(Chat Transcript)

suha : HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR VERBAL SECTION
philipthomas : Start with the basics( grammar and vocab ), and then move on to working upon RC and VR.

rakhiks : HELLO SIR/MAM I HAVE BEEN PRACTICING VARC FOR MORE THAN 2 MONTHS NOW AND I HAVE SOLVED LIKE AROUND 200 RCS AND PRESENTLY GIVING SECTIONALS BUT I M ABLE TO SOLVE ONLY 3 RCS IN 30 MINS AND I CAN SOLVE ALL EASY AND EASY-MED LEVEL QUES AND SOME OF MED QUES IN THE SECTIONAL PLS ADVISE ME WHAT TO DO
philipthomas : Please understand that you are in a good position if you can cover 3 RCs in 30 minutes. You still have another 3 months to go. If you are able to crack easy and medium difficulty level questions that is good enough provided you push forward and work towards 4 RCs in 30 minutes. Do not forget to leave out the tough questions. Attempting 12 /16 is very good.

hscab5a027 : HOW CAN I IMPROVE MY TIMING FOR ATTEMPTING QUESTIONS
abhishek : Take more tests. This when done consciously, can help improve time management.

krishna : IAM NOT ABLE TO IMPROVE MY ACCURACY SCORE.
abhishek : See if you are over attempting. Between attempts and accuracy, choose accuracy in the beginning. You can take care of attempts at a later stages too.

shikhar : HOW TO IMPROVE MOCK SCORE
asim : To effectively analyze AIMCATs, dedicate 2-3 hours per section, reviewing attempted, unattempted, and incorrect questions. Compare your solutions with the provided solutions, categorize questions by difficulty, and identify patterns of errors. This detailed analysis will improve time management, accuracy, and question selection strategy. Here's a more detailed breakdown: 1. Time Allocation: Allocate a substantial amount of time (2-3 hours) to thoroughly analyze each section (VARC, DILR, QA). Don't rush the analysis; take your time to understand your mistakes and identify areas for improvement. 2. Reviewing Attempts: Attempted Questions: Analyze both correct and incorrect answers to understand your thought process and identify weaknesses. Unattempted Questions: Re-attempt these questions to see if you can solve them with a clearer mind and more time. Incorrect Answers: Focus on understanding why your answer was wrong and how the correct answer was derived. 3. Utilizing Resources: Answer Key: Compare your answers with the answer key provided by Time4education. Video Solutions: Watch video solutions provided by Time4education to understand the logic and approach to solving the questions. Student Homepage: Utilize the extensive analysis tools available on the Time4education Student Homepage. 4. Identifying Patterns and Refining Strategy: Categorize Questions: Classify questions by difficulty level (easy, medium, hard) to understand your strengths and weaknesses. Error Analysis: Note patterns in your mistakes (e.g., calculation errors, conceptual errors, time management issues). Develop a Strategy: Based on your analysis, refine your question selection strategy, time allocation for different sections, and overall approach to the exam. 5. Additional Tips: Read Widely: For VARC, focus on reading articles on various topics to improve comprehension and vocabulary. Practice Regularly: Take AIMCATs regularly and analyze them thoroughly. Seek Clarification: If you have doubts, refer to the solutions, consult with mentors or attend doubt-clearing sessions. Optimize Attempts: Adjust your number of attempts based on the difficulty of the paper and your comfort level with different question types. Focus on Accuracy: Pay attention to accuracy, especially in areas where you tend to make mistakes. Time Management: Practice time management techniques to ensure you can attempt all the questions you are comfortable with within the given time limit.

