Khel Ratna for Gagan Narang

Double world record holder, rifle shooter Gagan Narang, winner of the World Championship bronze medal, apart from a clutch of Commonwealth Games gold medals and the Asian Games silver, has been conferred with the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award.

Former Indian captain Shabbir Ali became the first footballer to be named for the Dhyan Chand Award for Lifetime Achievement. Fifty-five year-old Mr Ali, a prolific striker, has played for more than 100 international matches for the country.
