what would b strategy plz help
kranthi: do not over alocate or under allocate time to any section.spend at least 40 minutes in each section and after having ensured u have cleared the cutoff go to maximise ur marks.

monu: sir,i have completed 5 chapters of sm101001 booklet..but i m not having confidence in solving questions on quant?? and is it very necessary to do ex 1 and ex2 completely?? i usually do crq, most of ex 1,few of ex2..
shyam: ex1 is generally solved in class u need to do ex2 completely as it will help u understand u r comfort levels with regards to basics

sachin: now since the cat is cbt ,it is very time consuming to move to questions using only the next and previous buttons.is it worth fixing a strategy? i start with the verbal but suppose that section is last in the ppr? what to do? Will there be three different sections in CAT? or all questions will come randomly..no particular sections
raghunath: You should be able to navigate to the section you want. at this stage it look quite nebulous and we will come with the strategy after studying the little further

muc9a203: sir if cat is going online will it happen that DI sets completely missing and more prefence is given to LR
shyam: NO

aakanksha: sir how many correct ques in quant sec enuf to be able to clear the cut off???
kranthi: depends on the difficulty level of the paper.in anormal case 25 percent can help u clear the cut off.however nothing sacrosanct about the same.

nitin_88: sir, usually from which area of the quant does the maximum questions come??
shyam: It keeps changing but being good with concepts and properties of numbers and equation making skills are very imp

babai: HOW MUCH TIME SHOULD I GIVE FOR QUANT STUDIES IN HOME FROM NOW ?
raghunath: Depends on your score and the time you are able to allot for CAT preparation. If you indicate your %iles i will be able to give further suggestions

cats: sir i m getting around 70-80%tile in quant and trying hard to improve my %tile but it didn't . Please suggest me some gud measures so that i can follow it and improve my %tile .........
shyam: analyze u r mock performance see which topics u r facing a problem in, what topics are u not attempting and focus on improvement in those areas

intuitive2learn: A reason for worry in the recent AIMCATs is my accuracy :( Most of the questions that I am missing are shell questions(looks like I marked them right, but am getting wrong). Could you please suggest ways to improve accuracy. Crosschecking before moving to next question is one thing which I am finding right away.. but, please provide any additional inputs!!
raghunath: list out all the questions where you have got it wrong. Identify whether error is due to not reading the question properly(like which of the following is not true is read which of the following is true), not understanding the question itself properly , arithmetical errors.Chalk out a programme for eliminating arithmetical error. read the question carefully and fully identify its implications.

cats: at this stage , one should spend hw much amt of time on quant so that at the end we'll have a gud grip on the basics + to make a decent %tile in quant section ????
raghunath: You should spend atleast 2 hours per day to get clarity on the topics and for revision.

chikky: SIR PLS TELL ME THAT IF I DO JUST 12 QUES WITH 80% ACCURACY THAN IS DIS ENOUGH
raghunath: If one goes by what has happened in CAT 2007 & CAT 2008, it could be sufficient if CAT 2009 is of similar difficulty level. However the questions attempted would on the difficulty level of the paper.

aakanksha: sir are 83 days enuf to complete mastery over quant...and clear cat??
raghunath: 83 days are enough to secure scores that will clear the cutoff levls. But the level of concentratio should be of the highest level

shoubhik: first of all, happy teacher's day sir..now can u plz give a brief idea about the question paper..i mean a proforma-generally i'm easy with permutation,combination,geometry..but not up2 d mark with d other topics such as time & distance etc..what should i do?wat should be d time given to maths???
raghunath: At least 2 hours per day for quants and work out on chapters you are supposedly not good at

electicn03: HELLO SIR! IF WE HAVE FINISHED THE TIME MATERIAL THEN ACCORDING TO U WHICH BOOK WE SHOULD PREFER?
raghunath: revise our study material and revise TG MC CAT replica Test Papera & AIMCATs.

hero123: Sir I have started preparing for Quants now only . How do i complete my preparation by November to get a good score
shyam: Practice a lot after completing basics

nishitha: sir will i be able to clear the quant cut-off easily after having done all the SMs on quant?
kranthi: the chances will be that much better with thorough preparation.

