Excellent Performance of T.I.M.E. Students in GATE 2016
Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is a national level examination conducted by Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore on behalf of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) by the Government of India.
The exam tests the comprehensive understanding of candidates in various undergraduate subjects in Engineering / Technology / Architecture and Post-Graduate level subjects in Science. The GATE score is used for admissions into Post-Graduate programs (M.E., M.Tech., direct Ph.D.) in Indian institutes of higher education with financial assistance provided by MHRD and other Government agencies. The score is also used by many Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) for recruitment.
The results for GATE 2016 examination was declared on 19th March. A total of 9,71,831 candidates had registered for GATE 2016 out of which 8,18,850 candidates appeared for the examination. Out of the total test-takers, 5,76,611 male candidates and 2,42,207 female candidates appeared for the examination. The streams with the highest number of test-takers were: Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering and Computer Science and Information Technology.
Each of the 23 papers for GATE 2016 was an examination of 3 hour duration and entire examination for all the papers was conducted in computer-based ONLINE mode. The examination for all the 23 papers was conducted in 8 sessions spread over 2 weekends, starting from 30th January 2016 and ending on 7th February 2016. The examination was conducted in over 680+ centres spread over 26 states and union territories of the country. Examination for all these papers was conducted in multi-session mode. A suitable normalization method has been followed for these papers.
This year in GATE 2016, one of our Classroom Student of T.I.M.E. Hyderabad, Kolli Naveen, has secured All India 4th Rank in ECE Stream. We also have many more excellent ranks of 8, 11, 17, 18, 28, 29, 37, 52, 58, 70, 75, 89, 93, 96, 97 etc.
