About NIMCET:
NIMCET is NIT MCA Common Entrance Test, a National Level Test conducted by NITs for admission in to their MCA programme. The admission to the MCA programme in to NITs at Agartala, Allahabad, Bhopal, Calicut, Durgapur, Jamshedpur, Kurukshetra, Raipur, Surathkal, Tiruchirappalli and Warangal for the year 2016-17 is based on the Rank obtained in NIMCET-2016 only. NIT Durgapur is the organizing institute for NIMCET 2016.
Eligibility Criteria to Appear For NIMCET-2016:
Indian Nationals securing at least 60% marks in aggregate or 6.5 CGPA on a 10 point scale# (55% marks or 6.0 CGPA on a 10 point scale in case of SC, ST) in (i) BSc / BSc (Hons) / BCA / BIT of minimum three years full-time*; OR (ii) B E / B Tech or equivalent from a recognized University are eligible to appear for NIMCET- 2016 test.

Test Pattern NIMCET-2016
Single question paper with 120 multiple choice questions
Medium of exam - English Language only
Test Paper:
Mathematics - 50 questions
Analytical Ability & Logical Reasoning - 40 questions
Computer Awareness - 10 questions
General English - 20 questions
Correct answer will fetch four marks and each wrong answer will lead to negative one mark.
Qualifying Criteria for Allotment of Rank
A Candidate securing zero or negative marks either in Mathematics or Total Marks in NIMCET-2016 test will be disqualified.
Based on the marks obtained by a qualified candidate in NIMCET-2016 test, a rank will be allotted by adopting the following criteria.
1.The marks obtained in Mathematics, Analytical Ability & Logical Reasoning, Computer Awareness, English, will be multiplied by a factor of 3, 1˝ , 2 and 1 respectively. Thus maximum weighted marks will be 1000.
As a result of this, the weightage of various test areas is :
Mathematics - 50 Qs x 4 Marks x 3 = Max 600 Marks
Reasoning - Max 240 Marks
Computers - Max 80 Marks
English - Max 80 Marks
Total weightage is 60%(Maths), 24% (Reas) and 8% each for Computers and English.
2. Ranking will be based on total weighted marks obtained by a candidate. In case of a tie, it will be resolved based on weighted marks in the order of Mathematics, Logical reasoning and Computer Awareness.
3. In case the tie still does not get resolved, then it will be resolved by age i.e., in favour of older candidate.

Admission Procedure:
NIMCET 2016 application form is common for appearing for Entrance Test, counseling and admission to MCA programme in the eleven participating NITs offering MCA programme. Candidates are not required to apply separately to any NIT for admission to MCA programme.

Syllabus:
Mathematics: (50questions) - Set Theory, Probability and Statistics, Algebra, Coordinate Geometry, Calculus, Vectors, Trigonometry.
Analytical ability and logical reasoning: (40 questions)
The questions in this section will cover logical situation and questions based on the facts given in the passage.
Computer Awareness:(10 questions)
Computer Basics: Organization of a computer, Central Processing Unit (CPU), structure of instructions in CPU, input/output devices, computer memory, and back-up devices. Data Representation: Representation of characters, integers and fractions, binary and hexadecimal representations, binary arithmetic: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, simple arithmetic and two’s complement arithmetic, floating point representation of numbers, Boolean algebra, truth tables, Venn diagrams.
General English: (20 questions)
Comprehension, vocabulary, Basic English Grammar (like usage of correct forms of verbs, prepositions and articles), word power, synonyms and antonyms, meaning of words and phrases, technical writing.
