subhayu.nath:
Sir, this is Subhayu from kolkata. Today i have seen in TOI front page that tomorrow CAT committee will sit for a meeting
about the future of CAT2009. They will going to estimate the xact no of ppl who had affected through technical gliches and based
on that they will decide CAT 2009 will reconduct in PP format or not. What do u think the no of ppls are enough to reconduct cat in PP format?
saikumar:
There are good chances of a retest going by the media reports
|
|
ank:
how many ques. should I attend to clear the cut off for iit-D

That would depend on the difficulty level of the paper tomorrow. If it is like last year then around 90-95 attempts would be required given that the test is for 3 hrs
|
|
ravikumar:
sir, sorry for posting in the wrong topic, what colleges to apply for 98+ in cat 09,already applied to iims, fms, xlri, mdi, thank you.
gautam:
Hi Ravi,
Maybe we can discuss this on another chat? Anyway .. the best way to figure out the B-schools to apply to would be to take a look at the list that we have on t4e and apply to schools in the different bands. This is to ensure that there is enough buffer even if there is an untoward incident.
|

akhil_atiim:
what is the no of questions that one needs to attempt in jmet to get a good score .

If you have gone through the TIME OMET for TISS then it should be fine

Take a look at this link: http://www.tiss.edu/announcements/attachments/Sample%20Paper%202010-12.pdf
You will realise the qns do not need you to go into such great details as Govt schemes etc. However if it is relevant go ahead

Considering last year JMET paper, what should be the ideal number of attempts for clearing quant cut off ?
saikumar:
Around 10-12Qs
|
|
ams:
as sai sir said,by clearing just cut offs we will get 10000 rank, den wt is the meaning of cut-off wen we know der is no chance of being called with this rank? Also, what was the cut-off last year?
saikumar:
That is true. JMET gives ranks for around 10-12K students but only the Top 2000 have any chance of getting a call. The cutoffs are for securing a rank
|
|
abc:
Was AIM JMET harder than JMET itself????
saikumar:
Similar level
|
|
sleuth:
sir i got 32.93 in iift meeting all sectionals but still no call what was the cut off acc ur estimation??
saikumar:
There have been students who have got a call with 30 marks. We will have to wait and see how IIFT has given calls this year. We suspect they ,might have given weightage to Work-x and then given a call.

Sai sir, My CAT Attempts QA-13, DI-12 VA-18(3rd dec morning slot).AIMCATS: On a avg 90 - 95, a couple of 80s and a couple of 97 + also. How are my chances of an IIM call?Is is predictable in the first place?
saikumar:
Based on your MOCK scores you seem to have good chances of IIM calls but then one cant predict for this year's CAT for obvious reasons!
|
|
nikki:
Sir, plz answer this...its very imp....tiss has no negative marking...can we attempt all questions or will accuracy play a role?
saikumar:
Attempt all Qs as there is NO negative marking which is explicitly stated at the beginning of the test

|
|
sam:

TISS doesnt have sections and therefore sectional cutoffs dont arise. All Qs are bundled together.

Sir my accuracy in Verbal is 40-50%, Quant 60-70% & in DI & LR 90%+, many use to suggest try to focus more on quant(as it belongs to IIT) and verbal and I try it on last Jmet mock and as usual it raise the % of wrong answers. With what strategy i should appear for tomorrow exam?
saikumar:
Sani there is a lot of time in JMET as the exam is of 3hrs duration. Slow down and try to improve the accuracy. Do not rush.

ananya:
sir is there any particular strategy that i should bear in mind while doing the tiss paper?

saikumar:
The site gives the marks in each section not the Qs. The Qs were 35-35-35-30 last year and 5 Qs in the first 3 sections were worth 2 marks each and all Qs in the 4th section i.e. Reasoning were worth 2 marks each

SIR WHEN WILL WE GET COMPLETE INFORMATION REGARDING CAT RE- SCHEDULE(APPROX....)
saikumar:
In the next week things should be clear

thank u so much..sir...bt still i m nt getting tht hw shuld i reply the caselets(tiss)...means mainly wht will be their basis for the selection...which type of answers will be selected...wht i shuld keep in mind to be short listed..
gautam:
See Sami when you are looking at the caselet you need to understand what the issue is. After that you need to understand who the important people in the case are. After that try to see what kind of action will solve the problem at hand.

Not much time for further preparation. Now concentrate on performance tomorrow. Deal with your best areas first, simply because you will be faster at these, and surer of your performance. Then devote time to the others. Answer your ques carefully. When in doubt, leave and come back later - do not get stuck on a question, keep moving

sai sir, you misunderstood my question. what is the process followed when taking out a GDPI list ? Any and every person who's cleared the cutoffs OR an institute-predetermined number (say the first 1000 ranks) ?
saikumar:
OK. It is actually an institute predetermined number within a certain range. IIFt must have said we will give around 1000-1050 calls and thus we have a list with 1029 calls.
|

jmet09:

Hi Sir I solved all the JMET 3-4 papers given from coaching...I was able to get 60+ marks in just 2 hrs...I wonder how the cutoff is only 65+ every year. Is there any cutoffs problems or the TIMEs paper are easy???
saikumar:
Cutoff are mentioned for getting a rank in JMET (10-12K hget ranks in JMET). Only the Top 350 ranks can get into IITB and for this the score was around 85 last year. Cant predict the same for tomorrows exam as that would depend on the difficulty level of the exam
|
|
shivangi:
Hi Sir, Have got a mail from SCMHRD for SNAP Shot. Through this website they are providing GK questions and last 4 years papers. Also, they have 4-5 SNAP mock tests uploaded on the website. Have registered myself there but, it seems too helpful as a gesture, could there be any catch there?
gautam:
Hi Shivangi,
My info is that it is the Admission Team that is putting it up in association with some online forum. It is merely based on last years qn papers. Don't assume that it will give you some leads for this years paper. ;-)

The overall cutoff was on the higher side last year. The sectional should still hold true. Please remember that these are estimates and there has been NO information from JMEt/IITs about the way they calculate the sectional cutoffs and the way the ranks are assigned.

pat:
@ sai sir- sir pls answer m askin nth time, ill b grateful if u answer- can u please tell me about the approximate cutoffs for sibm, scmhrd and siib? please answer, this information is imp to make a mindset for snap prepraion...
saikumar:
Last year it was around 83-85 marks for SIBM; around 75-77 marks for SCMHRD and around 65-70 for SIIB. But that was for a paper of the level of difficulty as last year. If the level of difficulty or students performance improves then the cutoffs wil change.
|
|
ankit:
please answer my quesn about the test taking strategy for tomoro..
pcr:
Go with your strengths. Deal with your best areas first, simply because you will be faster at these, and surer of your performance. Then devote time to the others. Answer your ques carefully. When in doubt, leave and come back later - do not get stuck on a question, keep moving
