sandeep : SIR AS SEEN ENGLISH SECTION IN MAINS THAT WAS OUT OF BOX. I WAS NOT ABLE TO CLEAR THE CUT OFF OF ENGLISH SECTION. SO NEED YOUR HELP HOW TO PREPARE FOR THAT.. ALL THE GRAMMAR BASED QUESTION GONE NOW
hidayathullah : Hi. This session we are answering Quant and Reasoning queries. We have English session scheduled on 27th Feb. Please login next monday, your queries will be answered. Any questions related to Quant and Reasoning, you may go ahead and answer.

charu : COULD YOU PLEASE SUGGEST ANY STUDY MATERIAL FOR SBI PO PRELIMS EXAM OTHER THAN TIME'S HANDOUT?
hidayathullah : Please solve previous year papers - Kiran Publications along with T.I.M.E. material.

yogesh : SHORTCUT BASED AND LCM BASED SE SOLVE KESE KARENGE\
hidayathullah : Question pe depend karega. Few questions can be answered using standard shortcuts.

karthik : GOOD AFTERNOON SIR..I AM BASICALLY SLOW IN MATHS .FOR 20 PROBLEMS ITS TAKING AROUND 2 HOURS TO SOLVE COULD U PLEASE GUIDE ME
hussain : Good Afternoon, First of all you need to practice more because you said that you are slow in Maths, Kindly concentrate on subject not on time duration. Prepare concepts and practice well then automatically you will get accuracy and speed, do not worry, better suggestion to you is concentrate more on topics like Percentages profit and loss, Time & Work, Time & Distance, Simple & Compound Interest, Averages, which will help you in D.I also

sandeep : SIR GIVE SOME TIPS FOR MISSING DI.
hidayathullah : Dear Student, You need to learn basic things - Multiplication Tables (Upto 20), Squares of first 50 Natural Nos, Cubes of first 15 Natural numbers, % Equivalents of fractions. After this, you have to apply these while solving questions on DI. To improve your speed, practice daily 3 to 4 sets on DI.

charu : COULD YOU PLEASE SUGGEST ANY ONLINE MOCK TEST SERIES (OTHER THAN TIME WHICH WILL BE BENIFICIAL TO IMPROVE SCORE IN SBI PO
hidayathullah : No Idea. Please check for yourself.

punam : COULD YOU SUGGEST ME THE IMPORTANT TOPICS OF REASONING FOR SBI PO PRELIMS?
krishnakuppachi : Deductions, Inequalities-based conclusions, analytical puzzles, blood relations, direction sense, coding-decoding

nm : IN DI.. TABULAR TYPE OF QUESTIONS REQUIRED MUCH TIME FOR CALCULATIONS.. AND SOMETIMES FIRST U NEED TO CONVERT PERCENT IN NUMBERS..THAT NEED EVEN MORE TIME..SO HOW CAN I SOLVE THEM PROMPTLY?
hidayathullah : Practice more models on these types. You have to be fast in calculations. Study the basic fundamentals. Also, remember no need to solve all 5 questions. You need to choice 2 to 3 questions and solve in 5 mins.

sandeep : SIR NOT SATISFIED WITH YOUR ANSWERS YOU ARE JUST REPEATING THE THINGS FOR DI ANS ... YOU SHOULD TELL HOW HOW WE NEED TO THING AND IN WHICH WAY FOR MISSING DI
hidayathullah : Missing DI - We cannot calculate the actual values. Depending on the question ,you have to calculate the missing values. You will be able to understand if you have any example set. Difficult to explain in CHAT sessions. Here we will be able to guide you what best can be done to tackle with these type of questions rather than getting into actual solving of the questions. All the best!!

karthik : SIR SBI PO STILL 2MONTHS LEFT..IN REASONING IM VERY SLOW IN PUZZLES SAY ONE PUZZLES 20 MIN THAT TOO NOT ACURATE.IN MATHS MOSTLY PROBLEMS TAKES LOT OF TIME TO SOLVE.IS TWO MONTHS SUFFICIENT FOR A CANDIDATE LIKE ME TO QUALIFY IN PRELIMS OF SBI PO.I HEARD ITS THE TOUGHEST EXAM ! ENGLISH I COULD DO BUT THIS OTHER TWO SECTIONS ARE VERY TOUGH FOR ME .PLEASE HELP ME OUT SIR.THANKS SIR.
krishnakuppachi : Hi karthik, I understand your concern. Puzzles generally take more time than the other areas of reasoning. However, one gets to improve with lots of practice. The key to working out on puzzles is that you need to identify the conditions/info which are definitive in nature and then take up other conditions. The faster we can link up the filled in info with the pending conditions, the faster we can arrive at the solutions. I suggest you to go through the entire questions provided in your study material / online sections, atleast 3 times to get a grip on the way to work on puzzles. Remember, practice is the only sure way to improve on speed