yashvi : HOW TO PREPARE THE EXAM STRATEGY FOR DILR? IN THE LATEST AIMCAT I COULD SOLVE ONLY 2 SETS WITHIN THE TIME LIMIT. ALSO, HOW TO KNOW IN THE EXAM PRESSURE WHETHER A SET IS DOABLE OR WHAT WOULD BE THE RIGHT APPROACH TO ATTEMPT IT WITHOUT WASTING TOO MUCH TIME?
siddhartharora : Form now on, solve around 4 to 5 DI LR sets everyday, you can do so by taking sectional test or from study material, but take a mix of 4 to 5 sets daily. Go through solutions if you are not able to solve and try to solve the set again few days later. With this practice, you will start developing patterns and will also achieve better accuracy and speed

pj : HI
siddhartharora : hi

rakhiks : FOR LRDI I HAVE SOLVED ALL THE HANDOUT QUES CONCETUALLY AND ALL THE CONCEPTS COVERED IN THE LECTURES AND HAVE SOLVE THE A EXERCISE OF THE BASIC STUDY MATERIAL PLEASE ADVISE ME HOW SHOULD I PROCEED AND WHAT SHOULD BE MY PLAN
siddhartharora : From now on please give one sectional test or mock every alternate day for LR DI, in case you are not giving any tests, still solve 4 to 5 sets randomly from study material, this will help you to develop both speed and accuracy

vedant : SO HOW TO IMPROVE THE VARC SCORE AND GET A BETTER COMMAND OVER THE SECTION TO IMPROVE ACCURACY ?
rahulpinnamaneni : Diagnose Your Current VARC Weakness RC: Low accuracy usually means wrong inference skills or misreading tone → fix with deliberate practice on reasoning-based questions. VA (Parajumbles, Odd One Out, Para Summary): Often low accuracy comes from lack of structural reading. Daily RC Drill (45–60 min) Read 1 RC set from a mock or source like The Hindu, Aeon, The Economist. After reading, summarize each paragraph in one line — forces you to follow the flow. Attempt questions. Review each wrong answer → ask “Which line in the passage proves the right answer?” Note why the wrong option is wrong — over time, you'll spot traps faster.

krishna : WHERE WILL THEY ANSWER?
siddhartharora : What is your query

kinjal : I FREQUENTLY GET STUCK IN QUANT QUESTIONS DURING AIMCAT WHICH RESULTS IN TIME SHORTAGE FOR OTHER QUESTIONS ?
siddhartharora : Prepare a formula book of each topic and revise it every 2 to 3 days. Also, note down good questions and solve them every week for practice. Try to give a sectional test or a mock every alternate day as that will help to increase the speed now.

saloni : HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR VARC
rahulpinnamaneni : Are you a classroom student? We usually discuss this in great detail there.

pj : HOW TO JUDGE ODD ONE OUT SENTENCES ?
rahulpinnamaneni : For Odd One Out (OOO) in VARC, the goal is to find the sentence that does not fit the logical flow or topic of the rest. Think of it like four friends talking about one topic, and one random guy barges in talking about something else.

pj : HOW TO JUDGE ODD ONE OUT SENTENCES ?
philipthomas : Identify the Content, Context and Tone of the original text and select that which deviates

maverick : I REGULARLY WORK WITH DILR SMS YET I COULD BARELY PICK ANY SETS IN THE LAST AIMCAT. HOW CAN I IMPROVE MY SECTIONAL SCORE ?
asim : I recommend you revise your basics and follow up with online sectional tests intermediate level then advanced level this will help you bridge the gap in expertise

rakhiks : THOMAS SIR LIKE IF I ATTEMPT TO SOLVE LIKE 4 RCS AND SPEED THROUGH THE READING AND QUES THEN MY ACCURACY DROPS SIGNIFICANTLY LIKE HOW SHOULD I TRY TO SOLVE ALL 4 RCS WHAT SHOULD BE MY PLAN AND WHICH AREAS SHOULD I WORK ON?
philipthomas : When you are doing 4 RCs, tell yourself that you can drop one question per passage so, your target should be just 3 out of 4 questions per passage , this approach enables you to stick to the time limits

cara : I AM CONSISTENTLY GETTING 17/18 QUESTIONS IN VARC RIGHT AND 99+ PERCENTILE BUT IN QUANTS AND DILR SOMETIMES I GET 99 OR EVEN 98.5 OR SOMETIMES IT GOES TO 70 TO 80. PLEASE GIVE ADVICE ON HOW I SHOULD PROCEED GIVEN MY CURRENT SCORES, I AM CONFUSED SINCEI AM FOLLOWING YOUR CHAT AND FACULTY ADVICE TOO. MY DREAM COLLEGE IS IIM AHMEDABAD
abhishek : You are doing well. Inorder to have consistent scores in QA and DILR too, I would suggest you analyse the performance after you take the test. In quant, it is relatively easier to have stable scores as compared to DILR. Check for weaknesses you might be facing during the test taking.

