Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) is a public university, funded by the central government of India. It was established by Syed Ahmad Khan as Madrasatul Uloom Musalmanan-e-Hind in 1875-78, which later became Mohammedan Anglo-Oriental College (MAO College). The Mohammedan Anglo-Oriental College became Aligarh Muslim University in 1920.
The main campus of AMU is located in the city of Aligarh. In 2012, two fully functioning off-campus centres were started in the cities of Malappuram(Kerala) and Murshidabad (West Bengal) and in 2013, and another was started in Kishanganj(Bihar).

Admission to MBBS/BDS courses is through an Admission Test.

Eligibility:
Age - must be not less than 17 years as on 31 December in the year of admission
Candidates seeking admission to the MBBS and BDS courses should have passed the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination of this University or (HSC)/10+2 or equivalent examination recognized by the Aligarh Muslim University and must have secured minimum of 50% marks in aggregate in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English
Candidates should secure at least 50% mark in the entrance to become eligible for counseling process.
Candidates applying for MBBS can apply for BDS in the same application form without any additional fees. They should indicate their choices in the application form in the order of preference.
