ADMISSION TO HEALTH SCIENCE COURSES IN MAHARASHTRA

The Government of Maharashtra conducts a common entrance examination to admit candidates for undergraduate Health Science Courses (MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, BUMS, BPTh, BOTh, BP&O, BASLP and BSc Nursing) at all Government/Municipal Corporation and Government aided Health Science institutions. The Counseling and Selection to the respective courses will be made by the Competent Authorities. The merit list of MHT-CET will be utilized for the selection in Veterinary Colleges in Maharashtra.

ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION TO HEALTH SCIENCE DEGREE COURSES

  • The candidate must be an Indian National
  • The candidate must have passed the qualifying examination i.e. Higher Secondary Certificate(SSC/HSC/12th Standard) or equivalent examination, from an Institution situated in the State of Maharashtra with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology) at the time of admission.
Eligibility criteria for various courses

MBBS/BDS/BAMS/BUMS : A candidate belonging to Open Category must have obtained not less than 50% (i.e. 150 out of 300) marks in Physics,Chemistry and Biology taken together at the HSC (or equivalent) Examination. A candidate belonging to backward class must have obtained not less than 40% (i.e.120 out of 300) marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together at the HSC (or equivalent) Examination. A candidate belonging to open category must secure not less than 50% marks and backward category not less than 40% marks in Physics,Chemistry & Biology (PCB) taken together at MHT-CET

BHMS, BPTh, BOTh, BASLP and BP&O: Candidate should pass HSC/12th Standard or equivalent examination. For admission to BP&O and BASLP, students who have passed 12th standard examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and / or Mathematics are eligible. A candidate will be selected on the basis of merit in Common Entrance Test (MHT-CET).

BSc. Nursing - A candidate belonging to open category must have obtained not less than 45% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English taken together at HSC (or equivalent) examination. A candidate belonging to backward class must have obtained not less than 35% marks in Physics, Chemistry,Biology and English taken together at HSC(or equivalent) Exam. A candidate will be selected on the basis of merit in Common Entrance Test (MHT-CET).

Additional Eligibility for BUMS:

Candidate should have passed SSC (or equivalent) examination from the recognized board with Urdu as one of the subjects.

Other state candidates

All those candidates who have passed the S.S.C. (Std. X) and/or H.S.C. (Std. XII) or equivalent examination/s from an Institution/s situated outside the State of Maharashtra are not eligible to appear at MHT-CET examination and subsequent admission to Health Science courses, except those are children of Defence personal, Maharashtra Karnataka Border candidates, Domicile of Maharashtra,Children of State or Central government employees.

Students are admitted to 15% of the total number of seats on an All India Basis through Common Entrance Examination AIPMT/PD conducted by CBSE

PREPARATION OF MERIT LIST AND DECLARATION OF RESULT
Based on the merit of MHT CET, State Merit List indicating State merit number, regional merit number, category wise merit number is prepared in descending order of merit.

Tie-breakers
In case of equal corrected marks at the MHT-CET their relative merit is adopted in the following order.
  1. A candidate with higher total of uncorrected marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology at the MHT-CET
  2. A candidate with higher marks in Biology at the MHT-CET Examination
  3. A candidate with higher marks in Chemistry at the MHT-CET Examination
  4. A candidate with higher percentage of aggregate marks at the SSC (or equivalent) Examination shall be preferred, if the tie still persists, then:
  5. Preference given to elder candidate.
Admission to Maharashtra Animal and Fishery Science University, Nagpur

The merit list of MHT-CET will be utilized for admission in Veterinary Colleges in Maharashtra.

Eligibility

  1. Candidate should complete 17 years on or before 31st December of the year
  2. Passed XII std in 10+2 pattern from Maharashtra State Board of Higher Education or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English with 50% of the uncorrected total marks (40% for backward class) in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together at the MHT-CET
  3. Outside Maharashtra Students are admitted to 15% of the total number of seats on an All India Basis through Common Entrance Examination conducted by Veterinary Council of India (AIPVT).
  4. NRI/Foreign national students -10 seats, Jammu and Kashmir Migrant students- 5 seats and Goa state students- 6 seats are reserved for admission to B.V.Sc. & A.H. provided they fulfill the pre-requisite condition to appear for common entrance examination MHT-CET.
SCHEME OF EXAMINATION

Schedule & Test Design: The MHT-CET will be of multiple choice type having four options with one correct choice.

