gagan : Pl. solve your Quant Booklets and handout as per the flow of the class. Get your doubts solved with the help of solution booklet or with the hrlf op a faculty at the centre.Revise topics regularly ...

ishita : HOW MANY HOURS TO DEDICATE BY SELF STUDY?
siddhartharora : The best way is to finish the topic started. Like once you have done a topic in the class, start with the SM and try to complete all exercises and at least 1 sectional test for the same before the next topic is done in the next class. Quantum of hours will vary from student to student and cannot be generalised

muca4a098 : SIR SINCE JOINING THE CLASS AND STARTING MY STUDIES, I HAVE FOCUSED MORE ON QA THAN ANY OTHER SUBJECT, WHERE TO START WITH LR
thomas : for Lr you can start with the basic SM book and also the initial class handouts. do the basic online sectional tests of the topic after completion of each topic

shreyas : SIR CURRENTLY I AM NOT ABLE TO INCREASE MY MARKS IN MOCKS IN QA AND DILR DISPITE HAVING DONE THE CONCEPTS PLEASE GIVE TIPS TO IMPROVE?
siddhartharora : The best way is practice, solve the questions from SM thoroughly. Give sectional tests. Analyse where you take more time and which type of questions you find difficult and prepare accordingly

saadiq : CAN ANYONE PLEASE EXPLAIN OR PROVIDE A DETAIL SUMMARY ON PREPARATION FOR QUANT
raman : Firstly complete the Basic Study material ASAP. Then take up sessional tests topic wise. Ideally you should be up to date with the class. Sooner the topic gets over, complete EX (b) as well.

hocd4a582 : DILR PREPARATION STRATEGY
govindrajan : Start with classroom handouts followed by online foundation tests and then exercise (a) of each chapter. After covering a few topics you may start attempting online intermediate tests. Simultaneously solve questions from Self administered AIMCATs. You may start solving exercise (b) and online advanced tests. After a couple of months you start practicing questions from lot 2 material.

binit : GOOD EVENING SIR
thomas : good evening. please post your question

sam : HOW MANY QUESTIONS SHOULD WE ATTEMPT FROM THE TOTAL NUMBER OF QUESTIONS?
siddhartharora : This will vary as per student. However, initially you should try to check as what type of questions are easily solvable and which type take more time. Once done, focus on the onces which take less time and have more accuracy. Typically for 99+ percentile once should solve around 18 questions with 90% accuracy in quant and around 15 to 16 for DI?LR

krithik : HOW TO COMPLETE THE WHOLE PORTION FOR QUANTS IN 6 MONTHS PLEASE HELP. MY CURRENT SCHEDULE CAN MANAGE ONLY 2 HOURS FOR CAT PREPS
gagan : Pl. complete your Quant booklet first as per the floe of the class. get your doubts solved .Revise the topics ...

swastik_srivast : IS THERE ANY VIDEO SEESION?
siddhartharora : Can you please elaborate your query, if you are talking about video course or anything else

jatinsahoo : HOW TO SOLVE LR QUESTIONS QUICKLY AND ACCURATELY??
govindrajan : Once you read the initial few lines of a puzzle/DI set, you will get to know what kind of puzzle/DI set we are going to solve. This does not take more than 30 to 40 seconds. Give a quick read to the given data spending about a minute time. Do not try to analyse the information at this stage. Spend a couple of minutes to read the questions and the type of answer choices. In case the questions have "If" conditions, it indicates that we get more than one possible solution. The questions let us know how to use the given information. All these should happen in about 3 minutes. Then start going through the information carefully. While doing this decide which statement to be picked up first and the order in which the other pieces of information are to be used. This way we can have a smooth flow of thought process and take less time to solve.

rishabh : SIR APPORACH FOR MANAGING SELF STUDY WITH CLASS
siddhartharora : Once the topic is done in class, read the SM and solve the exercises. Post the same attempt the sectional tests. As the exam starts coming near, start giving more tests (including sectional tests and SAMCATs)

ndca4a208 : HOW TO PREPARE FOR GK
thomas : make sure you regularly read a general newspaper and a business newspaper and do follow all the topics in our magazine.

