Universities of different states offer MBA courses and admissions were made on the entrance tests conducted by respective states. RMAT in Rajasthan, PGCET in Karnataka,PMET in Punjab to name a few.

Of late,AICTE has set up a CMAT Cell to coordinate all activities related to conduct of the national level test for admission in to all management programmes in AICTE approved institutions.Quite a few states have adopted CMAT as the entrance examination,doing away with their entrance examination.Rajasthan,West Bengal,Punjab are some of those states.
