National Institute of Technology ,formerly Tripura Engineering College is the
only Degree Level Engineering College in the state of Tripura set up with the
intention of providing technical education to the aspiring and eligible
candidates of the state and the region. It is also one of six Degree and higher
level Technical Institutes (including IIT, Guwahati) in the whole of the
. The college has been upgraded to the status of a
NIT in 2006(National
Institute of Technology, Agartala). NIT-Tripura was initially
affiliated to Calcutta University and had the same curriculum structure
and examination system at par with Bengal Engineering College, the other
institute affiliated to the University. After the establishment of Tripura
University, the college was affiliated to the new University.
The institute is 4Km off National Highway(NH-44) and about 20 Km away from
FACILITIES AT THE CAMPUS
The college has excellent hostel facility, transportation facility, libraries
and computer labs , medical units, all of which are managed by separate
departments. In addition to all these, administration, accounts, establishment,
stipend & scholarship section also function very effectively for the
welfare of the college .

Electrical and Electronics Engineering
Transportation Engineering Departments
The college is administered by Education Department, Government of Tripura
through the Directorate of Higher Education. There is a planning and
Monitoring Board, constituted as per AICTE norms to look-after the development
programmes of the College.
Admission to the Engineering programs at NIT-TRIPURA is
through the AIEEE conducted by CBSE.
The College has regional status in the sense that out of a
total intake of 160 in the four branches of study, 22 seats are reserved for
the candidates from nominees.
Lateral Entry admissions are also given from the 3rd semester
