Motilal Nehru national Institute of Technology was formerly known as Motilal
Nehru Regional Engineering College,Allahabad. It was was established in year
1961 as a joint enterprise of Govt. of India and Govt. of U.P. in accordance
with the scheme of establishment of REC. However with effect from June 26th of
2002 the college became deemed university and is now known as Motilal Nehru
National Institute of technology.
The institute came into existence to offer Bachelor Degree Programmes in Civil,
Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Branches in 1961. Currently the Institute
offers Bachelor degree programs in the following disciplines.

Post Graduate courses were introduced in the year 1970-71 by starting Master
Degree courses in all engineering departments. The institute now offers various
M.Tech. degree programs and M.C.A. course and registers candidates for Ph.D.
degree. The institute has been recognised by the Government of India as one of
the centres for the quality improvement programme in Civil and Mechanical Engg.
To add a new dimension to itself the institute has started a two year / four
semesters Post Graduate Degree in Management Studies from 1996.
Facilities
Institute has been set up on 222 acres of land on the banks of Ganga. MNNIT is
fully residential institution with seven hostels for boys and two for girls.
One hostel is exclusively for post graduate students.
Library
The institute has a well equipped library with a collection of about 1 lakh
books and bound periodicals and is housed in 2500 sq.m building. The libraray
offers facilities likeReader services, book bank services, reprographic
services, digital Library etc.
Industry Interaction Cell
The institute industry interaction cell was established in college in the year
1989 under the scheme of institute-industry interaction, Ministry of Human
resource Development. The main objectives of the Cell are to interact with the
industries to know the technology used by them so as to modify the curriculum
of the courses,to send the faculty members to the industry for the training
under the faculty exchange program,to offer the special courses to engineers of
industries,to take R & D work from the industries and to involve staff
members to deal with industrial problems.
Design centre
Design centre has been established under the INDO-UK REC project at Motilal
Nehru National Institute Of Technology, Allahabad. This centre conducts R &
D and consultancy activities in the area of CAD / CAM, PCB Design, Image
Processing and Vision Systems, Robotics, Air Pollution Control and Structural
Testing etc.
