(Chat Transcript)

time gandalf: good evening sir...
kranthi: good evening.

mahesh88: gud eveing sir.. i have joined in time in june 3rd week. i would like to know whether this 4months enough to face the cat with ease?
kranthi: with ease is something individual specific. But 4 months is a decent amount of time if ur learnability is decent.

atul: sir, is appointment letter and releaving letter is sufficient as a proof of work ex. or i need salary slip also?
kranthi: what ever documents the institute needs from you will be communicated to you and u will have enough time to procure it.

phoneix: sir i have scored 155 in the free online mock in the time website with 52 in qa,59 in di and 44 in verbal how good is it?
kranthi: looks good.try for consistency rather than a flash in the pan.

ankit: sir, what are the sections in quants, DI and english that should be captured and mastered first?
kranthi: just follow the sequence given in the book.

robin: Sir in our batch even the basics of Quant is not yet completed(jus completed ERPV n PPL). So it is very difficult to attempt even a single question in AIMCAT's from Quant section. Tell us sir what to do???I am vert much concerned. Our batch code is CH94.
kranthi: syllabus will be completed in a phased and structured manner.it is better if u do not mix up aimcats and completion of syllabus.

san: good evening sir,i started preparing for cat 1 week back, how much time do you tink that i have to seriously put in eforts to get into iim's.
kranthi: SIX hours every day till the date of exam.

hyc9e083: good evening.while reading the news paper i find many words unknown to me and so i'm looking dictionary for the meaning but it's taking a lot of time.i could devote only 1hr for reading news paper and in tht 1hr i'm not able to complete the paper.wat should i do? second ques is wat is the difficulty level of test a series?
kranthi: persist small drops add up to an ocean.

mahesh88: sir which section of the quants should be mastered first and which will fetch more marks.
kranthi: all sections are equally important.

mahesh88: sir please give us guidelines as to how to approach verbal part.. first should we master word list and go for others? wat is the best strategy? is it compulsory to master all the word lists?
kranthi: try to add 25 words everyday to your vocab.vocab improvement must go hand in hand with improving other areas of language.it is not sequential.

san: I am from b.tech background, and find quant a bit easy while coming to DI i am laging behind ,what can i do to improve my p[erformance in DI.
kranthi: DO all our study material that is more than sufficient.Give special attention to DEX TPBs AIMCATS.

robin: I've started reading "The Fountedhead" by Ayn Rand but found it extremely difficult to read coz even in single sentence u'll find 4-5 alien words. Also it is impossible to use dictionary for each n every word. Please suggest what to do??
kranthi: persistence and patience is the mantra.

mahesh88: to start with wich section of quants is easy whcih can be completed in a lesser time?
kranthi: the difficulty level of questions depend on the particular aimcat.there is nothing like easy difficult section of quant.

robin: Sir is there any TIME centre in Hyderabad where we can find good motivational, fiction, non fiction books in library apart from subject books???
kranthi: All the T.I.M.E. centres in hyderabad keep the same set of books useful for all students.

ankit: while attempting Rc passages which methodology must be adopted? reading passage first or reading questions first in my case have fetched similar results....please guide.
kranthi: depends on the questions if lot of them are inference based then scouting for answers after reading questions is not suggestesd.

san: sir,i am a B.Tech pass out of year 2008,got a placement in satyam but didnt get a joining date.last year when I attempted cat I got 80%le,already i wasted 1 year, i dont want to work now n now im preparing seriously for cat09.suggest me wot to do,am I doing right or wrong n the thing is by attending a seminar of sai sir i was so much inspired dat i wud join only IIM's.
kranthi: Good that ur are motivated but take the gap in ur career seriously hunt for a job .2 years of nothingness is difficult to justify.

lfc_red: Just Wanted to tell my fellow competants, NOT to WORRY. Theres still a lota time Left and Hope they realise it and start working rather than feeling anxious
kranthi: Good samaritan.

mahesh88: sir in the di part wil all the questions be asked in cat in such a way that exact answer must me got.. or do some questions can be done approximating the answer?
kranthi: depends on the choices given.

mahesh88: sir i havent taken aimcat yet and the sylabbus is jus done with the basics.. then i think i may not score a better percentile in the coming 2 or 3 tests.. then how can i assess myself?
kranthi: ur assesment is acontinous dynamic process not a static one.keep working towards the goal.

anjali: sir, since i have an engg background ,i am unable to understand various articles in economic times..what should i do.Only reading editorial will help?
kranthi: Attend our economic basics seminar keep a economics and stock market dictionary with you.

anjali: sir,is there any magazine where i can find diverse topics from each and every field like from philosophy, economice to technology etc.
kranthi: The news paper supplements and newspaper is the best source for variety.Try a magazine like front line.try magportal.com.

mahesh88: sir, in the logical reasoning handout there were many tyopes of questns like parallel reasoning, flaw in the question etc. where can i find the questn in the material.. i cudnt locate any such questions in the blood relations and analytical puzzles...??

anjali: sir, since i have an engg background ,i am unable to understand various articles in economic times..what should i do.Only reading editorial will help?
kranthi: partially till the time u learn to cover more.

mahesh88: sir in what way does the reading of the editorial in the news paper useful for RC? in what way should we approach the editorial??
kranthi: Serves as good practice for rc. helps u face gd interview confidently.improves ur vocab. read the editorial and write a short summary.

prav: Hi, Can I get into IIMs without attempting RCs?
kranthi: theoretically possible.

ankit: i8 work in a company where my salary slip can not be downloaded from a site. All i have is the joining letter , i shall also have a relieving letter mentioning my last drawn salary when the need comes. will it be sufficient?
kranthi: please mention for what purpose ur are asking these.

anjali: sir i have planned to finish my time material by september end along with 1 aimcat per week with thorough analysis. and from october i will attempt 3-4 mock cats every week till D-Day. Is this a correct strategy?
kranthi: 3t04 IS HIGH.Two full length test per week are more than sufficient.Give more importance to learning than test taking.

gandalfthewhite: my score in the first aimcat was 92%ile while it dropped to 66%ile in the second..and this has made my morale low.. what do i do ?
kranthi: score fluctuations are as natural as climate changes .look at your performance in sufficient number of aimcats.

mahesh88: sir for some questions i feel that the solution in the material are too lenghty.. wil most of the questns in cat hav the same kind of solutions.. kind of time taking ones?
kranthi: A mix of both. You must exercise correct judgement in avoiding lengthy ones in the exam.

sho: Sir, how could i improve my GK especially for SNAP and other delhi university MBA exams
kranthi: read news papers regularly read the time magazine go through the material we give in gats and omets.

mahesh88: should the preparation of gd be made simultaneously with the cat test?