nishusingh : CAN U TELL THE IMPORTANT TOPIC OF REASONING,QUANT & DI FOR SBI PO MAIN ?
hidayathullah : Reasoning - Deductions, Inequalities-based conclusions, analytical puzzles, blood relations, direction sense, coding-decoding. Quant - DI - 10 Qs, Series - 5 Qs, Simplification/Approximations - 5 Qs, Quadratic Comparisons - 5 Qs, Individual Qs - About 10 Qs. The important topics are ERPV, Percentages, Profit & Loss, Time & Work, Time & Distance, Averages, Mensuration. For detailed topic wise break up and Analysis go through the URL: http://www.time4education.com/BankExams/Previous-Exam-Analyses/PO-Exam-Analyses

yogesh : ANY SHORTCUT FORMULA OF BLOOD RELATIONS?
sashikumar : first go through the basics(relations)then start practicing individual questions(one mark questions)then start working sets based on only blood relations. Finally start working puzzles based on blood relations with seating arrangement

nm : IN LINE GRAPH QUESTIONS.. SOMETIMES THE EXACT VALUE OF READING AT X AXIS IS NOT GIVEN PROPERLY.. ONLY A GAP GIVEN WITH NO SEPARATION MARK..FOR EXAMPLE 35 IS MARKED AND THEN DIRECTLY 40 IS MARKED.. BUT GRAPH SHOWS POINT JST ABOVE 35...IN THIS CASE..WHAT READING WE SHOULD MARK?
hussain : Based on the gap between 35 and 40, you need to guess the value, If it is exactly in between these two values ( 35 and 40 ) then you consider it as 37.5, take approximately values only. In this type of questions they ask approximate answers

nishusingh : THANKU SO MUCH SIR....
hidayathullah : You are welcome.

yogesh : SIR, MUJHE REASONING SOLVE KRNE ME TIME LAGTA H AND ATLAST REASONING KO CHHOD KR DUSRA SUBJECT PADHNA PADTA H, SO PLZ MOTIVATE ME
krishnakuppachi : Hi yogesh, as you are aware, you cannot skip reasoning section, as there is sectional cut-off. It is important for you to compartmentalise your day to practice on all the areas of questions. Keep 2 hours every day for reasoning to work out questions. While 2 hours a day is very less, given the time left for the exam, it would surely help you improve from your current position. If you find puzzles difficult in the exams, you can first try to finish questions of coding-decoding, deductions, conclusions, blood-relations and miscellaneous individual questions, before proceeding with puzzles.

punam : THANK YOU SIR......
hidayathullah : You are welcome

nm : SIR..RC IN ENGLISH.. DO WE NEED TO GO THROUGH ALL THE PARAGRAPHS GIVEN..OR WE CAN ANSWER THE QUESTIONS..DIRECTLY
hidayathullah : Hi. This session we are answering Quant and Reasoning queries. We have English session scheduled on 27th Feb. Please login next monday, your queries will be answered.

nm : SIR..RC IN ENGLISH..
Please login next monday, your queries will be answered.

karthik : SIR TWO MONTHS ENOUGH FOR SBI PRELIMS FOR AVERAGE STUDENTS WHO STARTED PREPARATION RECENTLY SAY THIS MONTH?IS IT POSSIBLE TO COMPETE WITH PEOPLE WHO ARE STUDING FROM 2-3 YEARS.PLEASE CLEAR MY DILEMMA SIR.THANK YOU..
krishnakuppachi : Hi karthik, yes it's quite possible to compete with anyone. No doubt that the people who have been preparing have had live exam experience in the past, that is no reason to stop yourself from competiting with them. Having said this, you need to understand that you would have to put in more diligent effort towards practice. Competitive exam is all about practice, calm mind and the ability to manage your time well. I feel 2 months is a reasonable time to put in efforts to compete. Wish you all the best, and put your best foot forward. If it helps - "success occurs when oppurtunity meets preparation".

