Final Placements for MDI, Gurgaon 2018

The MDI Gurgaon completed its final placement for the PGP, PGP-IM and PGP-HRM programmes, clocking an average salary of ₹.19.17 lakh per annum (LPA). This is an enhancement on 2017's LPA of ₹. 18.89.

The domain that recruited the highest number of students was Sales & Marketing. 119 companies participated in this process, from which there were 28 first-time recruiters.

Sales & Marketing:  This was the most popular area for students. The participating companies included Godrej Industries, AB InBev, Abbott, ITC, Pidilite Industries, L'Oréal and Vodafone. Of these, Godrej Industries and Tolaram Group offered students international roles. First-time participants included Jubilant FoodWorks, Abbott, MARS, IOCL and PUMA.

General Management & Strategy: Large business houses like Godrej Industries, Reliance Industries Limited, RPG Group and the Hinduja Group made lucrative offers to students in this domain. Consulting companies offered students niche profiles. These companies included Deloitte, Accenture Strategy, PwC, KPMG, Lenskart, Airtel and Infosys Consulting. On the other hand, Boeing offered a role in Strategy.

Finance: Banking and Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI) companies made offers in areas such as Equity Research, Corporate Banking, Investment Banking, Corporate Finance and Wealth Management. Here, the top recruiting companies were Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan Chase & Co., HSBC and Nomura. Others included American Express, Citibank, Axis Bank, Coca Cola, BMW, CRISIL and Yes Bank.

Operations, IT/ITES and Others: The two Indian manufacturing giants, Tata Steel and Ashok Leyland, offered lucrative positions to students in the Operations domain. Roles in Analytics and Product Management were offered by several IT companies to students of MDI. Besides, front-ranking start-ups recruited candidates for CXO positions. In this domain, the top recruiting companies were Ashok Leyland, Tata Steel, Tata Motors, Cognizant, IBM IT Consulting, Vedanta and L&T.

Human Resources: The HR program at this institute has grown exponentially, as seen in its placement drive of 2018. is domain saw prominent recruiting companies such as Reliance Industries Limited, ITC Limited, Deloitte, Aditya Birla Group, RPG Group, Deloitte and PwC SDC. New companies in the fray included HPCL and Bajaj Auto. New recruiters included Max Life Insurance. The highest salary for this program was ₹. 24 LPA, while the average stood at ₹. 19.15 LPA and the median salary was 18.15 LPA.

Key placement trends: Noteworthy trends of 2018's placement drive at this institute are: The average CTC for 2018's batch increased to ₹. 19.17 LPA as against ₹. 18.89 LPA in 2017. Also, the highest domestic CTC also shot up dramatically from ₹. 28.74 LPA in 2017 to ₹. 35 LPA this year. The top 20% of this year's batch got an attractive average salary of ₹. 25.91 LPA.

Domain-wise Placements: To ensure its position in being a preferred institute for students wanting to pursue Finance, Sales & Marketing and General Management & Strategy function, this year too, MDI, Gurgaon attributed its long-term success to the strong conviction and backing of its faculty and alumni.

Doing the institute proud yet again, this year students bagged international offers across domains and industries, such as from Godrej Industries and Tolaram Industries. The former offered ₹. 55 LPA--the highest ever this season. The number of PPOs also rose from 100 in 2017 to 108 in 2018.

Diverse batch profile: MDI Gurgaon has helped to maintain the required gender ratio among students. Amazingly, in 2018, this trend continued with about 26% women enrolling in programs such as PGPM, PGP-HRM and PGP-IM as against 22% in 2017.

With MDI fanning out to accommodate students from various disciplines, 2018 saw students from various streams such as Arts, Law, Commerce, Medicine, Science, Psychology, etc enrolling here. This year's batches comprise students from diverse backgrounds, with 82% engineers, 11% commerce and 3% Arts, while the balance 4% coming from other disciplines. These students have work experience in various sectors, such as BFSI, Manufacturing, IT/ITES and Consulting. This rich diversity of students makes for an ideal talent pool for recruiting companies.

This year, 119 recruiting companies participated in the placement process and made offers to 331 students. With regular participating companies, this year also saw new recruiting companies making attractive offers to students. This is a heart-warming development for the institute, because it proves that the quality of education imparted here is of international class--reason why Industry's best repose their trust in the institution.
