(Chat Transcript)

arshad : HOW CAN I IMPROVE MY ABILITY IN SENTENCE ORDERING?
ashwinvariyar : For Parajumbles practice is key. Try to identify links between statements in any set. Sometimes you may be able to identify opening and closing statements as well.

raghav : GOOD EVENING, REGARDING GRAMMAR, DOES WRITING MORE MOCKS HELP?
lakshmymenon : You can go through the exercises in the Grammar SM (Study Material). You can also take sectional tests. Mock CATs won't help with grammar since grammar is not directly tested in CAT.

muca4a220 : HOW MANY SETS TO SOLVE FOR A DECENT SCORE IN DILR
ashwinvariyar : Generally DILR section will have 4 sets. Based on the difficulty level of CAT 22 and CAT 23, 2.5 sets would have given you a good percentile. But that can change depending on the level of the exam paper.

raghav : PARA JUMBLING AND FINDING OUT THE ODD SENTENCE HAS BEEN SOME OF MY WEAKER POINTS. ANY SUGGESTIONS?
lakshmymenon : The first step is to understand some principles of paragraph formation. Different patterns of idea flow are possible - general to specific, specific-general, general-specific-general etc. When you look at a question, start identifying pairs of sentences using connectives etc. Then look at the pattern of idea flow for better accuracy. Some principles of common sense can be used too - definitions etc. come first, cause and then effect, problem and then solution etc.For odd man, do a para jumble first (don't spend too long on the order, just identify which 4 sentences g togehter).

muca4a220 : AND ALSO DOES ATTEMPTING TITA TYPES QUESTIONS MORE AND BEFORE OTHER QUESTIONS BETTER STRATEGY?
darshanamishra : That shall depend on your comfort with that question type and how well and quickly can you solve them...there can not be a set standard for this.

dlca4ah47 : GOOD EVENING, WILL DOING LR TOPICS IN ORDER FROM THE BEGINNING OF THE LR STUDY MATERIAL BE ENOUGH?
ashwinvariyar : Doing LR topics in a particular order will help. But for a particular topic, go through the study material and then attempt sectional tests as well.

muca4a220 : AND ALSO DOES ATTEMPTING TITA TYPES QUESTIONS MORE AND BEFORE OTHER QUESTIONS BETTER STRATEGY?
tarannumraza : The TITA questions , if answered wrong, do not get you negative marks but will fetch plus marks if right. So it is good strategy to attempt the TITA questions but with enough prior practice & being mindful of the time spent.

bet : HOW MANY CORRECT QUESTIONS SHOULD WE GET
darshanamishra : That will totally depend on the level of difficulty of the section

roshith : CAN I JUST FOCUS ON AEON EASY AND LEAVE NEWS PAPERS FOR DAILY READING PRACTICE?
darshanamishra : You need to read upon various subject areas. it could be from multiple sources. Links on SHP should help too

adcc4t001 : WILL SOLVING THE GIVEN MOCKS BE ENOUGH?
darshanamishra : All full length mocks and sectional tests should be good enough

king : HOW TO SCORE WELL IN VARC
lakshmymenon : Take all AIMCATs and analyse your mistakes by watching the video solutions. Read articles on a wide range of subjects. Look up the meanings of tough words and note them down in a book - revise from time to time.

dlca4ah47 : HOW MANY DILR SETS TO TARGET EVERYDAY TO GET A DECENT PERCENTILE?
ashwinvariyar : 2 to 3 sets everyday with analysis should help

shine : LAST CAT I COULDN'T SCORE WELL IN VERBAL BECAUSE I DID NOT HAVE A GOOD STRATEGY FOR QUESTION SELECTION AND WENT ON TO ATTEMPT ALL BASED ON A HUNCH. CAN YOU SUGGEST ME THAT BEFORE ATTEMPTING WHAT IS THE PROCESS OF QUESTION SELECTION AND SOME THRESHOLD OF MINIMUM QUESTIONS TO BE ATTEMPTED IN VA AND RC FOR A DECENT PERCENTILE.
tarannumraza : You can quickly scan the beginning of the passages& start with the one which is easy to read. If you understand the passage, you will be able to tackle the difficult questions too. Plus , keep in mind that just because you have read the passage, doesn't mean that you have to attempt all the questions related to it. Move on if you are unable to understand what is being asked/ unable to eliminate options. No wild guessing please. Do practice the para-based questions & do not skip the TITA questions. There is no minimum threshold of the number of attempts... Do your best.