yashvi : I AM HAVING DIFFICULTY WITH PARA JUMBLES. SOMETIMES I AM ABLE TO CRACK THEM BUT OTHER TIMES I AM VERY OFF. I HAVE COMPLETED THE STUDY MATERIAL EXERCISE FOR IT AS WELL BUT STILL FACE DIFFICULTY.
asim : I recommend you rewatch the basics class and then attend a doubt clarification session and discuss with a faculty member

ria : I AM UNABLE TO SOLVE LRDI AND QUANT QUESTIONS DURING MOCKS IN A GIVEN TIME LIMIT. ONLY VARC IS GOING SOMEWHAT DECENT. HOW SHOULD I GO AHEAD IN MY PREPARATION ?
siddhartharora : LR DI Try to do one sectional test or a mock or random 4 to 5 sets everyday, now it is time for more practice, even if you take more time. The more practice you do the better pattern you will understand and reduce time for solving questions. Keep a note a good questions and revise them every week

: HELLO, WHAT WAS THE LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY OF ALL THE 3 SECTIONS IN AIMCAT2613 AS COMPARED TO CAT?
rahulpinnamaneni : These questions can be easily answered by referring to the sectional cutoffs in each AIMCAT.

saiyam : SIR, I AM NOT ABLE TO UNDERSTAND THE LANGUAGE OF QUESTION NO.19-22 IN DILR SECTION PLUS HOW TO MANAGE TIME IN SPECIFIC DILR SECTION CAUSE DILR SECTION CONSUMES TOO MUCH TIME TO SOLVING EACH N SINGLE QUESTIONS.
rahulpinnamaneni : This is a classic exam-time pacing problem — you have the ability to solve more questions, but you’re not even seeing them because of time allocation mistakes during the test. You're not alone. Almost every aspirant goes through this at some point. Understand Why You’re Not Reaching the End Usually it’s because of: Spending too long on early questions. Getting emotionally stuck (“I have to solve this one” trap). Not having a pre-decided time budget per question/set. Use the “First Pass – Second Pass” Approach You need to see all questions in the section in the first half of the time — even if you don’t solve them right away. How to Do It: First Pass (≈ 60–70% of section time) Scan quickly, solve only the ones you can do in 90–120 seconds. Skip anything that feels too long, too calculation-heavy, or unclear in setup. Second Pass (remaining time) Come back to medium/hard ones that you had marked for review.

vedant : HOW TO IMPROVE THE SPEED OF ATTEMPTING QUESTIONS?
asim : You need to work on your question selection, practice speed maths techniques and try to do more steps in mind and less on paper.

sahithi : MY ACCURACY IS LOW IN VARC WHAT SHOULD I DO BUT I AM ABLE TO DO 15-17 QUESTIONS IN THE TIME LIMIT. AND NO MATTER HOW HARD I TRY I ALWAYS MARK WRONG ANSWERS IN PARA JUMBLE, ODD ONE OUT. HOW SHOULD I OVERCOME?
rahulpinnamaneni : Parajumbles: Look for: Pronoun links (he, she, they) Chronology words (first, later, finally) Cause-effect connectors (because, therefore) Odd One Out: Identify the “theme” first; eliminate sentence that breaks it. Para Summary: Match the tone + scope, avoid options with extra details.

pj : IF I COULD SO EASILY IDENTIFY TONE OF ORIGINAL TEXT , THEN ODD ONE OUT WOULD BE A CAKE BUT THATS THE THING SIR , IDENTIFYING ORIGINAL PIECE SEEMS CONFUSING
philipthomas : If that is the case, rearrange the sentences to form a coherent paragraph, the last sentence will be the odd man.