Each paper is of 100 marks.
Paper I :- Physics & Chemistry (50 questions each)
Paper II :- Biology (Botany & Zoology - 50 questions each)
Duration of each paper-90 mints
No negative marking


The candidate is not given choice among the questions. He/She should appear for both Paper I & Paper II for selection to Health Science courses and B VSc & AH.

Syllabus of Examination: Syllabi of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics for the MHT-CET will be the same as for the current year for HSC Examination of HSC Boards of Maharashtra.

ADMISSION TO PHARMACY COURSES IN MAHARASHTRA
Maharashtra State candidates and OMS candidates are eligible to appear for the MHT-CET- conducted by the Competent Authority of Government of Maharashtra.

Eligibility of Maharashtra State Candidate and OMS candidate

  • Candidate should be an Indian National
  • Should have passed the HSC (Std.XII) examination of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination with subjects English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Mathematics AND Secured minimum 50% marks i.e. not less than 150 marks out of 300 marks (minimum 45% marks i.e.not less than 135 marks out of 300 marks in case of candidates of Backward class categories belonging only to Maharashtra State) in the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Biology/mathematics added together AND Obtained a non zero score at MHT-CET
Eligibility Criteria for Foreign National/Foreign student/ PIO/Children of Indian workers in the Gulf countries/Children of NRI, J&K Migrant candidates:
  • Candidate should have passed the HSC (Std.XII) examination of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination with subjects English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Mathematics and secured minimum 50% marks i.e. not less than150 marks out of 300 marks in the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Mathematics added together
  • The NRI candidates are eligible to apply for admission against the Institute level seats, only in Unaided Private Pharmacy Colleges/Institutes.
  • The NRI candidate is not required to appear for the MHT-CET.
  • J & K Migrant candidates are exempted from appearing for the MHT-CET subject to the approval of MHRD, New Delhi
Eligibility criteria for GOI nominees:

  • Candidate should be an Indian National
  • Should have passed the HSC (Std.XII) examination of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination with subjects English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Mathematics and secured minimum 50% marks i.e. not less than 150 marks out of 300 marks (minimum 45% marks i.e. not less than 135 marks out of 300 marks in case of candidates of Backward class categories) in the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Mathematics added together.
  • GOI nominees, as they are selected by their respective states for the Degree course in Pharmacy are exempted from appearing for the MHT-CET
Eligibility criteria of Candidates who have passed Diploma in Pharmacy for taking admission to Pharmacy degree course.

  • Diploma holders who have passed the course in Pharmacy with minimum of 50% marks and medium of instruction as English from the Polytechnics affiliated to MSBTE or AICTE approved autonomous Polytechnics in/outside Maharashtra State
  • Eligible Diploma candidates can get admission to the Institute level and the vacant seats existing after completion of the Centralized Admission Process in Unaided Private Institutes only.
  • Diploma candidates are not eligible to appear for the MHT-CET.
MERIT LIST

  • There will be separate merit lists OMS candidates.
  • Merit list of Maharashtra State Candidates will indicate a General State Merit No., State level Category Merit no, General Home University Merit No., Home University Category Merit no. etc.
Relative merit in case of a tie:

In the case of candidates securing equal number of marks in MHT-CET their relative merit will be fixed on the basis of the following order of preference:

  1. A candidate securing higher marks out of 100 in the subject of Biology/Mathematics (whichever is maximum) in MHT-CET.
  2. A candidate securing higher marks out of 50 in the subject of Chemistry in MHT-CET.
  3. A candidate passing the SSC (Std. X) examination with higher aggregate marks out of 750.
  4. Elder Candidate will be given preference
SCHEME OF EXAMINATION

Probable Date of Examination: The examination will be conducted at various centres in Maharashtra during the month of May .

Schedule & Test Design: The MHT-CET will consist of three question papers of Multiple choice type having four options with one correct choice.

Each paper is of 100 marks.
Paper I :- Physics & Chemistry (50 questions each)
Paper II :- Biology (Botany & Zoology - 50 questions each)

The candidate for Pharmacy degree course should appear for Paper I & Paper-II and/or Paper-III.