king : GOOD EVENING. HOW TO PREPARE FOR VARC.
darshanamishra : Read for around 40 minutes everyday. Practise from study material. take sectional tests followed by full length mocks reguarly.

nitin : FOR LR, WOULD MOCKS AND SECTIONALS SUFFICE AS PRACTICE MATERIALS ?
ashwinvariyar : Yes. Attempt from Study Materials and Handouts. Once you feel comfortable with some topics, attempt the relevant sectional tests. Analyse the sectional test that you attempt. Also attempt AIMCATs and analyse the AIMCATs you attempt

baca4a007 : CAN I IMPROVE MY LR SECTION BY SOLVING TIME HANDOUTS ONLY OR DO I NEED TO LOOK FOR ANY OTHER BOOKS
ashwinvariyar : TIME Handouts, Study Material, Sectional Tests, AIMCATs, SAMCATs

sanskar : HI, REGARDING SOLVING RC QUESTIONS IN THE EXAM, I SAW SOME SUGGESTIONS THAT WHILE READING THE PARAGRAPHS WE CAN WRITE KEY TAKEAWAY FROM EACH PARAGRAPH, WHICH WILL HELP WHILE SOLVING QUESTIONS, WOULD YOU SUGGEST SUCH AN APPROACH?
lakshmymenon : It can help if your reading speed is good. When you answer the questions, you will have to revisit the passage to check the relevant portions. Writing the keywords can help you save time here. Make sure you write only 1-2 key words from each para, that too in short forms.

chandrahas : GOOD EVENING SIR I AM CHANDRAHAS I AM NEW JOINING STUDENT TO COURSE , I HAVE DOUBT REGARDING THE READING COMPREHENSION . HOW MUCH TIME BE ADVISABLE FOR TAKING IN RC?
lakshmymenon : Time for RC in CAT? Or for preparation?

adcc4t001 : ON WHAT DIFFERENT SUBJECTS SHOULD WE READ ARTICLES?
lakshmymenon : The most common areas seen in CAT RCs are sociology, political science, philosophy, cultural history, linguistics, psychology, biology/genetics, physics and technology.

hycb4a324 : HOW TO IDENTIFY CENTRAL IDEA OF PASSAGE AND IF WE ARE STUCK WITH TWO ANSWERS HOW TO ANSWER RIGHT ONE
darshanamishra : if you get stuck with two options they might have some similarity. Keep them aside for a while and focus on the dissimilar elements. Whichever resonates with the passage is the answer

kcxa4a159 : CHALK OUT A PROCESS FOR PREPARATION OF DILR ,THE EFFICIENT WAY
ashwinvariyar : Go topic by topic in your handouts and study material. Once you get comfortable with some topics, attempt relevant sectional tests.

chandrahas : WHAT IS A DECENT PERCENTILE TO CRACK THESE SECTIONS IN THE EXAM?
lakshmymenon : 85 percentile is the sectional cut off. Please note that 85 percentile is only around 30 per cent, and 99th percentile is around 50 per cent. So, smart selection of questions is essential.

baca4a007 : DOES MOCKS HELP IN PREPARATION
darshanamishra : they do, of course only if taken with right amount of practice and analysis of every mock needs to be done.

angela : WHAT IS THE IDEAL TIME TO COMPLETE THE SYLLABUS IF I HAVE JUST STARTED?
ashwinvariyar : Try to cover the topics by September 1st half. Keep attempting AIMCATs and Sectionals as well during this time. From September 2nd half till November Attempt Mocks, Identify areas you need to work on. Identify proper strategies for attempting the test, etc

sharmr5 : WOULD READING BOOKS ON VARIOUS TOPICS FICTION/NON FICTION HELP IN MAKING THE HABIT FOR BEING ABLE TO READ AND GRASP INFORMATION FOR VARC SECTION?
lakshmymenon : While reading books is always a great idea, I wouldn't advise you to read books for CAT RC preparation. It is better to read short articles on a variety of topics - it is more efficient. The most common areas seen in CAT RCs are sociology, political science, philosophy, cultural history, linguistics, psychology, biology/genetics, physics and technology.

