Kerala MCA entrance examination
The Kerala MCA entrance examination is conducted by the the Commissioner for Entrance
Examinations, Kerala. Admissions to MCA course in most of the institutions in Kerala
is based on the Rank List of candidates appearing in this exam. The entrance examination
is conducted in the month of July / August.

Eligibility to write the Kerala MCA entrance
examination
A pass in any recognized regular Bachelor’s Degree course of minimum 3 years duration
in any discipline with Mathematics at 10+2 level
OR
A pass in any recognized Regular Bachelors Degree course of minimum three years duration in any discipline with Mathematics/Statistics as one of the Subjects
OR
A pass in BCA Degree of minimum three years duration from a recognized University.
Structure of Kerala MCA Entrance Exam
The paper is for a duration of 2 (two) hours, and consists of 150 Objective Type - Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) covering the following areas of study at graduate level:
Candidate is awarded 3 (three) marks for every correct answer. Each wrong answer
attracts -1 (minus one) mark. In case of a tie in the total marks, candidate scoring
higher marks in the section "Fundamentals of Computer Awareness" shall be
preferred.
List of colleges offering MCA course
The colleges offering MCA course in Kerala fall under 4 (four) categories:
1. Government Institutions,
2. Aided Institutions,
3. Government Controlled Self Financing Institutions, and
4. Private Self Financing Institutions.
There are three colleges under government institutions category:
1. College of Engineering, Trivandrum (30 seats),
2. Government Engineering College, Thrissur (30 seats), and
3. Rajiv Ganghi Institute (RIT), Kottayam (30 seats).
There are two aided institutions:
1. TKM College of Engineering, Kollam (25 seats), and
2. MA College of Engineering, Kothamangalam (25 seats).
There are three Government Controlled Self Financing Institutions:
1. College of Applied Sciences, Calicut,
2. College of Applied Sciences, Palakkad, and
3. LBS College of Engineering, Kasaragod.
These colleges offer admission to 50% of their
seats through Kerala MCA Entrance Exam and the balance seats are reserved under
management quota.
There are more than 20 (twenty) colleges under the category of Private Self Financing Institutions in Kerala which offer MCA course. Each of these colleges offers 25 to 30 seats through the Kerala MCA Entrance Exam.
