          (A)   21, 57                       (B)  57, 21                                (C)  37, 51                         (D)  27, 51

Solution:

Let the number of girls and boys be x and y respectively

          3.3x + 2.9y = 249 Þ 33x + 29y = 2490

          As Rem = 25, Rem = Rem= 25

          i.e. 4x = 29x1 + 25 Þ x1 = 4x2 + 3

          Let x2 = 0 \ x1 = 3 Þ x = 28 Þ y = 54

          \ (x, y) = (28, 54); (57, 21); (86, –12); . . . . . . . .                                                                                                                                        Choice (B)
