Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT University) is a premier educational Institution in Tamilnadu. VIT University has two campuses, the main campus at Vellore and a new campus at Chennai.

The University has nine schools offering 18 undergraduate programmes and 34 postgraduate programmes.

Admission to under graduate programmes is made on the basis of all India entrance examination, called Vellore Institute of technology Engineering Entrance examination (VITEEE).In 2011 1,60,324 students appeared for the exam.

Academic Eligibility for open category

A candidate should pass in 10+2 or its equivalent with a minimum average of 60% of marks, in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Biology.

Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics (PCM) candidates are eligible for all the courses (13 B.Tech degree courses)

Physics, Chemistry& Biology (PCB) candidates are eligible only for B.Tech. Bioinformatics, Bio medical engineering & Biotechnology Courses

Candidates appearing for the 10+2 examination in the year also can apply.

Qualifying Examination

HSE/CBSE/ISCE/Intermediate or Two year Pre-University examination/HSCE of Cambridge University.

Date of VITEEE : 21 April 2012 (Saturday), 2.30 pm to 5.00 p.m.[IST]

Duration : 2 hours 30 minutes.

VITEEE Paper Pattern

The paper has 4 parts.Each part has 40 objective questions with 4 answer options for each question. Each question has 1 mark and has no negative marking.