ankita : SIR I'M TOTALLY A BEGINNER I UV NO KNOWLEDGE ..... IS IT POSSIBLE TO CRACK CAT 24 IN THESE 8 KONTH??
thomas : most cat questions can be solved if you have good understanding of class 9 and 10 maths. you have 8 months more to prepare and if you work hard, it is more than enough to cover all the topics and the tests we provide.

pnca4a635 : SIR I'M HAVING A LOT OF DIFFICULTY IN SOLVING DI. HOW CAN I COPE WITH THAT? I DON'T UNDERSTAND FROM WHERE SHOULD I START
thomas : DI and LR can be improved only with practice. Try to solve as many sets as you can. do not worry even if you take 20 25 minutes to solve a set. in the exam, yo have 40 minutes and if you can solve two sets accurately, you should get a score around 98-99 percentile.

sumona : SIR HOW MANY HOURS SHOULD I PREPARE FOR QUANT
gagan : try to prepare for around 2.5 to 3 hrs per day for quant. Pl. also allocate time for two other sections accordingly...

krithik : SIR ALSO I AM NOT ABLE TO SOLVE A QUESTION EVEN IN TWO MINUTES. I TAKE APPROX 3-4 MINS FOR ONE QUESTION CAN BE MORE IN SOME CASES. IS IT OK FOR NOW
siddhartharora : That is fine, the more you practice, the better you will get. Focus on understanding the concepts as of now and speed will come with practice.

muca4a098 : I FEEL LIKE I CAN SOLVE A GIVEN LR QUESTION, BUT NOT IN TIME. IN THE RECENT AIMCAT, I COULD ONLY SOLVE 2 SETS IN 40 MINUTES WHEN I FEEL LIKE I SHOULD BE ABLE TO SOLVE 3.
gagan : Keep practicing. Also solve the booklets/ Sectional tests / Self administered test/ AIMCATS as available on the portal...

hocn4q035 : HOW TO INCREASE SPEED....AND HOW MUCH TIME WE SHOULD TO GV TO PER QUESTION TO ATTEMPT MAXIMUM NUMBER OF QUESTION ON THE DAY

gagan : Pl. complete the material as per the flow of the batch. Pl. attempt sectional tests / Full length tests as available on SHP. Get you doubts solved through solution booklet or with the help of a faculty at the centre. Keep regular practice and revise ...

muca4a098 : WHAT SHOULD WE DO AFTER FINISHING A BOOKLET
siddhartharora : give tests like sectional tests, SAMCATs, previous years papers and AIMCATs

uv : FEW TIPS ON MANAGING BOTH COLLEGE AS WELL AS CAT PREPARATION
siddhartharora : Right now, for you only college and CAT matters. You need to "Steal Time". Like whilke travelling, try to read concepts, or open SHP on your phone and read RC passages given. During 1 hour lunch break, try to finish it in 20 mts and give a 40 mts sectional test.

binit : HOW MANY CHAPTERS ARE IMPORTANT FOR QA AND DLR.
gagan : Pl. complete the booklets provided by the TIME. Attempt the sectional tests / Full length tests as available on SHP...

krithik : ALSO SIR FOR DILR I FIND ARUN SHARMA QUESTIONS PRETTY DIFFICULT BUT THE HANDOUT QUESTIONS COMPARATIVELY SIMPLER SO SHOULD I CONTINUE WITH HANDOUTS OR ARUN SHARMA
thomas : do the handouts as the initial ones are kept easy so as to help you understand the concepts properly. you will get difficult handouts later. you need not refer to any other material

student : HOW TO KNOW IF WE NEED TO PREPARE MULTIPLE CASES IN LR
govindrajan : Once you identify how to arrange the given information, start filling it. As you pick each piece of information you will know whether it leads to a single case or more than one. Sometimes the immediate next clue itself may rule out one of the possibilities. If it not happening so, prepare the second case as well. The question format may also give some clue. The 'if conditions' in the questions indicate that we may get more than one possible case., Answer choices like 'Cannot be determined" also indicate, though not necessarily, possibility of multiple cases.

