About NIMCET:

NIMCET is a national level common entrance test conducted by NITs for admission to their MCA programme. The admission to the MCA course offered by NIT Agartala, Allahabad, Bhopal, Calicut, Durgapur, Jamshedpur, Kurukshetra, Raipur, Surathkal, Tiruchirapalli and Warangal for the year 2014 - 15 will be based only on the rank obtained in NIMCET2014. The exam will be held on 25th May2014. NIMCET 2014 will be conducted by NIT Agartala.

About NIMCET 2014:

Eligibility for NIMCET:

Indian Nationals securing at least 60% marks in aggregate or 6.5 CGPA on a 10 point scale (55% marks or 6.0 CGPA on a 10 point scale in case of SC, ST) in B.Sc / B.Sc (Hons) / BCA / BIT ( Min 3 years full time) OR BE / B.Tech 

List of NITs participating in NIMCET2014:

The eleven NITs participating in NiMCET2014 are NIT Agartala, Allahabad, Bhopal, Calicut, Durgapur, Jamshedpur, Kurukshetra, Raipur, Surathkal, Tiruchirapalli and Warangal .

The exam was conducted at 21 centres - Agartala,Raipur, Allahabad, Rourkela, Bhopal, Silchar, Calicut, Srinagar, Durgapur, Surat, Hamirpur, Surathkal, Jaipur, Tiruchirappalli, Jalandhar, Warangal, Jamshedpur, Delhi, Kurukshetra, Kolkata, Patna

Test Pattern :

NIMCET-2014 test will be conducted with only one question paper containing 120 multiple choice questions covering the following subjects

1. Mathematics - 50 questions
2. Analytical Ability & Logical Reasoning - 40 questions
3. Computer Awareness - 10 questions
4. General English - 20 questions

A candidate scoring zero or negative marks either in Mathematics or Total marks will be disqualified. Each correct answer carries FOUR marks and wrong answer NEGATIVE ONE mark. Marks obtained in Maths, Reasoning, Computers and English will be multiplied by a factor of 3, 1.5, 2 and 1 respectively. And hence maximum weighted marks will be 1000.

As a result of this, the weightage of various test areas is :

Mathematics - 50 Qs x 4 Marks x 3 = Max 600 Marks
Reasoning - Max 240 Marks
Computers - Max 80 Marks
English - Max 80 Marks

Total weightage is 60%(Maths), 24% (Reas) and 8% each for Computers and English

Ranking will be made based on the total weighted marks obtained by the candidate. In case of a tie, it will be resolved based on weighted marks in Mathematics, then on weighted marks in Logical reasoning and then on weighted marks in Computer Awareness.

The detailed syllabus is as given below :

MATHEMATICS: (50questions) - Set Theory, Probability and Statistics, Algebra, Coordinate Geometry, Calculus, Vectors, Trigonometry.

ANALYTICAL ABILITY AND LOGICAL REASONING: (40 questions)
The questions in this section will cover logical situation and questions based on the facts given in the passage.

COMPUTER AWARENESS:(10 questions)
Computer Basics: Organization of a computer, Central Processing Unit (CPU), structure of instructions in CPU, input/output devices, computer memory, and back-up devices. Data Representation: Representation of characters, integers and fractions, binary and hexadecimal representations, binary arithmetic: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, simple arithmetic and two’s complement arithmetic, floating point representation of numbers, Boolean algebra, truth tables, Venn diagrams.

GENERAL ENGLISH: (20 questions)
Comprehension, vocabulary, Basic English Grammar (like usage of correct forms of verbs,prepositions and articles), word power, synonyms and antonyms, meaning of words and phrases, technical writing.

How to apply for NIMCET:

Mode of Application and processing fee : Candidates should apply for NIMCET-2014 through 'Online' only on the website http://nimcet2014.nita.ac.in. Candidates should pay the processing fee (Rs.1,800/- for OPEN/OBC and Rs.900/- for SC/ST) in the form of Demand Draft

The generated application form along with all relevant documents and DD should reach - "The Secretary, NIMCET-2014, National Institute of Technology, Agartala. PO : Former Tripura Engg College, Barjala, Jirania, TRIPURA(W) - 799046" by Speed Post/Registered Post on or before 17th April, 2014.

Important Dates :

  1. Date and time of examination : 25-05-2014 (Sunday), 10 am to 12 Noon.

  2. Opening date for Online registration : 17-02-2014

  3. Closing date of Online registration : 03-04-2014 (5 pm)

  4. Last date of online submission of form : 03-04-2014 (11.59 pm)

  5. Last date for receipt of printout of electronically filled application form along with requisite DD by speed post/Registered post : 17-04-2014

  6. Admit card download : 09-05-2014 to 25-05-2014

  7. Publication of result (Tentative) : 11-06-2014.

Admission Procedure:

NIMCET 2014 application form is common for appearing for Entrance Test, counseling and admission to MCA at all the eleven participating NITs offering MCA programme. Candidates are not required to apply separately to any NIT for admission to MCA programme.

The admission to MCA programme in all the 11 participating NITs will be based on NIMCET-2014 rank and the choice of institute filled by the candidates.

Candidates declared qualified in NIMCET-2014 will be allowed to fill the choices of Institutes in which they wish to take admission into MCA programme.
