entrance test was a well set paper. It covered a variety of topics from most of
the areas. The student was required to go for the right selection of questions
maintaing a good speed. All the sections had a mix of easy, moderate and
difficult questions. The number of difficult questions were much lesser than
easy and moderate questions. With a target on mostly Easy and medium questions,
the projected cut-off is: Overall

English Language segment of FMS 2011 comprised two sections viz. English
Comprehension (with 50 questions) and Verbal Ability (with 50 questions). English
Comprehension - There were 4
passages, all very long (between 1000 and 1500 words). One
passage was on Social Psychology (a discussion of Rawls' concept of Fairness in
Justice). This had 15 questions which were Difficult, only because the passage
was very long, difficult to read, and especially since the ideas contained
would have been unfamiliar to most and therefore difficult to grasp. If the
ideas were grasped, however, the questions were quite straight-forward. There
was one Central Idea question. All the others were questions of detail. One
passage was on the history of Delhi. This had 11 questions, out of which 9 were
Easy questions and 2 wereModerately difficult. The passage was long but easy to
read, and the questions were simple questions of detail - easy to answer. One
passage was on the increasing use and impact of Google Search. This had 10
questions, out of which 8 were Easy and 2 questions were moderately difficult.
This passage, too, was long, but it was easy to read, and had 9 simple
questions of detail, and 1 inference question. One
passage was on Management (a discussion of Pioneering-Innovative Management.
This had 14 questions which were Moderately Difficulty. The passage was long,
but not difficult to read. Though the ideas may have been unfamiliar to some,
they were not difficult to grasp. All the questions were of detail. A well
prepared student would have been able to attempt 20-25 RC questions. Hence,
with a good accuracy, a well prepared student can look at scoring 70-80 marks
in English Comprehension section. Verbal
Ability - There were, broadly,
questions of 5 types - There
were 7 Para Formation Questions. 5 were of Moderate Difficulty, while 1 was
Easy and 1 was Difficult. There
were 6 questions that asked for the meaning of Idioms. 4 were of Moderate
Difficulty, while 1 was Easy and 1 was Difficult. There
were 15 Fill in the Blank (one or two blanks) questions, testing familiarity
with words and their use. 8 were Easy, 5 were Moderately Difficult, and 2 were
Difficult. There
were 10 Error Correction questions (Grammar-based). 4 of them were Easy while 6
were Moderately Difficult. There
were 12 Error Identification questions (Grammar-based). 5 of them were Easy, 5
were Moderately Difficult, and 2 were Difficult. A well
prepared student would have been able to attempt 27 to 30 VA questions. Hence,
with a good accuracy, a well prepared student can look at scoring 80-90 marks
in Verbal Abilty section.
The Quantitative
Ability section covered a variety of topics. There were questions from
18 topics.
The level of difficulty in the Quant Section was as follows:
A few
questions were difficult, while some questions were tricky. The questions and
the answer choices required careful observation on part of the students as
there were
posssibilities of careless mistakes in few
questions which appear to be easy. Overall,
a well prepared students could have attempted 25-30 QA questions. Hence, with a
good accuracy, a well prepared student can look at scoring 90-100 marks in
Quantitative Abilty section.

Though
some of the puzzles and the DI set is lengthy, the number of questions from
each of these sets makes it worth spending the time for students.