nishusingh : SIR,PRELIMS M KAM SE KAM KITNE QUESTIONS KARNE HONGE PASSING MARKS PWD WALO K LIYE?
hussain : Kindly concentrate on preparation, don't give your exam based on the cutoff requirement, cutoff is calculated based on the level of difficulty of the paper, try to score atleast 50% marks in exam

nm : OK SIR:)
hidayathullah : You may ask Quant and Reasoning questions in this session.

bicky : SIR PLZ SEND ME PREVIOUS YEAR SOLVED S.B.I PO PRILEMARY PAPER
hidayathullah : Please refer Previous year papers - Kiran Publications.

lucky : GOOD AFTERNOON SIR/MADAM,
hidayathullah : Good Afternoon - Please ask your query.

yogesh : ????
hidayathullah : What happened Yogesh? Any query?

musj6a463 : SIR,PLEASE WILL YOU TELL US SEPERATE STRATEGIES FOR BOTH PRELIMS AND MAINS PREPARATIONS?
hidayathullah : Please prepare for Main exam, your prelim exam will be taken care of. In Main exam, you will have difficult question types compared to Prelim. Prepare for these question types. Additionally you have to prepare GA and Computer for Main exam. Start GA preparation right now. Donot wait till you clear your Prelim examination. Particulary GA needs time to prepare. Let us look at test area wise. Quant - DI, Individual Quant questions, Quadratic Comparisons - Imp for both Prelim & Main, Data Sufficiency, Data Comparison - Important for Main exam. Reasoning- Deductions (Syllogisms), Symbols Notations(Inequalities), Blood Relations, Direction Sense - Imp for both Prelim & Main exam, Critical Reasoning, Input Output, Data Sufficiency - Imp for Main exam.

lucky : BLOOD RELATION WITH PUZZEL AND FLOOR PUZZELS WALE QUESTIONS SOLVE KRNE KE LIYE KYA APPROCH HONA CHAHIYE.
krishnakuppachi : While solving BR puzzles, you need to think of the family structure while working out the arrangement. You can start and fill the family tree with all the available info and then move to the arrangement of the family members. This would help to reduce the time a bit. And regarding floor puzzles, usually the direct info will be less, so that an info which gives as 3 options and write all these options and then take forward the question. This way you can keep reducing the options as you proceed with the conditions given.

bicky : THANK U SIR
hussain : Welcome

nm : IS MANSURATION AND NON VERBAL REASONING.. PART OF SBI EXAM?
hussain : It is a part of syllabus, prepare Mensuration and Non Verbal Reasoning also, but more focus is not required, more over there was no question from Non Verbal reasoning in the previous exams.

bicky : ESSAY WAY TO SOLVED COMPARISION AND DISTRUBUTION PUZZELS
krishnakuppachi : Hi, comparisons are the easiest of the puzzles. You need to first fix the order/ranking and then assign the people in ranking. For distribution puzzles, if the question is of a single parameter, then a grid-method is prefarably and if it's multiple parameter, then a table-method is more appropriate.

lucky : DEDUCTION ME CONCLUSION SE STATEMENT FIND KRNE KE LIYE SARE OPTIONS DRAW KRNE PADTE HAI,YE PROCESS BAHUT TIME CONSUME KRTI HAI,PLEASE TELL ME ABOUT ANOTHER METHOD.
sashikumar : first check out the nature of conclusions, if they are affirmative conclusions you can straight away rule out negative statements and vice versa

punam : SIR PLS TELL ME HOW I SOLVE QUES ON DEDUCTION ACCURATELY?
sashikumar : follow the method of drawing basic diagram and alternate diagram,by this method you can solve any question on deductions accurately

gia : SIMPLE TRICKS TO SOLVE REASONING PUZZLES QUICKLY IN EXAMS
krishnakuppachi : When solving Puzzles questions, read the conditions given in the puzzles and identify definitive conditions. They directly fit into the arrangement / distribution. Fill them first. Then re-read the conditions which are not definitive, in line with the part puzzle, already worked out. Then pick up non-definitive conditions which offer you exactly two options, and draw two puzzles (based on each of these options) and then read the pending conditions which fit either of them. The crux of solving puzzles is a lot of practice. You need to put in more efforts in working on these points while practicing the questions. Hope this tip is helpful in your practice

bicky : SORRY SIR BUT ITS TOO LATE
hidayathullah : For What?