tessy: sir,in the 2 hours that i devote to studying quant how many questions would you advice me to finish in those 2 hours?
shyam: first conc on basics, depending on the difficulty level no. of attempts may vary take it topic wise and attempt questions till u feel really comfortable with questions. do not attempt similar questions

laxmi: Sir, SM11 questions are on the higher level of difficulty. Is this the expected level in CAT?
shyam: U could say so, nevertheless u will also find easier questions than this

jstplayin: hello sir. I want to ask that i have been able to solve maths que wth good accuracy but not good speed (8/9 correct in 50 min). What shoud i do to improve my speed without affecting the acuracy.
raghunath: Familiarity with type of questions is the main reason for acquiring speed. Do chapter wise revisions and identify the questions which acts as Speed breakers. Consult te faculty and fine the gaps in knowledge and plug them.redo the questions after a period of time to see whether you have refined yoyr approach

cats: at this stage , one should spend hw much amt of time on quant so that at the end we'll have a gud grip on the basics + to make a decent %tile in quant section ????
raghunath: You should atleast be spending 3 hours on quants and working out a time framing for completing chapters and revising them atleast twice before November

bonzer: sir this time CAT is being conducted by Prometric which conducts GRE. am i supposed to get question similar to GRE
shyam: NO

nitin_88: sir,in quant, can i skip the geometry portions as my base is not so strong in it..im pretty good with other quant topics..
kranthi: do not skip any topic prepare it to the extent that u will not let go any easy questions on the same.

monu: sir is it a good idea to bank upon the chapters of sm101009 booklet and few of 101001 booklet especially chapter on numbers..and the chapter on simple interest and compound interest are very boring to me..though i completed numbers..but i hate simple interest chapter and thinking of leaving it..
shyam: U need to be good at arithmetic chapters, not few of 101001, also if you are good at percentages u should not have big problems solving SI CI questions

a.j: What is more important.. Solving as many problems as u can or Solving limited number of problems covering all concepts very thoroughly?
raghunath: Divide your preparation into 2 categories - one part spent on covering concepts thoroughly and the other part on speed and accuracy

golu: just joined TIME,july end batch,i am not able to understand how to get benefit from AIMCATs,when i m still workin on my basics.
shyam: purpose of aimcats is to expos u to many aspects apart from just subjectual issues, also it lets u know ur strong and weak areas and make an appropriate strategy

krish: sir, i have a doubt. are the paper pencil MC's and CRT's provided to us identical to the on-line ones which are currently being uploaded ?
shyam: if you mean to say same questions NO

monu: i m a final year student and giving cat for the first time...wht approach should be better according to u..considering my 7 th sem exams in october...plz answer in detail..i would be very thankful..
shyam: many of the students have the same problem u should have planned it long back but it is not too late to put down a time table and stick to it

muc9a203: plz tell me order of attepmting sections, im good at quant and weak at di also im average in verbal which section should be visited 1 st and last?
shyam: U should test out different strategies in MOCKS and see the best which suits u

rachel: IF QA COMPRISE OF 25 QUESTIONS PLEASE SUGGEST RATIO DISTRIBUTION FOR VERY DIFF : DIFF : MORD : EASY.
raghunath: First identify all easy questions and answer them. Go back look at questions familiar to you and see how many more questions can be answered. the Very difficult & difficult questions should be dropped as soon as possible

harish: sir,can u suggest me some guidelines to get good marks in quant
raghunath: See our answers to similar questions. There is no elevator to success. Only a ladder to success. Please work out hte material completely

sunny: sir, I have almost completed quant material except test papers. so, sir what should be my future strategy from now. shall, I start solving online test papers or revise the entire material once again?
shyam: YES good going

g_joshi22: Sir how analysis of quanta should be done because if we are not getting the approach then we have to see he answer.
shyam: when u see the answer try to see what was wrong in ur line of thinking and do necessary changes, so do try before looking at the ans

1on1with_cat: sir,i have scored 31 in qa in ths aimcat(8c,1w) and it's about the same in evry aimcat..taking the diffclty level into account and all d factors and i improve in the next 83 days, will i be able to reach a 98+ cat prcntile in qa..rest is ok..also,any inputs 4m ur side are welcome..pls pls help..
raghunath: I am assuming you will be able to putin 2 and half hours on quants preparation. Draw a time bound plan for revising the chapters, including taking practice on line tests. Group the questions chapter wise and understand the finer nuances of the concepts tested and fine tune your understanding and the approach you adopt.Spend time on retaining and retrieving concepts learnt

sachin: My CG is 7.94. If i perform well in CAT , will i be able to get calls from IIMs since my CG is below 8?
kranthi: possible.

