NIMCET is a national level common entrance test conducted by NITs for admission to their MCA programme. The admission to the MCA course offered by NIT Agartala, Allahabad, Bhopal, Calicut, Durgapur, Jamshedpur, Kurukshetra, Raipur, Surathkal, Tiruchirapalli and Warangal for the year 2015 - 16 will be based only on the rank obtained in NIMCET2015. The exam will be held on 31st May 2015. NIMCET 2015 will be conducted by NIT Agartala.

About NIMCET 2015:

Eligibility for NIMCET:

Indian Nationals securing at least 60% marks in aggregate or 6.5 CGPA on a 10 point scale (55% marks or 6.0 CGPA on a 10 point scale in case of SC, ST) in B.Sc / B.Sc (Hons) / BCA / BIT ( Min 3 years full time) OR BE / B.Tech

The eleven NITs participating in NiMCET2015 are NIT Agartala, Allahabad, Bhopal, Calicut, Durgapur, Jamshedpur, Kurukshetra, Raipur, Surathkal, Tiruchirapalli and Warangal .

The exam was conducted at 21 centres - Agartala,Raipur, Allahabad, Rourkela, Bhopal, Silchar, Calicut, Srinagar, Durgapur, Surat, Hamirpur, Surathkal, Jaipur, Tiruchirappalli, Jalandhar, Warangal, Jamshedpur, Delhi, Kurukshetra, Kolkata, Patna

Test Pattern :

NIMCET-2015 test will be conducted with only one question paper containing 120 multiple choice questions covering the following subjects

1. Mathematics - 50 questions
2. Analytical Ability & Logical Reasoning - 40 questions
3. Computer Awareness - 10 questions
4. General English - 20 questions

A candidate scoring zero or negative marks either in Mathematics or Total marks will be disqualified. Each correct answer carries FOUR marks and wrong answer NEGATIVE ONE mark. Marks obtained in Maths, Reasoning, Computers and English will be multiplied by a factor of 3, 1.5, 2 and 1 respectively. And hence maximum weighted marks will be 1000.

As a result of this, the weightage of various test areas is :

Mathematics - 50 Qs x 4 Marks x 3 = Max 600 Marks
Reasoning - Max 240 Marks
Computers - Max 80 Marks
English - Max 80 Marks

Total weightage is 60%(Maths), 24% (Reas) and 8% each for Computers and English

Ranking will be made based on the total weighted marks obtained by the candidate. In case of a tie, it will be resolved based on weighted marks in Mathematics, then on weighted marks in Logical reasoning and then on weighted marks in Computer Awareness.

The detailed syllabus is as given below :

MATHEMATICS: (50questions) - Set Theory, Probability and Statistics, Algebra, Coordinate Geometry, Calculus, Vectors, Trigonometry.

The questions in this section will cover logical situation and questions based on the facts given in the passage.

Computer Basics: Organization of a computer, Central Processing Unit (CPU), structure of instructions in CPU, input/output devices, computer memory, and back-up devices. Data Representation: Representation of characters, integers and fractions, binary and hexadecimal representations, binary arithmetic: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, simple arithmetic and two’s complement arithmetic, floating point representation of numbers, Boolean algebra, truth tables, Venn diagrams.

GENERAL ENGLISH: (20 questions)
Comprehension, vocabulary, Basic English Grammar (like usage of correct forms of verbs,prepositions and articles), word power, synonyms and antonyms, meaning of words and phrases, technical writing.

How to Apply:

All the eligible candidates should register in the NIMCET 2015 website by creating a username and password by themselves between 16-02-2015 and 06-04-2015 (5.00 pm) IST. One time password (OTP) will be send to applicants mobile number at the time of registration process which need to be entered in the OTP page. Now the online application form can be completed .The print out of the generated application form along with all relevant documents should reach the Secretary, NIMCET-2015 latest on 20-04-2015.

Open/OBC category: Rs.1800
SC/ST Category - Rs.900

The processing fee has to be paid through NIMCET 2015 website only using any one of the following options - Credit Card, Debit Card, Debit Card + ATM PIN, Internet Banking.

Admission Procedure:

NIMCET 2015 application form is common for appearing for Entrance Test, counseling and admission to MCA at all the eleven participating NITs.Candidates are not required to apply separately to any NIT for admission to MCA programme.

Candidates satisfying eligibility and qualifying criteria will be awarded with NIMCET-2015 rank.

The candidates who obtained rank in NIMCET-2015 are eligible for admission into MCA programme at the participating NITs.

These candidates need to download the rank cards from the NIMCET 2015 website. Then they can login and fill the choices of participating institutes in their order of preference between 11-06-2015 and 15-06-2015. These choices can be modified/reordered any number of times before locking.

Candidates who are allotted a seat must report to any one of the participating institutes on the dates specified in each of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd rounds. Reporting at any institute other than the allotted institute is called Remote Reporting. Remote reporting is permitted in first and second rounds of allotment only.

After the third round of allotment, candidates are required to physically present at the latest allotted institute for admission and attend the classes.

After third round of reporting, vacant seats in all participating NITs will be published in the NIMCET 2015 website. Candidates who were not allotted any seat from first to third round of allotment and those who have surrendered their seats are only eligible to fill fresh choices. Final round of allotment will be done and candidates, who are offered seats in this round, must report to the allotted institute to attend the classes.
