The Karnataka Common Entrance Test 2016 is being conducted for the purpose of determining the eligibility / merit, for admission of Karnataka candidates to courses in Medical, Dental, Ayurveda, Homoeopathy, Unani, Naturopathy & Yoga, Engineering, B.Sc Agriculture, Sericulture, Forestry,Horiculture,B Pharma and D Pharma courses for the academic year 2016-17.

Candidates claiming eligibility for Government seats under Horanadu & Gadinadu Kannadiga clauses and whose mother tongue is Kannada, Tulu or Kodava, will have to undergo a Kannada language test, to establish their ability to speak, read and write Kannada. However, the candidates who have studied ten full academic years in Kannada Medium from 1st standard to 10th standard in places outside the state of Karnataka need not appear for this test.
06-05-2016- 11.30 am to 12.30 pm - both for Horanadu and Gadinadu Kannadiga candidates. Candidates need to score a minimum passing marks of 12 out of 50 marks in this examination in order to be considered for assignment of ranks and to become eligible for allotment of seats in CET-2016.
Academic Eligibility:
Passed in 2nd PUC/12th/equivalent examination with English as one of the languages and obtained a minimum of 45% of marks in Physics and Mathematics along with Chemistry / Biotechnology/ Biology/ Electronics/ Computer Science. (40% for SC,ST and specific categories)
Criteria for determination of Merit/Rank: By taking marks in equal proportions in qualifying examination and CET in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. However no minimum qualifying marks is prescribed in CET.
About Karnataka CET 2015 :
Each subject paper will be for 60 marks and for duration of 80 min. There will be 16 versions of the paper.
Objective, multiple choice questions with 4 answer options.
Each correct answer will be awarded 1mark. No negative marking.
The question papers of the CET will be mostly based on the First and Second PUC syllabi prescribed by the Department of Pre-University Education of Karnataka State.