lucky : SIR FLOOR PUZZELS ME NAME WITH PROFESSION AND OTHER INFO EK SAATH DI HOTI HAI OR UNKE REGARDING INFO BAHUT KAM DI HOTI HAI,UNHE ARRANGE KRNA IMPOSSIBLE HOTA HAI. MUJHSE ESE PUZZELS ARRANGE NAHI HOTE HAI.
krishnakuppachi : In case of Floor puzzles, whatever are direct info, first fill in. Let's say the question has 7 floors, and we need to assign people to those floors and also it is given with a parameter (profession). Then, you will have 14 empty places to fill in (people & profession) for the floors. Fill in as many as you can directly. Say you can fill in 4 of those. What is not the correct options, write it against the floor beside the table and what is not fittable in the table or beside it, write it in a working space. Once you fill in the definitive points, you revisit the working area, and by now you will be able to identify a few more. Once you fill those, revisit the working area. When you have finished the working area, use the info that you have written beside the table. That way, you keep reducing the options and finally arrive at the full solution

nm : IN COMPOUND INTEREST BIG CALCULATIONS ARE REQUIRED.. IS IT OK TO LEFT THESE PARTICULAR TYPE OF QUESTIONS?
hussain : Always answer the questions easy first, medium next, leave the rest ( but don't take rest ), it is better to leave lengthy calculation based question.

yogesh : NO SIR, THANK YOU SO MUCH SIR FOR CLEAR MY QUERY
hidayathullah : OK Welcome

nishusingh : SIR,APNE JO BTAYA WAHI TOPIC PADHNA SUFFICIENT H SBI PO EXAM K LIYE YA ISKE ALAWA V KOI TOPIC PADHNA HOGA?
hidayathullah : First finish these topics, later you may prepare for remaining topics.

bicky : Q-A SOLUTION OF 60 LITRE OF MILK AND WATER CONTAINS 20% WATER . HOW MANY WATER SHOULD BE ADDED TO ,TO MAKE IT A SOLUTION WITH 40%.
hidayathullah : Assuming resultant solution will 40% water (not mentioned in your question), the following is the solution. Use Alligation rule to solve this question. 60 ltrs x ltrs 20% 100% 40% 60% 20% 60/x =60/20 Therefore x = 20 ltrs

punam : THANK YOU SIR....
hidayathullah : Welcome

musj6a463 : THANK YOU SIR, .... I WANT TO KNOW WHAT SPECIAL TYPE OF QUESTION R BEEN ASKED IN SBI PO -DI SECTION AND HOW TO PREPARE FOR IT
hidayathullah : DI - Missing DI is the recent model appeared in SBI PO exam. You cannot calculate all the missing values. Based on the info given in the question, you should find out any missing values and then solve the question. Practice these model Missing DI sets before going to exam.

bicky : FOR REPLY
hidayathullah : Replied pls check

nitin : HOW SHOULD WE STRATEGIZE FOR THE SBI PO MAINS OR WHAT SHOULD BE THE STRATEGY FOR ATTEMPTING THE QUESTIONS BECAUSE THE LEVEL OF QUESTIONS ASKED RECENTLY WES OF DIFFICULTY LEVEL. AND NOW WE ARE EXPECTING THE SAME THIS TIME.?
hidayathullah : Yes completely agree with you - Difficulty level has increased. In Main exam, each section is separately timed. In the given time, please try to select easy questions and solve them first rather than worrying about difficult and calculation based questions. Also, the order in which each section to be answered is the key. You may look at following the order given below for each section. Quant -Simplifications / Approx / Missing Series,Questions from TW/TD/PPL/Prob/Mensuration/Ages/Ratio etc,Quadratic Comparisons (attempt only easy ones),Data Sufficiency,DI (Leave CASELET) Reasoning - Deductions, Symbols Notation based conclusions,Analytical Reasoning (OMO,Cod – Dec,Direction sense, Blood Relations etc), Puzzles,Input Output / Decision Making,Data Sufficiency, Critical Reasoning. English - Start with Cloze passage,RC should be attempted next – easy Qs plus the vocab based questions, Grammar,Attempt the questions on FIB after grammar,PFQs

bicky : MOST IMPOTANT TOPIC THAT CONSUME LESS TIME AND SOLVE ESSILY ON QUANT,RESONING AND DI ARE?
hussain : In most difficult exam also you can find good number of questions of Easy and Moderate solve only those, Most important topics in Quant. are Equations Ratio & Proportion, Percentages Profit & Loss, Time & Work, Time & Distance, Simple & Compound Interest, Averages, In DI more practice is required on Tables, Line graph, Bar graph, Pie chart, ( Leave Caselet ),In Reasoning Puzzles, Symbols & Notations, Coding & Decoding, Deductions, Blood Relations, Direction Sense, Input output, Critical Reasoning ( for mains ), Data Sufficiency ( both Quant & Rea. )

