- ABC was a cooperative bank operating mostly in rural sector. In the last couple of years, the bank ended up with huge amount of bad debt mostly from farmers. There was a lot of pressure from superiors on the local branch manager in village of Bijpur. Even after repeated legal notices the farmers were not paying the money due to bad monsoon that year. The branch manager decided to take a different course of action to recover the money and employed people to put posters in the village with photographs of defaulters at public places. A few days later, Bhanu, a local farmer whose name and photo figured on the posters, committed suicide.