king : BY SOLVING THE STUDY MATERIAL PROVIDED IS ENOUGH FOR PRACTICE IN VARC
darshanamishra : Study material, sectional tests and full length mocks

likhitha : TO SCORE WELL IN VARC WHAT ALL PRACTICES SHOULD BE FOLLOWED ON DAILY BASIS ?
darshanamishra : read for around 40 mins everyday. Reading across topics helps. Sove the study material, take sectional tests, followed by full length mocks with anaysis.

chandrahas : TIME FOR RC IN CAT SIR
darshanamishra : you could dedicated 30 mins for RC and 10 for VA

baca4a007 : ARE ALL RC DIFFICULT
darshanamishra : That will depend on the question types, Subject of the passage and your level of relatibility with that subject area

pai : LR IS A BIT DIFFICULT HOW TO IMPROVE LOGICAL SKILLS
ashwinvariyar : Practise each topic. Get comfortable with different types of Questions in a topic. Go to the next topic and repeat the process. Once you get comfortable with a few topics, start attempting sectional tests.

nasa : HI, HOW CAN I IMPROVE MY ACCURACY IN VARC?
darshanamishra : Practise from study material, take sectional tests and full length mocks with analysis.

kcxa4a159 : IMPORTANT AREAS IN GRAMMAR TO FOCUS UPON?
lakshmymenon : Grammar is not tested in CAT, but it is tested in all other exams. Also, awareness of grammar helps in solving RC and VA. If you attend the grammar classes and go through our study material exercises, it is more than enough.

nasa : HI, HOW CAN I IMPROVE MY ACCURACY IN VAR C? WHEN I GIVE SECTIONALS IT RANGES BETWEEN 50-80 AND IN MOCKS IT'S ABOUT 50-60 HOW CAN I MAKE SURE THAT I ATTEMPT THE CORRECT QUESTIONS THAT ARE MENT FOR ME AND INCREASE MY ACCURACY FOR ATLEAST 80?
ashwinvariyar : For RCs especially learn to eliminate options while answering questions. Also do not rush yourself while reading the passage or attempting the questions.

gwca4a043 : HOW MANY RC PER DAY I HAVE TO SOLVE TO SCORE DECENT PERCENTILE IN CAT
tarannumraza : Depends on your ability. Start with 3 along with proper analysis of the same. The T.I.M.E. study material is the best prep. Go through them alongwith the online sectional tests.

vanshika : WHAT TYPE OF ARTICLES SHOULD WE READ
tarannumraza : Good quality ones on subjects like sociology, philosophy, literature, environment...on different topics.

bet : WHERE CAN I GET ARTICLES TO READ FROM, FOR EVERYDAY READING?
darshanamishra : SHP, The hindu, Aeon Essays, Indian Express, Harvard business review, etc

sharmr5 : WHAT IS THE BEST APPROACH ONE SHOULD FOLLOW TO PRACTICE THE TOPICS FOR VARC?
darshanamishra : Practise from Study material. Take sectional tests. Take AIMCATs. Read everyday across topics and subjects

ansi : HELLO SIR, I HAVE BEEN DOING WELL IN SECTIONAL OF VERBAL 85%+. I RECENTLY TOOK AIMCAT AND MY SCORES HAVE DROPPED A LOT. VERBAL I GOT 6MARKS AND IT WAS WORRISOME. HOW DO I IMPROVE SIR, I HAVE BEEN CONSISTENT IN READING EDITORIALS FROM THE HINDU ETC.. 2 HOURS A DAY
darshanamishra : Practise sets from study material on RC and VA and take sectional tests along with reading.

