Institute of Medical Sciences, B H U Varanasi


The Banaras Hindu University is an internationally reputed institution established in the year 1916 conducting courses in vast range of subjects pertaining to all branches  like humanities, social science, technology, medicine, science, fine arts and performing arts. The Institute started functioning as College of Medical Sciences in the year 1960. In this institution Faculty of Modern Medicine and Faculty of Ayurveda are nurtured under the same roof.

The university holds All India COMPETITIVE WRITTEN TEST for admission to MBBS course.

The test is conducted in TWO stages.

First stage (PMT- SCREENING) is usually held during May at Varanasi,Delhi, Kolkata, and Hyderabad Centres.

PMT- MAIN-during June at Varanasi Centre

Eligibility:

Passed Intermediate, 10+2 or equivalent examination, with a minimum of 50% marks in PCB and English taken together (For SC/ST 40%).

Foreign nationals are not required to appear in the entrance examination for MBBS Course. They may seek admission through respective Ministries of Govt. of India, New Delhi, as per the rules laid down for the purpose.

Pattern of Test:

The Papers for the PMT are of objective type consisting of a paper each in Physical Sciences (Physics & Chemistry) and Biological Science (Botany & Zoology).

AGE :

Completed 17 years but have not crossed 25 years as on 31st December of the year.

Duration of course

5 ½ years (including one year compulsory rotating internship training)
