JEE MAIN 2017 - Pattern, Analysis, Key, Solutions & Score Calculator
JEE Main 2017 was conducted on 2nd April 2017 in offline mode in centres within India and abroad. Around 10.2 lakh students would have appeared for this important national exam. The exam was conducted from 9.30 to 12.30 hrs.
There were 4 versions for JEE MAIN 2017 – A, B, C and D. The order of subjects in each version was different; likewise the options for each question were shuffled too in different versions; the total marks and the number of questions in ALL versions were the same.

The overall difficulty level of the Physics part is on the moderate side. Questions involving multiple concepts were relatively less in numbers compared to the year 2016. Also mathematical application at a higher level is not required to solve any of the questions in this year’s paper. One question (Q.No. 13 in version A – ‘An observer moving with half the speed….) is based on relativistic Doppler effect in light; this seems to be outside the scope of JEE syllabus. There were NO representation from areas like Alternating currents, hydrostatics, hydrodynamics etc.
Percentage of difficult questions has gone down compared to JEE Main 2016, and there is increase in medium level questions.

Majority of the questions in the Chemistry part of the JEE Main 2017 are in the range of easy to moderate and could be answered by thoroughly knowing the concepts in the syllabus. All numerical questions in Physical Chemistry are direct questions. There are no application based questions unlike previous years. Questions from Inorganic Chemistry were purely text based.
More over, this year’s contribution from Physical Chemistry is more compared to previous years.
As given below about 47% of the paper was considered ‘Easy’ and only about 7% of the paper was ‘difficult’ and hence this was a student friendly paper.

Mathematics part of JEE Main 2017 was challenging as far as a student is concerned. Even a well prepared student might not identify all ‘easy’ questions and if he/ she avoid the traps set in between they will be able to live through. The paper has only about 27% of marks from ‘easy’ category questions and almost half the paper is set in the medium difficulty level. Few questions that posed difficulties are genuinely concept wise difficult and tricky in nature.
In general even the conceptually easy questions required lengthy solutions to reach the answer. One question from Coordinate Geometry posed slight ambiguity and confusion among students.
There was only one question from Mathematical Reasoning and no questions from Statistics.
Algebra, Coordinate Geometry, Differential and Integral Calculus (as expected) had major shares. Topic wise analysis is given below.
