This is to ensure that there is enough buffer even if there is an untoward incident.

saikumar: The site gives the marks in each section not the Qs. The Qs were 35-35-35-30 last year and 5 Qs in the first 3 sections were worth 2 marks each and all Qs in the 4th section i.e. Reasoning were worth 2 marks each

saikumar: The overall cutoff was on the higher side last year. The sectional should still hold true. Please remember that these are estimates and there has been NO information from JMEt/IITs about the way they calculate the sectional cutoffs and the way the ranks are assigned.

gautam: Difficult to say at this juncture. Depends on the difficulty level. Focus on the paper. These things can be discussed later.

saikumar: very few students have taken this test hence this anomaly with percentiles

commited: sorry for posting this q here but sir please answr me .... i wrote cat on dec 4th eve slot with 44 attempts( qa-16, di 16, va 12) with >>90% accuracy and my aim cat scores varies around 70 - 80%ile and my max %ile was 86%ile please guide me which colleges to apply, atleast to which category coll can i choose ??? and what can be the % ile????
saikumar: You can apply to AA, A and BBB categories.

gautam: Hi Sam, I am assuming that you are adequately prepared for the test. Maybe you can look at the GK part as it is not something you do regularly.

saikumar: Last year it was around 83-85 marks for SIBM; around 75-77 marks for SCMHRD and around 65-70 for SIIB. But that was for a paper of the level of difficulty as last year. If the level of difficulty or students performance improves then the cutoffs wil change.

pcr: Go with your strengths. Deal with your best areas first, simply because you will be faster at these, and surer of your performance. Then devote time to the others. Answer your ques carefully. When in doubt, leave and come back later - do not get stuck on a question, keep moving

saikumar: SIIB, SITM, SIMC, SIOM, SCIT are all decent instis and you can apply based on your interest