legend_manas : I HAVE SCORED 100 IN THIS AIMCAT. I COULD HAVE SOLVED 4 TO 5 QUESTIONS MORE IN QUANTS. THEY WENT WRONG DUE TO SILLY MISTAKES. I PICKED UP 3 SETS IN LRDI WHICH WERE DOABLE. HOW TO AVOID SILLY MISTAKES AND MAXIMIZING SCORE IN LRDI?
abhishek : You are doing well. To improve in LRDI take more tests.

namit : IF I HAVE TO COVER ALMOST ALL OF THE SYLLABUS, THEN WHAT SHOULD BE MY STRATEGY FOR THE REMAINING TIME
asim : Take intermediate level sectional tests for few weeks then advanced level for few weeks along with lot 2 material, then move on to AIMMCATs-SA and AIMCATs.

kinjal : WHAT SHOULD BE AN IDEAL SHEDULE FOR THE THREE SECTIONS FOR NEXT THREE MONTHS
asim : Soon we will provide you with a video "100 days to CAT", watch it.

saloni : I USUALLY GET WRONG ANSWER FOR EVEY VARC QUESTION SO IN EXAM HOW MANY QUESTION SHOULD I ATTEMPT OTHERWISE INSTEAD OF SCORING I WILL GET NEGETIVE MARKS AND WHAT SHOLD I DO TO GET ACCURATE ANS I AM GOOD AT BASICS
asim : You need to work on your basics, your performance suggests there is room for improvement, rewatch basics videos, collect your doubts and discuss with faculty members, do loads of follow up practice.

uni : SIR HOW TO DO RC PASSAGES. I GET ALL THE QUESTIONS WRONG
asim : You need to work on your basics, your performance suggests there is room for improvement, rewatch basics videos, collect your doubts and discuss with faculty members, do loads of follow up practice.

cara : THERE ARE SO MANY DILR SECTIONALS, HANDOUTS, STUDY MATERIAL AND SOMETIMES EVEN 1 SET TAKES HALF AN HOUR. HOW SHOULD I STRATEGISE HERE, PLEASE GUIDE
siddhartharora : Try to do one sectional test or a mock or random 4 to 5 sets everyday, now it is time for more practice, even if you take more time. The more practice you do the better pattern you will understand and reduce time for solving questions. Keep a note a good questions and revise them every week.

yashvi : WITH AROUND ONLY 100 DAYS TO GO, WHAT SHOULD BE A GOOD PREPARATION STRATEGY COVERING ALL 3 AREAS FOR SOMEONE WHO HAS JUST BEGUN WITH THE PREP?
abhishek : Start with simple topics in Quant, LR and DI. Example topics can be Equations, ratio, percentages, profit and loss, Arrangements, Venn diagrams, Cubes etc., Table, bar graphs, pie charts etc. Try spending at least 2 hours on DILR, QA and VARC. Start with concepts, then move on to practice and tests.

legend_manas : WHAT WAS THE LEVEL OF THIS AIMCAT AS COMPARED TO THE ACTUAL CAT PAPER?
asim : The difficulty level of CAT changes from year to year, our AIMCATs train you to be prepared for any eventuality.

rakhiks : SHOULD I DO THE BASIC CHAPTER WISE SECTIONAL TESTS OR INTERMEDIATE ONES IN LRDI AFTER SOLVING THE HANDOUT QUES AND SOLVING A EXERCISES IN BASIC STUDY MATERIAL OF BOTH LR AND DI
siddhartharora : A mix of both will be good, choose randomly any one of the same and do so.

ngcbb5q003 : PLEASE GUIDE HOW CAN I IMPROVE THE ACCURACY IN VARC SECTION.
rahulpinnamaneni : Diagnose Your Current VARC Weakness RC: Low accuracy usually means wrong inference skills or misreading tone → fix with deliberate practice on reasoning-based questions. Review each wrong answer → ask “Which line in the passage proves the right answer?” Note why the wrong option is wrong — over time, you'll spot traps faster.