gourav : WHICH PUZZLES SHOULD I SOLVE FIRST?
krishnakuppachi : Puzzles – Ranking/Order based questions (floor number wise, etc), Distribution, Linear (Single row), Circular (all facing same direction), Linear (two rows), Circular (different directions), Circular+Blood Relations (at the last)

nishusingh : THANK U SIR....
hidayathullah : Welcome

nishusingh : THANK U SIR....
hidayathullah : Welcome

nm : ANY STRATEGY TO SOLVE INPUT OUTPUT.. EASILY?
krishnakuppachi : For Input-output, you need to first identify the way the output is given. If the question is based on re-arrangement of words/numbers, we can identify the pattern based on the output. However, if the output is worked out based on the operations, there is less scope for a strategy. However, in case of operations based input-output questions, the answer choices help a lot (in elimination)

lucky : SIR GIVE ME SOME TIPS FOR QUESTION REGARDING STATEMENT AND ASSUMPTIONS,STATEMENT AND CONCLUSION,STRONG AND WEEK ARGUMENTS,COURSES OR ACTION,ASSERTIONS AND REASONS.
sashikumar : These topics are not that much important for prelims, you will get these questions in mains

nitin : HOW SHOULD WE START QUESTIONS IN THE MAINS IF ALL THE QUESTIONS ARE OF DIFFICULTY LEVEL BECAUSE IT TAKES TIME AND NOT ABLE TO SOLVE THE ENTIRE QUESTION THEN WE MOVE TO OTHER QUESTION IN A VIEW THAT WE CAN SOLVE IT. DURING THAT ENTIRE PROCESS WE LOSE MOST OF THE TIME.
hidayathullah : Not all questions will be difficult in any examination. Please start with easy question types - order of solving is given in my earlier reply to you. Identify easy questions and solve them.

gourav : SIR, I AM SCORING 25 MARKS IN THE ONLINE TESTS. HOW CAN MY SCORE IMPROVE BEFORE THE SBI PO EXAMS?
krishnakuppachi : Since you are taking the online tests, the way to improve from here is to identify the areas to work on,based on your online test attempts. Split your test analysis into 3 components, (1) questions answered and correct; (2) questions answered but were wrong or dropped in between; (3) questions unattempted (due to shortage of time). For (1), revisit the solutions and approcah to see if you can reduce time further; For (2), check the solutions and figure out why they went wrong; and For (3), think why you left those questions. Were they difficult or maybe you need to start scanning the paper better. This analysis will help you increase your scores with each online test. You have 2 months to go, and with this analysis and constant prep, i'm sure the score will significantly improve. All the best

lucky : I KNOW SIR, 26 FEB KO SYNDICATE PO KA EXAM HAI MAIN KA PLZ TELL ME ABOUT THESE TOPICS
hidayathullah : Similar to IBPS PO exam.

gia : THANK YOU
krishnakuppachi : Best wishes

nitin : WHAT COULD BE THE DIFFICULTY LEVEL FOR THE SBI PO PRELIMS 2017? WOULD THAT BE SAME AS 2016 OR ARE WE EXPECTING ANY CHANGES THIS YEAR ONWARDS?
hidayathullah : If we look at Prelim exam (IBPS & SBI) for the last two years, we do not have any surprises and major changes. New question types are asked in Main examination only.

nm : SIR..HOW TO EASILY SOLVE.. QUADRATIC QUESTIONS.. LIKE.. 6XSQUARE +13X+5=0..AND 9XSQUARE +22Y+8=0..ACTUALLY
hussain : By using factorization method, just observe the prime factors of 6 ( 2x3 ) and 5 (factors are 10 & 3), similarly observe prime factors of 9 (3x3) and 8 (2x2x2), (factors are 18 & 4 )

gourav : THANK YOU SIR :)
krishnakuppachi : Welcome and best wishes

lucky : ODD MAN OUT QUESTIONS ME QUESTIONS ME ALG ALG LOGIC LATE,SAHI LOGIC KAI BAAR NAHI MITA HAI.AESI SITUATION ME KYA KRNA CHAHIYE.
sashikumar : in odd man out type of questions always try to relate four under one category rather taking about only one is different from the remaining

lucky : SIR I ASKED HOW TO SOLVE THEM
krishnakuppachi : Hi lucky, with the exam on 26th, (just few days away), I wou.d strong suggest that you practice topics that you have already completed and not to venture into new topics. You can start preparing them for later exams.
