NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY- HAZRATBAL
NIT- Hazratbal was formerly known as Regional Engineering College – Srinagar.
It is granted the status of a deemed university.
LOCATION
It is located at hazratbal, Srinagar-6 in the state of Jammu-Kashmir.
PROGRAMS AT NIT – HAZRATBAL
NIT-Hazratbal offers Engineering degrees in the following disciplines:

Chemical Engg- A total of 25 seats

Civil Engg – A total of 80 seats

Electrical Engg – A total of 35 seats

Electronics and Communication Engg – A total of 30 seats

Mechanical Engg – A total of 55 seats

Metallurgical Engg – A total of 25 seats
In addition to these departments they have separate departments for Humanities,
Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics.
ADMISSION
Admission based on the ranklist of All India Engineering Entrance Examination
conducted by CBSE. All the elibility criteria specified for appearing in AIEEE
is applicable for admission to NIT-Hazratbal also.
ALUMNI
Though the institute was also a victim to the unfortunate happenings at
Kashmir, the alumni association of REC – Srinagar (Present NIT-Hazratbal), is
reviving and is becoming stronger and stronger. Among its famous ex-students
include Ms.Savita Wakhlu, the Managing Director of Jagriti communications, a
training and consulting organization, specializing in Human Development. She is
also the Board Member to the World Trade Center Memorial Foundation.
