All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) was established by an Act of parliament of 1956 as an autonomous institution of national importance and its objectives and functions were defined.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana six new All India Institutes of Medical Sciences have been established similar to AIIMS, New Delhi - Bhopal, Patna, Jodhpur, Rishikesh, Raipur and Bhubaneswar.

Academic Eligibility:
The minimum aggregate of the marks in ENGLISH, PHYSICS, CHEMISTRY and BIOLOGY obtained in the qualifying examination required for appearing in this examination are : General and OBC candidates: 60% SC/ST/OPH Candidates 50%
Paper Pattern:
Online computer based test in two shifts - 9 am-12.30 pm and 3 pm-6.30 pm
Duration: 3.5 hours

Scheme and marking
Each incorrect response will get a score of -1/3 (minus-one-third).
Each correct response will get a score of 1 mark and
No credit will be given for the questions not answered.
More than one response will be treated as wrong answer and negatively marked.
The score so obtained would be the raw score that would be used to calculate percentage score and percentile for ranking purpose.
Since the examination is being conducted in 2 shifts, normalisation procedure would be used; the percentile score corresponding to the cut offs would be used to determine eligibility. In case the percentile scores are dissimilar across both the slots,lower of the two would be used to determine the eligibility of candidates from that particular category.
Normalisation procedure based on the analysis of the previous AIIIMS MBBS entrance examinations would be arrived at by the team of experts. It is based on percentile scores.
Percentile scores are being calculated till 7 decimal places to prevent bunching effect and there by reduce ties.
STANDARD OF EXAMINATION
The general standard of the Competitive Entrance Examination will be that of 12th class under
the 10+2 Scheme/Intermediate Science.
LANGUAGE OF QUESTION PAPER
Question paper will be provided either in English or in Hindi according to the choice of candidates
MINIMUM CUT OFF MARK IN THE MBBS ENTRANCE EXAMINATION
General category/OPH General - 50% minimum marks in the entrance examination to qualify.
OBC category/OPH OBC - minimum 45% marks
SC/ST Categories/OPH SC ST - 40% minimum marks
MERIT LIST
Based on the result of the Competitive Entrance Examination, merit lists will be prepared as below:
(a) Common Merit list
(b) Scheduled Caste candidates list
(c) Scheduled Tribe candidates list
(d) Other Backward Classes candidates list
The Counseling for allocation of all seven AIIMS for admission to MBBS course will be held at AIIMS, New Delhi.
In each category i.e. UR, OBC, SC & ST, the total no. of candidate to be called for counseling will be 4 times the no. of seats available in each category.
In case of a tie:
Rank would be decided in order of preference - candidates obtaining higher percentile scores in the entrance examination in
(a) Biology
(b) Chemistry
(c) Physics
In case tie still persists,
(d) Candidates older in age to be preferred.
