Registration and Testing
Fees for the GRE® General Test
|Changing Your Test Centre||$50|
One must reschedule or cancel the test registration no later than three full days before the test date or the test fee will be forfeited. This time period does not include one's scheduled day of the test or the day of the request.
If one cancels the registration no later than three full days prior to the test date, he/she will receive a refund equivalent to half of the original test fee.
Candidates MUST present a valid passport with their name, photograph and signature as their primary ID document. There are no exceptions to this policy.
Candidates must use their exact name and spelling of that name as shown on the primary ID document (Passport) that will be presented at the test center. If the name shown on the primary ID does not match the name on the registration record, they will not be permitted to appear for the test and a refund will not be issued. They will have to register again and pay another test fee.
Official Identification for Registration & Testing
At the Test Center - If the first name on the candidate's primary ID document contains only a first initial, a supplemental ID (government–issued ID, student ID, confirmation of identity letter from his/her educational institution) containing the entire first name must be presented. The identity letter from the educational institution must contain the name; date of birth; a recent, recognizable photo; his/her signature; the name of the school; and the date issued. It must be typed on the original letterhead of the educational institution he/she attended, and the signature of the school official and the school seal must overlap his/her photo. A letter of identity is valid for only one year from the date of issue.
If the test administrator questions the ID document presented, the candidate will be required to provide a second proof of identity. If positive confirmation cannot be made, he/she may be refused admission to the test center and will forfeit his/her test fees. Test centers are not required to hold the candidate's seat if he/she leaves the center to obtain acceptable identification.
