rahul: May not be a good idea. But if you are good at speed and can score heavily if paper is easy then NMAT may be right for you

ulhas: dear adb, you have had a good AIMCAT score. Please use your time judiciously and you could end up with at least 97-98 percentile. Now, go through all the AIMCATs , MCs, CRTs etc, and get familiar with various questions and appraoches.

sai: SPJain

ulhas: Dear Tej, IIFT paper -quant section was a monster and it mauled most. So, don't judh=ge yourself by that standard. secondly, CAT is another match , play it with confidence. Your score in IIFT doesn't determine how you'll do in CAT. Cheer up - you will do much better in CAT!

ulhas: Dear saswat195, different IIMs do have different sectional and overall cut-offs but you should not bother about it while writing CAT. Just do your best and hope that it will be good enough!

ajayarora: Obviously lower no of attempts will mean lower scores. Would advise you to revise AIMCAT's in these last few days.

ulhas: Dear ams, If you have been scoring between 80-85 %ile in AIMCATs, you may get much higher in CAT! You may consider TAPMI, IMI, Fore, LBSIM, BIMYECH etc.

sai: Very much possible. Keep up the spirit and believe in yourself.

rahul: Test a day is not of much use now. Just revise AIMCAT questions. If geometry os weak, skip Geo Qs in CAT

sai: Relax...eat right...watch a movie and give u r best on D-Day.

ajayarora: of course there is chance. Remember a mock is a mock. Your performance on the d day will determine the final result. Your total percentile is good. Give a min of 45 mins to on CAT day and hope for the best. Do not loose hope

ulhas: don't worry about irrevalent thngs. Suggest focus on CAT 09 which will be a CBT and crack it!

sai: At 98 you have a chance with some of the IIMs. Analyse your low scores in Verbal and try to find out if your attempts are low or is it that your accuracy is letting you down.

rahul: Sleep well, spend time on hobbies or interests, movies, music etc. In CAT, alway focus on 1 Q at a time and dont think of results

sai: This year's AIMCATs are good enough if you have gone through each Qs carefully

kk: Apply to a few more institutes under CAT as soon as your exam gets over (We will help you on that)

ulhas: If you are clearing AIMCAT VA cut-offs, go and face CAT with confidence. ATB.

kk: Revise all the malor patterns for DI/LA whcih we covered in class for revisions. Read RC passages online; test a day or any passages which you did not attempt in AIM CATs/MCs/CRTs

ajayarora: Depends on what you want. Apply to SIIB if you are interested in International business. Apply to SIBM Bangalore if interested in general mgt

kk: Relax during the day before CAT. If you have learnt the words, then have the confidence that you wil remember them on D day. If you still want to go through the entire word list, the day before, quickly scan and not read

kk: All the institutes in the 80 -85 percentile category like IFMR, IISWBM, Welingkar etc have their last dates after CAT

rahul: Fix the time. Dont have targets. Attempts vary inversely with diff level. For RC/VA if you have 50%+ accuracy, you should target around 18-20 Qs

kk: You should be able to pin point the reasons for the flcutation by analysing thoroughly the AIM CATs where you did not do well. You have pointed out two problem areas. Approach CAT with a positive frame of mind and the dertermination that you will do your best.

sumv: sir I am able to attempt 50% ques in QA and DI both if i give 50 min each respect. and my accuracy in QA is around 80-85 while in DI its 92-100.but my accuracy in VA is of d range 50-66 and some times even less wat shoud be my strategy?
rahul: Accuracy of 50-60% in VA is ok, if you can manage 18-20 attempts. That will give a decent percentile for sure

kk: Your CAT percentiels will be boosted up by the large number of test takers and by the fact that a sizeable number of them are not prepared / psyched out. So, keep your cool... relax... and you will do very well

rahul: No. MAx 5 min can be added from buffer

sai: A tough section would imply that crossing cut-offs will be a challenge and hence some more effort and time is required in that section. In an easy section you can cross cutoffs in lesser time but in case you have time left over then you should try and work Qs out in the easy section in order to maximise your overall score.

sai: depending on your interest

ajayarora: CRT's stands for CAT REPLICA TEST. They are based on the actual CAT exam. Generally MC's and CRT's are found to be easier than the AIMCAT's

ulhas: Whatever preparation you have done in grammar, it is ok for CAT. Suggest don't worry abt it now.

rahul: you should have fixed your strategy by now based on what worked for you in the AIMCATs

rahul: Try to analyze the reasons for mistakes. Stick to the basics, pick easy questions, quit if you are struck, stick to time limits

sai: Apply to IFMR, LBS, MICA, NIRMA, FORE, TAPMI, GIM, XIMB. Also take SNAP, NMAT, XAT and FMS.

sai: Grt to see your percentiles improve so much. Apply to TAPMI, KJS, FORE, NIRMA, MICA, LBS, NIRMA, BIMTECH, IFMR. Also take other exams like XAT, FMS, SNAP and NMAT

lala: sir, my qa scores still fluctuate anywhere between the range of 60-80 percentile, though i easily score a 90 plus in verbal. DI scores are unpredictable too, but its still better than quant. What do u suggest i do at this stage?
rahul: If you can spare add 5 min to QA. Also, attempt only Qs whwre you are very confident first. And always quit if you get struck on any Q

sai: XAT is slightly easier as fewer students take that exam.

sowmya: Sir IIMs have told that the difficulty level of the papers will be the same throughout..Does tat actually mean that for example if there are 2 geometry questions in a paper there will be 2 questions from geometry in all the papers throughout? Wat do they actually mean by the "same difficulty level"
ulhas: Suggest don't worry about it. What matters is how well you attempt the paper you will get.

ajayarora: to the best of my knowledge the IIM's have not outsourced the setting of the paper

ajayarora: Focus on 1 -2 passages and try and read them slowly. Go for accuracy rather than speed.

ajayarora: YES. There is a chance. Please continue working hard.

sai: Go with a positive mind set and you will emerge victorious. Banish all negative thoughts. If you have done the AIMCATs thoroughly you will be able to do more than 2 DI sets.
