CLAT 2014 was conducted on 11th May across the country. Many students heaved a sigh of relief with the paper being on expected lines without any major surprises thrown at them. The overall difficulty level was similar to that of last year.

Elementary Mathematics(Numerical Ability)
Level : Easy

The questions were broadly from the following topics : Percentages (1), Profit & Loss (1), Partnership (1), SICI ((1), Averages (1), Time & Work (1), Time & Distance (Relative Speed) (1), Time & Distance (Boats and streams) (1), Ratios (2), Simple Equations (2), Mensuration (2), Probability (1), LCM HCF (1)
Logical Reasoning
Level : Moderate- Easy
Possible Attempts for an average student : 25
No. of recommended attempts : 30-35
The questions were from the following topics:
3 sets were on Seating Arrangements with a total of 10 questions. The no, of questions in each of these sets varied... 2, 3 and 5 were the questions in each of these 3 sets. Here were Blood relations (5 Qs), Puzzles (10 Qs), Syllogisms (10 Qs), Series (3 Qs) and Analogies (2 Qs)
The notable aspect of the test this year was that questions on critical reasoning were absent.
English including Comprehension
Level : Easy- Moderate
Possible Attempts for an average student : 20-25
No. of recommended attempts : 30+
The questions were from the following topics:
Reading Comprehension (10 Qs), Para Forming Questions (5 Qs), Spellings (5 Qs), Idioms & phrase (5 Qs), Foreign Words (5 Qs), Grammar (10 Qs)
Legal Reasoning
Level : Easy
Possible Attempts for an average student : 30-35
No. of recommended attempts : 40+
Legal Reasoning section did not throw any surprises this year. There were no Legal GK questions. However, the principal-Fact based questions were a bit on the lengthier side and the students had to watch out for time while doing these.
General Knowledge/Current Affairs
Level : Moderate
Possible Attempts for an average student : 20-25
No. of recommended attempts : 30+

Current Affairs: 20-25 Qs, Polity : 5 Qs, General Science: 3-5 Qs, Geography : 3-4 Qs, History : 2-3 Qs, Economics: 3-4 Qs
Over All Analysis
With the paper being similar to last year's on difficulty level, the cut-offs are expected to be similar or climb up slightly. The cut-offs for the Top 3 schools is expected to cross 135.
