The Karnataka Common Entrance Test - 2012 is being conducted to determine the
eligibility for the admissions of Karnataka candidates and wards of Jammu and
Kashmiri migrants to the first year/semester full time courses in
Medical,Dental,Ayurveda,Homeopathy,Unani,Naturopathy and
Yoga,Engineeing,Technology courses and NATA in Government/University/Private
aided/Private unaided professional educational institutes in Karnataka.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
For admission to Engineering / Technology courses, a candidate has to obtain an
aggregate minimum of 45% marks in the optional subjects in the Qualifying
Examination. 40% of marks in Q.E. in case of SC, ST, and other Backward Classes
(Category-I, 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B)
Eligibility criteria for admission to Engineering / Technology courses will be
Chemistry / Bio-Technology /Biology along with Physics and Mathematics, as per
AICTE. Electronics and Computer Science studied in the qualifying examination
will not be considered along with Physics and Mathematics for eligibility for
admission to Engineering courses from the year,2011.
For Medical / Dental courses, a candidate should have passed 2nd year
pre-university/12th standard examination or equivalent examination
with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects and with English as one
of the languages of study and have obtained a minimum of 50% of marks in
aggregate in the PCB group and should secure a minimum of 50% of marks in
aggregate in PCB subjects in the Common Entrance Test. 40% marks in Q.E and CET
in case of SC/ST/Category-1 and OBC candidates.
SYLLABUS:
The question paper will be based on the 1st and 2nd PUC
syllabi as prescribed by the Dept.of Pre University Education, Karnataka.

DETERMINATION OF MERIT:
For Engg/technology courses,the marks obtained by a candidate in
Physics,Chemistry and Mathematics in CET as well as in QE,taken in equal
proportions.
For Medical/dental courses,the marks scored by a candidate in Physics,Chemistry
and Biology papers of CET only.
Online Seat Selection:
From the year,2012-2013, allotment of seats will be online by obtaining options from the eligible candidates in the order of merit/rank in CET-2012 and based on the options given by them

The KEA will receive the seat matrix from the Government before the commencement
of Admission round seat selection process.