nitin : WHILE LOOKING FOR THE PASSAGE'S CENTRAL IDEA, CAN THE PASSAGE THAT FOLLOWS THE CURRENT ONE GIVE A HINT ?
ashwinvariyar : Central Idea of a passage will be based on that particular passage. Not any other passage.

vanshika : ANY SITES SUGGESTION FOR ARTICLES INCAT PREP
lakshmymenon : Aeon Essays (they cover a wide range of topics, but the articles are lengthy. Just read a few paras from the articles.), Guardian, Economist, The Hindu editorial, BBC, National Geographic, Scroll, Stone by New York Times, Scientific American, Psychology Today,Wired.

somachandiran : FOR RC SHOULD I GO FOR PASSAGE FIRST OR QUESTION FIRST TO BE READ?
darshanamishra : That should deoend on what works or you. Try both approaches in mocks and see when do you score better.

roshith : WHAT MAKES A QUESTION A DIFFICULT ONE IN VARC?
darshanamishra : If the questions are on advanced CR and you have not practised CR well it could get challenging. Basically all CR question types you need to practise.

sagar : IM SCORING REALLY GOOD IN RC , BUT I AM GETTING A LOT OF WRONG ANSWERS IN VA. WHAT SHOULD BE MY STRATEGY?
darshanamishra : Practise what you are getting wrong. Analyse why the mistakes are happening

shine : CAN YOU GIVE SOME IDEA ABOUT THE IDEAL TIME ALLOCATION FOR VA AND RC AND SOME UPPER LIMIT ON TIME ALLOCATION FOR EACH RC. AS IN IF I CROSS THAT I SHOULD SKIP RATHER THAN COMMITTING MORE TIME TO IT.
darshanamishra : 30 mins for RC and 10 mins for VA. You might want to give 10 mins per passage and if you think you can attempt all 4 passages then you can give 7-8 mins per passage

grijesh : GJJHH
ashwinvariyar : What is your Question?

jrca4a222 : I AM NOT SCORING ANY THING IN VARC
lakshmymenon : Do not give up - you have enough time. Hope you're taking AIMCATs regularly. Analyse your mistakes by watching video solutions. Try to identify flaws in your strategy and improve question selection, time allocation etc. Read articles on a wide range of topics regularly.

jrca4a222 : IGOT -3 IN MY LAST AIMCAT IN VARC
tarannumraza : Do a proper analysis. Did you picked answers randomly? Did you misinterpret the question? Were you in a hurry to answer a pre-decided 'x' number of questions? Do you put in daily practice from the study material or just go from AIMCAT to AIMCAT? The answers to these will help.

muskan : HOW MUCH TIME SHOULD BE GIVEN DAILY FOR VA RC AND LR AND HOW TO PREPARE FOR THE SAME LIKE FOR DAILY WHAT WE SHOULD STUDY ?
darshanamishra : Read everyday across topics. Solve the study material, take sectional tests and take AIMCATs

adcc4t001 : CAN READING THE QUESTION FIRST EACH TIME AND THEN READING THE RC BE A GOOD STRATEGY TO SOLVE RC QUESTIONS?
darshanamishra : It could be if you can guage the subject area and question type well by reading the questions first so that you can choose your order of solving

ansi : SIR MY RECENT AIMCAT2521 PERFORMANCE HAS BEEN SAD - I GOT 20MARKS. VERBAL(6MARK) I THOUGHT THE PASSAGES WERE LENGTHY AND I FOUND MYSELF BEING STUCK FOR 10 MINS IN ONE RC PASSAGE.VERBAL HAS BEEN MY STRENGTH OTHERWISE. AS THE SESSION PROGRESSES, I FEEL LIKE I LOSE MY CONCENTRATION,QUANT I DONT GET TIME TO READ ALL QUESTIONS AT ALL I GET STUCK IN FIRST QUESTIONS
tarannumraza : The difficulty level is the same for everyone, so lengthy passage is not a problem Right choice of questions is important. Do not spend too much time on questions where you are unable to eliminate only 1 option. The AIMCATs will make you go through a gamut of questions of varying difficulty levels. Keep practicing & analyzing all that you practice.

