Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test(TANCET) for MCA is an entrance examination conducted every year by Anna University on behalf of Tamil Nadu Government for admission in the professional post-graduate programmes in various Government/Private universities/institutes in Tamil Nadu which include Anna University-Chennai, Anna University-Coimbatore, Anna University-Trichy, Anna University-Tirunelveli, Government and Government aided Institutes and Government Quota seats in private Institutes.
TANCET is the most popular examination for aspirants in Tamil Nadu who want to pursue Post Graduation in professional courses in Tamil Nadu. Every year a very large number of candidates appear for TANCET to secure admissions in best colleges for various courses in Tamil Nadu. Even candidates from outside Tamil Nadu can appear for TANCET but their admission depends on the rules of particular university/institute.
TANCET MCA Eligibility Criteria
A pass in
(a) Any recognised Bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 years duration in 10 + 2 + 3 / 4 years pattern in any discipline with +2 level Mathematics.
(or)
(b)Any recognised Bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 years duration in 10 + 2 + 3 pattern in any discipline with Mathematics or Statistics* as any one of the subjects.
Note: Minimum eligibility marks will be indicated by the admitting authorities concerned in their
notification for admission.
Candidates admitted through Lateral Entry in Degree Courses are not eligible except, B.E./B.Tech.degree.
B.E./B.Tech. degrees obtained through Distance Education Mode / Week end Courses are not eligible.

Procedure for appearing in TANCET
The candidates can register for the entrance test in any one of the modes
(a) Spot Registration
(b) Internet Registration
a. Spot Registration
Candidates can appear in person at the Co-ordinating Centres shown under item 8 with the following documents:
i) Copy of X Std. or equivalent mark sheet
ii) Copy of XII Std. mark sheet or 3 years Diploma certificate
iii) Cash (or) Demand Draft.
iv) The SC/SCA/ST candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu have to produce a copy of the permanent community certificate (card format) for availing fee concession.
b. Internet Registration
Candidates can download the form online through the website www.annauniv.edu. And register through internet by filling-up the application form, download and send it to the address shown in the notification with the following enclosed:
i) Copy of X Std. or equivalent mark sheet
ii) Copy of XII Std. mark sheet or 3 years Diploma certificate
iii) Demand Draft.
iv) The SC/SCA/ST candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu should enclose an attested copy of the permanent community certificate (card format) issued by the competent authority of Government of Tamil Nadu.
Selection Process
Admission of a candidate is based only on the score obtained in TANCET. There is no GDPI (Group Discussion / Personal Interview) process for admissions in TANCET.
