Exam Pattern & Duration:
What is new in XAT 2013? - The XAT exam this year will have a General Awareness section, and the paper will be for 3 hours.
The three-hour long test will be in the pencil-paper mode and will have two parts. The first part will be a test for a duration of 2 hours and 20 minutes. It will comprise multiple choice questions in Quantitative and Data Interpretation Ability (DI), Analytical Reasoning and Decision-making and Verbal and Logical Ability (LA) areas. While the exact number of questions has not been disclosed, it is expected to be around 85, like it did last year.
The second part will be of 40 minute duration and will include General Awareness and Essay Writing. General Awareness is a new area that is being tested by the exam this year. It has been introduced to gauge the candidate's knowledge of business, economics, politics and social developments. There might be around 20-30 questions on General Awareness in this section, in addition to the essay.
Eligibility Criteria:
A bachelors degree under 10+2+3 system from a recognized university or a deemed university. There is no minimum academic percentage requirement.
Final year students are also eligible to apply to XLRI, but will have to finish their under-graduation by Jun 13, 2013.

Applying for B-schools under XAT:
The XAT is a common test for admission into academic programmes of several B-schools including XLRI. You need to register and apply separately for the academic programmes of the B-schools.
Centres for XAT 2013:
XAT will be conducted in 44 cities in India and 3 international cities. More information on the locations will be available at www.xatonline.net.in between Dec 18 - Dec 31, 2012 to know about the Centre.
Registration Process:
Candidates need to fill the XAT Form available online on the institute's website. They will receive a unique user name and password on their registered email. They will have to login, enter their credentials and complete the educational details, upload a photograph and scanned signature. Candidates can pay the application fee using credit card/debit card, cash payment at the nearest IDBI Bank Branch, via DD drawn in favor of "XLRI Jamshedpur A/C XAT" payable at Jamshedpur.