gourav : GOR 17 IN VARC IN THE LAST MOCK.
lakshmymenon : Analyse your mistakes by watching the video solutions. Try to understand the nature of your mistakes, and see how you can improve your strategy (question selection, number of attempts, allocation of time etc.)

sharmr5 : IN TERMS FOR LR WHAT WOULD BE THE BEST APPROACH FOR US TO PRACTICE SHOULD WE COVER JUST QUESTIONS OR GO TO A THOROUGH TOPIC WISE REIVISION?
ashwinvariyar : For LR go topic by topic. Solve questions for different sets of a particular topic and move towards the next topic. Also attempt sectional tests, once you get comfortable with a few topics

adcc4t001 : ON MY 8TH TEST I GOT 59 PERCENTILE WHICH IS THE HIGHEST COMPARED TO PREVIOUS TESTS, AM I GOING WELL?
ashwinvariyar : Key is to keep improving. Analyze each test that you attempt. Identify areas you are struggling in and work on them

gourav : GOT 17 IN VARC IN THE LAST MOCK. HOW TO MAKE A STARTEGY TO TAKE MY SCORE TO HIGHER 40S IN THE NEXT MOCK? HOW MANY SETS TO SOLVE EVERYDAY OF VA AND RC EACH? WHAT TO READ? HOW TO DO EFFECTIVE LEARNING, SO THAT IT REFLECTS ON MY NEXT MOCK?
darshanamishra : Read across topics, take sectional tests, solve the study material regularly

simle123 : GOOD EVENING, FOR VA ( PARA JUMBLE) SOMETIMES IT BECOMES SO HARD TO FIND WHICH CAN BE THE OPENING STATEMENT AS ALL THE LOOKS LIKE THEY CAN BE A OPENING STATEMENT? SO WHAT IS THE METHOD OR APPROACH TO GET THE PJ QS WRITE. I'VE BEEN PRACTICING THE VA STUDY PRACTICE BUT THE ACCURACY IS STILL A PROBLEM PLS SUGGEST SOLUTION FOR THIS.
lakshmymenon : The opening sentence either presents the topic or catches attention. It could be a definition, reference to the past, introduction of a problem, description of a phenomenon etc. Very often, starting sentences are general in nature - though not always. The starting sentence is not dependent on other sentences. After applying all these principles if you still can't find the order, it is better to move on without wasting time.

ansi : SIR DILR, I HAVE DONE CHARTS AND GRAPHS PROPERLY, BUT SOMEHOW THE LEVEL OF DILR IN SAMCATS AND AIMCATS IS QUITE TOUGH, A LOT TOUGHER THAN MODULES OR HANDOUTS.. WHAT DO I DO
ashwinvariyar : Attempt relevant sectional tests to get better. Also analyze where you are going wrong in the SAMCATs / AIMCATs and try to rectify the same. Look at the solutions provided and try to learn from them

hocc4t060 : I HAVE ONE QUESTION THAT IS I AM PRACTICING BUT I AM STILL NOT ABLE TO CRACK RC SECTION, I UNDERSTAND THE PASSAGE BUT STILL UNABLE TO ANSWER THE QUESTION ASKED IN AIMCATS. WHAT COULD I DO TO IMPROVE IN THIS?
lakshmymenon : Do not try to blindly answer all questions based on a passage, just because you have read it. For each question, eliminate the obviously wrong options. Then for the confusing options, go back to the passage and check carefully, trying to identify distortions, far-fetched statements, omissions etc. If you're still confused, leave that question rather than risk negative marks.

diya : ONCE QUANTS SYLLABUS IS OVER AND MODULES IS COMPLETED THEN WHAT SHOULD BE THE STRATEGY
ashwinvariyar : Attempt sectional tests and analyze them. Also keep an eye on your performance in AIMCATs

adcc4t001 : HOW TO DECIDE WHICH SET OF DILR SHOUL BE SKIPPED SINCE I GUESS WE ARE SUPPOSED TO SOLVE 2.5 SETS?
ashwinvariyar : 2.5 sets is not set in stone. Depends on the level of the paper. Set selection is something that you will get better at with practice. Generally in a set if you have to rework the set for multiple questions - be careful. At this stage of preparation, set selection is also influenced by the topics that you are comfortable in.

