Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) is a premier Science and Technology University of the country,located in Kerala. CUSAT is academically structured into 9 faculties and 27 departments: Engineering,Environmental Studies, Humanities, Law, Marine Sciences, Medical Sciences & Technology, Science, Social Sciences and Technology,offering Graduate and Post Graduate programmes. Admission to seats for the various under graduate programmes offered at the School of Engineering, Kunjali Marakkar School of Marine Engineering, Cochin University College of Engineering Kuttanad (including 10% NRI seats) and under graduate programmes offered in the Department of Instrumentation, Ship Technology, Polymer Science and Rubber Technology and Centre of Excellence in Lasers & Opto Electronic Sciences will be based on the “Common Admission Test” (CAT) of CUSAT, open to all Indian nationals with test centres in all district headquarters in Kerala, and in selected centres outside Kerala. COCHIN UNIVERSITY COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING KUTTANAD (CUCEK) It offers B.Tech programmes in Computer Science, Electrical & Electronics, Electronics and Communication, Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engg. and M.C.A. SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING, THRIKKAKARA (SOE) The School offers B.Tech. Programmes in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering and Information Technology, B.Tech. in Safety and Fire Engineering,Electrical & Electronics Engineering. KUNJALI MARAKKAR SCHOOL OF MARINE ENGINEERING (KMSME) The prestigious B.Tech. Programme in Marine Engineering is offered by the School. Apart from the above programmes, the Faculty of Engineering has departments like Department of Polymer Science & Rubber Technology, Department of Ship Technology etc that offer unique B.Tech programmes. About CUSAT CAT: All academic admissions are based on the merit of the applicants as determined through an admission test conducted for the purpose subject to satisfying other prescribed eligibility criteria. Dates : 05.05.2012, 09.30 a.m. - 12.30 p.m, Total no.of Questions: 250 objective type, 3marks for correct answer and -1 for every wrong answer No.of questions from Mathematics: 125 No.of questions from Physics and Chemistry:125 (in the ratio of 3:2 respectively) Candidates appearing for this test should have scored a minimum of ten marks each from the maths part and physics-chemistry part of the question paper to be eligible to figure in the respective rank list. This requirement of minimum marks, however, will not be applicable for candidates coming under SC/ST communities Test Centres
Seat Matrix and Eligibility Criteria
Academic Eligibility: Pass in the Plus Two Examination of the State of Kerala with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as optional subjects or any other examination accepted as equivalent thereto securing a minimum of 50% marks in Mathematics and 50% marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry put together Kunjali Marakkar School of Marine Engineering (KMSME) B.Tech. Programme in Marine Engineering The programme is designed as per the norms prescribed by the Directorate General of Shipping and Transport, Government of India and is approved by the AICTE. Students seeking admission should be physically fit and will have to undergo regular physical training during the programme. Department of Instrumentation, Faculty ofTechnology B.Tech Course in Instrumentation Technology - 28 The candidates shall have passed the plus two (12th) examination of any state/national board with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry or any other examination accepted as equivalent by the Cochin University of Science and Technology. The candidate shall have secured a minimum of 60% marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry put together with at least 55% in Mathematics separately. The minimum eligibility for SEBC (belonging to Kerala State) is 55% for Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry put together with at least 50% for Mathematics. Department of Polymer Science & Rubber Technology, Faculty of Technology B.Tech in Polymer Science and Technology – 20 Pass in Plus Two examination of the State of Kerala with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as optional subjects or any other examination accepted as equivalent thereto securing a minimum of 50% marks in Mathematics and 50% marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry put together. Department of Ship Technology, Faculty of Technology B.Tech in Naval Architecture and Ship Building – 40 (12 seats reserved Naval students) Should have passed Plus Two (10+2) examination conducted in Kerala or the examination of any other University/ Board accepted by the Syndicate of the University as equivalent thereto in First Class with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as subjects of study. The candidate shall have secured a minimum of 50% marks in Mathematics as well as for Mathematics, and Chemistry put together.