tribhu: Hello I am facing problems in scoring in Quant section while giving full length tests though i perform avg to good when i give the quant sectional test. Please let me know what should i do. I m getting really worried
shyam: manage ur time in a full length test

rachel: IS IT MUST TO COMPLETE ALL (14 + 9) CHAPTERS GIVEN IN TIME MATERIAL. FOR A GOOD SCORE.IF NOT REQUIRED PLEASE SUGGEST WHICH I CAN LEAVE OFF.
shyam: U need to be good at basics of all but u can concentrate towards the end on some topics which u are good at but at the same time make sure that the topics sel are also imp

muc9a203: how many questions need to b attempted to get iim call?
shyam: U need to clear sectional cutoffs and overall cutoffs no of questions will change as per difficulty leve;l

kulasekhar: sir i can say i have good basics that i can almost solve each question at home(but in exam i cant solve all just clearing cut offs)..is it enough for me to take only exams now or what should i do??.
kranthi: take the tests with time limit and analyse them without time limit.

anshul: sir , i am good at basics in quant, from where can i get quality questions other than time aimcats, plz suggest some good book
shyam: solve questions from sm11

aman: WHICH BOOKS CAN I REFER OTHER THAN TIME MATERIAL 4 PARTICULARLY NUMBERS?
shyam: Try n solve entire material including AIMCATs still left with time u could look at solving TRISHNA book

nishitmehta: Hello,How I should I prepare in the time period between 2 consecutive mocks so that I do not lose grip over any topic.I m clear wid the basics. My quant percentiles are generally around 85-90%ile.How should I improve?
shyam: Analyse what went wrong and bring in changes to your strategy concentrate on topics wherein u were not able to get right ans

bandhu: is it enough for clearing cutoff if i finish sm1001 and sm1009,because i started just now only,i think i can do this much only
shyam: No you will have to practice all the other additional material being provided to you including the AIMCATS

muc9a203: how many tests should b taken in next 2 months?
shyam: at least a test per week, taking a test dose not stop after the test the after test anlaysis and necessary corrections in your strategy is imp before u take next test

wimwi: Regarding preparation time, shudnt we concentrate more on keeping cool n calm rather than slog for hours(IMHO,this is the only place i see such advices).
kranthi: be easy and busy.

rachel: DO ANY UNIVERSITY PROVIDE MBA SPECIALIZED IN LIFE SCIENCE SUBJECTS. EG. MBA BIOTECHNOLOGY ....?
kranthi: symbiosis group has one one such institute.

electric: sir am not able to remember lot of things in exam....i am forgetting now and then and watever i hav studied for last 3 months from SM etc seems futile so inspite of knowing lot of things cannot connect in aim cat pls help me sir
shyam: Try to concentrate and attempt the aimcats with complete seriousness and don't let the tension take over

babai: sir,is it necessary to practise all the topics for quant given in thr TIME material?what r the topics for which i can skip preparing?
raghunath: No chapter to be skipped Practice all the topics.A easy question can come from the topic you have not looked at

hims: is it late, if i start CAT preparation from today?
shyam: IT IS NEVER TO LATE

bandhu: as it is declared that utmost 70 questions vl b there,so how many sums in quant v can expect
shyam: Let us not guess pls prepare seriously

babai: r there any particular topics on which we should stress more in quant for CAT 2009?
raghunath: see my answer to one of your questions

manoo: sir i am goood at basics of geometry but i am not able to solve questions in exams..what is the solution?
shyam: solve more questions (different models0

rachel: DEAR SIRS, (SHYAM, KRANTHI, RAGHUNATH) EVEN IF THE CHAT TIME ENDS PLEASE ANSWER FOR THE QUESTION ( UNIVERSITIES THAT PROVIDE MBA BIOTCHNOLOGY AND THE TOP B - SCHOOL THAT PROVIDE MBA BIOTECHNOLOGY).I CAN CHECK ANSWER IN CHAT ARCHIVES
shyam: Pune university

anshul: sir, please upload some package of quality question on website, for each section, for the last three month preparation , so that our preparation is well directed
shyam: Test a day series already available pls chk

monu: sir how the aimmcat topper getting about 250+ marks...not only in quant he score high but also in other section also he scores around 80-85 and even a 3 digit no..i wonder how he manages the time...is the situation same in real cat also?? then i think 100-120 marks would not fetch iim call...
shyam: U r percentile is not decided by the topper alone

sid: Happy Teacher's day sir I just wanted an advice that how much time i should spend towards each section to clear the cutoff's initially when Aimcats started i scored about 82-83%ile but from last 3-4 Aimcats i am getting very low %ile as low as 51 pls suggest me what to do
raghunath: The reason for %iles coming down fom 83 to 51 could be due to 2 factors - others have started practising and you have slowed down your practice. You have not probably studied why your % ile has come down is it due to a differnt mix of questions and perhaps not revising some chapters thoroughly.