ansi : SIR IN VARC IM OKAY EXCEPT FOR THE ROOTS-1,2,3
tarannumraza : The RPS 9root-prefix-suffix) method is a fast & easy way to improve your vocabulary. Revise the handouts + your class-notes from time to time.

ansi : SIR HOW DO I UNDERSTAND ROOT WORDS,PREFIXES AND SUFFIXES, SEEMS LIKE THE CONCEPT IS ENDLESS AND IT CANT BE COVERED.. ANY RESOURCES? ANY GUIDANCE FOR THE SAME, ITS THE ONE PART IVE SKIPPED BECAUSE OF THE DEPTH OF THE CONCEPT. SHOULD I TAKE REPEAT CLASSES OR STUDY MODULES OR YOUTUBE, PLS GUIDE
lakshmymenon : Roots, prefixes and suffixes are only aids to help you in remembering words. You do not need to learn all the root words - it is impossible. Revise the handouts and go through the vocabulary Study Material. Apart from this, read articles on a variety of topics. Look up the meanings of tough words and note them down in a book. Revise from time to time. This is the best way to improve vocabulary.

ashutosh : CAN YOU PLEASE TELL ME THE AREAS I SHOULD READ TO IMPROVE MY COMPREHENSION LIKE PHILOSOPHY, SCIENCE ETC. ALSO I AM STRUGGLING IN PHILOSOPHY WHAT DO U SUGGEST I SHOULD START WITH IN PHILOSOPHY?
ashwinvariyar : Read editorials everyday form The Hindu, The Indian Express, Guardian.co.uk Also read Aeon Essays. Please read at least 2-3 articles daily.

ansi : SIR PARA JUMBLE IS THE HARDEST FOR ME IN VA. I GET THE FIRST SENTENCE RIGHT BUT THE REST OF THEM - THEY ARE STILL CONFUSING. ANY METHOD?
lakshmymenon : The first step is to understand some principles of paragraph formation. Different patterns of idea flow are possible - general to specific, specific-general, general-specific-general etc. When you look at a question, start identifying pairs of sentences using connectives etc. Then look at the pattern of idea flow for better accuracy. Some principles of common sense can be used too - definitions etc. come first, cause and then effect, problem and then solution etc.

chandrahas : I AM PRACTICING AS PER THE TOPICS COVERED DAILY IT ADDITION TO PREVIOUS TOPICS WHICH WERE TAUGHT IN PREVIOUS CLASSES , IS IT ENOUGH AS I AM BEGINNER? SHOULD I DO SOMETHING ELSE? I AM GOING WRITE EXAM IN THIS NOVEMBER
darshanamishra : Take sectional tests followed by AIMCATs

ansi : SIR WOULD YOU RECOMMEND VARC1000 I REALLY WANT TO IMPROVE
darshanamishra : Read across topics from RC links on your SHP and various other articles and editorials. Solve the study material, take sectional tests before AIMCATs and analyse your mocks

kcxa4a159 : TOPICS FREQUENTLY GIVEN FOR RCS IN CAT?
lakshmymenon : The most common areas seen in CAT RCs are sociology, political science, philosophy, cultural history, linguistics, psychology, biology/genetics, physics and technology.

ansi : IIM C IS PREPARING CAT24 SIR ANY PECULIAR POINTS TO NOTE THAT WE CAN KEEP IN MIND FOR OUR PREP. ANY TOUGH SECTION/COMPARITIVELY EASIER SECTION?
ashwinvariyar : The level of CAT will not drastically change because a particular institute is organizing the test.