sam : WHAT ABOUT THE TITA QUESTIONS? ARE THERE ANY MINIMUM NUMBER OF TITA QUESTIONS THAT YOU SHOULD SURELY ANSWER?
siddhartharora : there is no such requirement

saiprasanna : SIR AS A BEGINNER HOW SHOULD WE START THE SELF STUDY ? PLEASE HELP WITH THE PREPARATION STRATEGY
govindrajan : Start with classroom handouts followed by online foundation tests and then exercise (a) of each chapter. After covering a few topics you may start attempting online intermediate tests. Simultaneously solve questions from Self administered AIMCATs. You may start solving exercise (b) and online advanced tests. After a couple of months you start practicing questions from lot 2 material.

cccb4a056 : DOES THE CAT SCORE DEPEND ON HOW MUCH ACCURATE I AM?
thomas : no. accuracy rate has no role on the percentile. it is only based on the net score.

binit : HOW MANY CHAPTERS ARE IMPORTANT FOR QA AND DLR IN THE CAT EXAM, PLEASE SUGGEST THEM TO ME.
thomas : there is nothing like an important chapter as the questions can be from anywhere. please have a look at the previous years papers to get an idea of the type and variation in questions

elamuhil : IM PREPARING FOR BOTH CAT AND GATE, HOW MANY HOURS I NEED TO PROVIDE FOR CAT PREPARATION?
siddhartharora : It all depends from student to student and cannot be generalised. The best way is to finish at least one topic per section per week from SM and give sectional tests for the same as well. One SAMCAT per week will also help.

hocd4z039 : DO WE NEED TO LEARN FRACTIONS AND PERCENTAGES FOR SOLVING THE QUANT?
thomas : those are topics which will help you in both quant and di. knowing them will help you be faster in calculations

drcb4a206 : HOW MANY MINIMUM QUESTIONS SHOULD I PRACTICE DAILY FOR DI AND LR?
gagan : Try to practice 4 DILR sets daily from class Handout/ Booklets provided/ Sectional Tests/ Full length tests...

gagan : You can practice from Special support booklet on Quant provided. After that you can solve from Booklets/ class handout for more clarity. In case of doubts, you can refer to the solution booklet or take the help of a faculty in a doubt session...

siddhartharora : In CAT 2023, there were 22 questions in QA and 20 in DI/LR. Number of attempts will vary as per difficulty and what percentile is desireable and hence cannot generalise

harithaparimi : SIR, WILL VIDEO LECTURES IN THE APP HELP TO COPE UP WITH THE CONCEPTS? ESPECIALLY QA,DI AND LR? BUT WE HAVE LIMITED ACCESS?
thomas : The video lectures have explanations in detail which should be good enough for an average student to understand.

siddanth : WHAT IS THE RIGHT TIME TO GIVE SECTIONAL TESTS.LIKE IF SOMEONE HAS COMPLETED 2-3 CHAPTERS ,THEY CAN GO FOR SECTIONAL TESTS?
siddhartharora : Try to start with special support book (SM1002220) and practice more.

siddhartharora : There will be sessions on speed maths, it is part of the course

hyca4a686 : OUT OF 22 QUESTIONS ATLEAST HOW MANY QUESTIONS I HAD TO ATTEMPT IN QUANT ATLEAST TO PASS IN THIS SECTION
siddhartharora : CAT is a competition and not a board or university exam. There is no pass/fail here. You need to score better than others to get admission in a good B School. Your performance does not matter, your performance relative to other students matter. Focus on maximising your score and attempt questions where you are confident to score.

sam : WHERE CAN WE FIND THE SPECIAL SUPPORT BOOKLET FOR QUANT? AND IS IT ONLY AVAILABLE FOR QUANT OR FOR OTHERS TOO?
gagan : In the first study packet provided by the center...

varshith : SIR, IS IT OK TO GIVE SAMCATS WITH PARTIAL PREPARATION. I AM SCARED OF GETTING LESS MARKS
govindrajan : While attempting SAMCATs, depending on your preparation levels, decide the number of questions that you want to attempt before taking the test. Once you start the test, carefully choose the questions and attempt by paying attention on being accurate rather than the number of attempts. You will feel confident when you get positive score. As your preparation level increase, attempt higher number of questions in SAMCAT. This way you will gain confidence. Desist from trying to higher number of questions. This will only lead to more negative marks.