krish: sir, i am part of the advanced correspondence course and i have upgraded by paying an extra amount of 900. i was then told i would get all the 90 sectional, but now i havent
shyam: pls contact the office where u have enrolled ur self

bb: i fear the qustion sll be leaked.....as samwe q may b put up on forums ll it diminsh chances of those takin ti early???gre qstions are sumtym repeated by prometric
raghunath: IIMs may come out with different type of questions at the same difficulty level.Same Conceptual questions are asked albeit worde differently. Prometric is only agency conducting the test and they are not the agency setting the question paper

deeps: sir,I am working in s/w company...I dont get sufficient time to study in weekdays....so please guide...how to plan because now I am very hopless that I will not be able to do gud in exam
raghunath: Come back from office and sleep immediately Get up early moring 4.30 am start studying ther will be calls form bosses friends and customers . that is the time to prepare

trilok: SIR I M DOING SOME SILLY MISTAKES IN SOLVING QUANTA Q's plz tell me how i can improve .
shyam: concentrate avoid making silly mistakes first of all anazlyze are the mistakes really silly or u r not good at the concepts

smriti: please can u suggest ideal preparation time for quant per day given 2 and 1\2 months of time considering that i am average - medium level in quant
raghunath: 3 hours per day

mahesh reddy m: plz tell the action plan for these 3 months ..i have completed the 14 +9 chapters once.... plz tell the futher action to take....... did CAT previous papers help us???
raghunath: Previous CAT papers are given on our website. Collect questions chapter wise( source : TG papers, MCs, CAT replica tests,AIMCATs) and revise them to take you to the next level

chikky: Sir i waste some of my time watching online porn and masturbating. So can u pls suggest me something. And sir m very serious, dont take it as a joke.
shyam: Good that u r very serious about (by the serious about which issue?), indulge u r selves in more knowledge based activities, be in the company of your friends who are equally serious :-),

shashank: with about 20 different cat pprs (10 days, 2 slots each) bein set dis year 4 diff slots, are there chances of varying difficulty level of questions in diff pprs??
shyam: The IIMS will ensure that does not happen but some individuals perception may differ from paper to paper

sid: Thanx for the answer sir I also want to ask what i should focus on attempting more and more ques or attempting 8-10 ques with accuracy ?
raghunath: attempt as many questions as possible with high accuracy no figure can be quoted as it depends on the difficulty level of the paper

cats: after studying basics , should we complete all the exercises from SM or shuld we first study the basics of all the topics and then move on to ques ?????????/
shyam: u r basics tested when u do exercises so it is an incomplete prep when u do only basics and move on

ami: how to maximize one's sore in quant sir
shyam: good attempts, accuracy and speed all this will happen when u r good at u r basics

a.j: My percentile has is hovering around 95 .. what are my chances of getting into an IIM ,, 10th 86 , 12th - 80% and grad -- 7.55 ,, work ex -0 ?? and what r my chances of getin into the top 3 a,b,c ?
kranthi: hard work makes a lot of things possible.

smriti: hi sir,i am able to do the problems given in time material but when it comes to performing in exams i am not able to do it effectively the reason coz of apllication of concepts..please help
raghunath: Learn the concept and learn how to apply the concepts

cats: after studying basics , should we complete all the exercises from SM or shuld we first study the basics of all the topics and then move on to ques ?????????/
raghunath: your question is already answered by Shyam

mrin: Sir quant is my fav section, But whenever i see a tough quant section i panic. what shud i do..??
raghunath: Move on do not get struck with a difficult questiosn. No ego trips. how i cannot answer a quants question. DO NOT PANIC . Pick up easy questions and answer tham

hims: Quant will have around 20 questions this time.as CAT announced the total no questions around 60-70....what topics will have the importance then?
raghunath: Easy questions can be from any chapter

tessy: sir, sumtimes i am able to remember the formulaes, but when iget a question in front of me i feel confused on which formula to apply and on how to apply, but at the same time when i look at the solution of the same question i find that i already knew the answer to the question. could u pls suggest on how i can improve my confidence on the same
raghunath: Formula based approach has this disadvantage. Look at how the formula was arrived at. This will indicate the conditions under which it cna be true. The focus should on application of concepts learnt rather on formula itself. The difficulty oyu seem to have is inabilty to comprehend the question fully. When you look at the solution you have missed out a simple step somwhere along the line. Plug those loop holes. You will succeed