diya : I HAVE BEEN SOLVING RC REGULARLY BUT THERE IS NO PROGRESS. WHAT SHOULD I DO?
tarannumraza : Read the passage & write the key words for each para - helps to trace the idea flow & understand the tone plus the central idea. If there is clarity with respect to the content, you will be able to pick the right answers. Make sure that you understand what is being asked. Eliminate options, accordingly. A directly stated answer choice cannot be the answer to an inference/ assumption based question. When stuck between two choices, try to find the difference between them. Attempt the online sectional tests to help increase reading speed in the online mode. You have to be patient with VARC. Regular practice will help you improve in the section.

aum : HOW TO INCREASE ACCURACY
darshanamishra : Practise, analyse your mistakes and work on them in next tests

chandrahas : ANY SUGGESTIONS REGARDING ATTENDING TO AIMCAT TOMORROW AS ITS MY FIRST AIMCAT?
tarannumraza : Try to understand & then answer. Do not take wild guesses.

ansi : MA'AM I READ TH EVERYDAY AND MY RC HAS IMPROVED. ANYTHING ELSE I CAN ADD TO MY ROUTINE TO ACE VARC READING VISE - BOOKS, AEON ETC.. ?
darshanamishra : You could read Aeon essays too, there are RC links on SHP too.

prateek : I'M ABLE TO ATTEMPT ONLY 3 SETS OF RC IN AIMCAT NOT ABLE TO EVEN START VA. HOW CAN I INCREASE MY SPEED/ATTEMPTS? SHOULD I START WITH VA THEN MOVE TO RC OR DO 2 SETS OF RC AND MOVE TO VA ? HOW CAN I MAXIMISE MY MARKS ?
darshanamishra : Take sectional tests as it will help you improve your accuracy and speed in both VA and RC. Identify which is your strength and choose that first

qlca4a032 : HI THERE! DESPITE BEING GOOD IN READING BOOKS AND NEWSPAPER, I STILL STRUGGLE TO FIND OUT THE ANSWERS OF THE RC SECTION. I NEEDA VALUABLE SUGGESTION FROM YOU PEOPLE ON HOW TO IMPROVE THE SAME.
darshanamishra : Work on critical reasoning concepts. Take sectional tests on them. Take sectional tests on RC

ijk : IN VARC I'M LINGERING AROUND 30-35 MARKS, MOST OF THE TIME IM ABLE TO ATTEMPT >=20 QUESTIONS, BUT MY ACCURACY IS BETWEEN 50-70, SHOULD I CHANGE MY STRATERGY TO LOWER ATTEMPTS/ HIGHER ACCURACY(I HAVE TRIED THIS IN LAST 2 WEEKS, BUT IM GETTING LOWER THAN WHAT I WAS GETTING PREVIOUSLY), OR SHOULD I STICK WITH HIGHER ATTEMPTS AND TRY TO IMPROVE ACCURACY(I HAVE BEEN STUCK ON THE 30-35 SINCE THE LAST ATTEMPT)
darshanamishra : If the section is challenging maximising attempts would not help much. improving accuracy is always the key, however do keep a check on the level of difficulty of the section before solving too many questions

srishti : FOR MY PREVIOUS AIMCAT, I GOT THE FEEDBACK THAT I SHOULD IDENTIFY QUESTIONS TO LEAVE OUT - SO WHEN IN DOUBT, SHOULD I LEAVE, OR ATTEMPT?
darshanamishra : If you have solved decent number of questions and if you are not able to take an educated guess then better leave it

qlca4a032 : I FIND IT DIFFICULT IN UNDERSTANDING THE QUESTIONS OF LR AND EVEN A SMALL MISTAKE CAN COST THE ENTIRE ANSWERS. PLEASE GIVE ME A SUGGESTION ON IMPROVING IT.
ashwinvariyar : Practise each topic. Get comfortable with different types of Questions in a topic. Go to the next topic and repeat the process. Once you get comfortable with a few topics, start attempting sectional tests

srishti : IS 76 PERCENTILE FOR THE FIRST AIMCAT BAD?
lakshmymenon : It is quite good, and you have great potential. Keep taking and anlysing mocks, and try to perfect your strategy. Good luck.

dr : I DO ANALYSE MY PERFORMANCE AFTER AN AIMCAT BUT I AM NOT SURE ABOUT WHAT ALL ASPECTS OF A RC SHOULD BE ANALYSED TO BETTER MY SCORE? PLEASE SUGGEST HOW TO EFFICIENTLY ANALYSE MY RCS AFTER AN AIMCAT.
lakshmymenon : Firstly, listen to the video solutions of the questions you got wrong. Try to understand the flaws in your logic, and write down the observations if required so that you can revise these notes before the next mock. Then, check your accuracy and try to spot flaws in strategy - did you attempt too many questions or too few? Did you spend too much time on a question and still get it wrong? Did you attempt a question even when you knew it was confusing etc.

srishti : HI :) HOW DO I IMPROVE MY LR? I'M REALLY STRUGGLING WITH THEM IN SPITE OF PRACTICE
ashwinvariyar : Practise in a specific manner - Practise each topic. Get comfortable with different types of Questions in a topic. Go to the next topic and repeat the process. Once you get comfortable with a few topics, start attempting sectional tests

shruti : HELLO SIR SHRUTI THIS SIDE I JUST WANT A GUIDANCE HOW TO IMPROVE MY DILR & VARC PART BECAUSE IN AIMCATS I THOUGHT THAT THE QUESTION I DID IS GOING TO RIGHT BUT IN RESULTS THEY ARE WRONG ..I DONT KNOW WHERE I M LACKING
lakshmymenon : For VARC, listen to the video solutions of the questions you got wrong. Understand what was wrong with the option you picked. Note down the nature of your error if required, so that you can refer to the notes before the next mock. Before picking an answer, compare each option carefully with the relevant parts of the passage. Look for distortions, far fetched statements etc. Start evolving a strategy by being selective with your attempts, managing time efficiently etc.

prateek : HOW TO DETERMINE IF A PASSAGE IS DIFFICULT, IT'S ONLY WHEN YOU REACH 3-4TH PARA YOU REALIZE IT'S QUITE COMPLICATED BUT END UP FINISHING IT BECAUSE YOU HAVE ALREADY INVESTED 5-6 MINS. IN IT. SOMETIMES THE PASSAGE IS EASY BUT QUESTIONS ARE TOUGH.
tarannumraza : Identify the topics that you find difficult to comprehend. Then read more passages related to it. Read on topics you find challenging. By the end of 1st/2nd para, you should be able to decide whether to read further or move on.

srishti : I ALSO NEED HELP IN COMING WITH A PROPER SCHEDULE THAT'D HOLD ME ACCOUNTABLE WITH PRACTICE, DO YOU HAVE ANY RECOMMENDATIONS? I REALLY STRUGGLE WITH PROCRASTINATION :(
lakshmymenon : Take mocks regularly and keep a target for each subsequent mock. Try to identify your weak areas and list them down. Decide how much time you can realistically allot to each of these areas every day/every week. Make a daily schedule based on this - but keep it practical and leave enough time for leisure etc. Then push yourself to follow this schedule as much as possible. Even small improvements make a big difference. Good luck.

neeti : WHAT POINTS SHOULD BE KEPT IN MIND WHEN READING AEON ESSAY?
darshanamishra : If you can read and comprehend at the same time. Are you requiring to re read it to understand it fully. Try to summarise what you read.

srishti : HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH RC QUESTIONS WHEN DETAILS ARE TOO TECHNICAL? OR AMBIGUOUS OPTIONS?
darshanamishra : All the answers will be from the passage itself. If you find it too technical then do the easier questions if any and leave the rest. With very close options, look for the dissimilarities and see what resonates with ideas in the passage. Also, read upon topics you may not be very comfortable with.

hocc3w123 : MY VARC MOCKS SCORES ARE FLUCTUATING TOO MUCH FROM 40 MARKS TO 9 MARKS ..... PLEASE HELP
tarannumraza : Analyze the ones in which you have scored badly. Try to pinpoint the reasons for your mistakes & work on them.

vaishnavi0_0 : SIR I'M LACKING IN TIME MANAGEMENT IN EVERY SECTION HOW CAN IMPROVE MY SPEED
darshanamishra : Take sectional tests