rakhiks : WHICH BOOKLET FOR QUANTS IN OUR STUDY MATERIAL HAS MOST DIFFICULT LEVEL OF QUES BECAUSE TO ME THE BASIC STUDY MATERIAL IS VERY EASY TO SOLVE AFTER GOING THROUGH THE CLASSES AND CONCEPTS
siddhartharora : go with advanced sectional tests and exercise b of SM

cara : SIR I SOMETIMES FEEL DEMOTIVATED SEEING SO MANY SMART ASPIRANTS IN MY CLASS ITSELF. WHAT TO DO
abhishek : It is normal at this stage in preparation. Focus on your preparation and not on what others are doing.

nm : IF I AM SCORING BELOW AVERAGE IN FOUNDATION LEVEL SECTIONAL TEST, THEN ALSO SHOULD I GO FOR INTERMEDIATE/ ADVANCED LEVEL SECTIONALS ?
abhishek : Yes. At the same time try to learn about the limitations you are facing. It is important to go for intermediate and advanced level sectional tests also.

laks : HELLO SIR, IF I SEE LR\DI SETS FOR 1 SET IT TAKE 2 HRS MINIMUM WHAT CAN I DO IN DR ( ALL AREAS ) CHAPTER I AM NOT ABLE TO UNDERSTAND THE SET SIR WHAT CAN I DO
abhishek : In LR and DI, only one thing works. Practice more and more questions.

cara : SIR JUST WANTED TO SAY THANK YOU FOR HELPING A LOT, THESE CHAT SESSIONS HELP WITH MOTIVATION.
abhishek : You're welcome. All the best.

uday : HOW TO PREPARE IF I SHOULD ONLY FOCUS ON QUANT SECTION MORE
abhishek : It is not advisable to focus more on QA. I suggest you must focus on all the areas equally.

laks : IN RC PASSAGE SOME OF THE PASSAGES ARE DIFFICULT TO UNDERSTAND SIR , HOW CAN I IMPROVE SIR
philipthomas : When it comes to very difficult / dense passages , try Reverse Reading.

laks : AND ALSO IN IDENTIFY THE GRAMMATICAL ERROR, IN THIS TYPES I GET MOST OF THE WRONG ANSWERS ONLY SIR, HOW CAN I PREPARE FOR THE GRAMMER
philipthomas : Suggest that you work upon a grammar exercise book - Intermediate English for South Asian students by Raymond Murphy.

dlcbb5aa63 : I FEEL VERY CONFUSE WHILE ATTEMPTING LRDI SECTION
siddhartharora : Try to do one sectional test or a mock or random 4 to 5 sets everyday, now it is time for more practice, even if you take more time. The more practice you do the better pattern you will understand and reduce time for solving questions. Keep a note a good questions and revise them every week

anu : BUT ABHISHEK SIR I AM GETTING STUCK IN SOLVING EVEN THE BASIC CHAPTERS LIKE PERCENTAGES PROFIT AND LOSSEVEN I HAVE STARTED WITH THE NCERT BUT THE SAME PROBLEM I GET STUCK IN APPLYING THE LOGIC ITSELF SO ANY TIPS?
abhishek : Do not spend a lot of time on any concept/point. Learn it and start applying the concepts. I understand the problem with getting stuck to fully understand the problem and the concept. Try to avoid getting too much into the problem which results in wastage of time. My suggestion will be have a question and time target.

saiyam : I'VE ONE MORE QUERY FOR YOU, I'VE SOLVED THE QUESTIONS OF VARC SECTION VERY WELL BUT WITH TAKING PASSAGE SCREENSHOTS! MY PROBLEM IS THAT WHENEVER I TRY TO UNDERSTAND THE LANGUAGE OF VARC SECTION ON RUNNING TIME BUT MY TIME RUNS OUT.LEASE SUGGEST ME SIR SO THAT IAM ABLE TO SOLVED VARC SECTION ON GIVEN TIME.
rahulpinnamaneni : Improve Accuracy in RC Read 1 RC set from a mock or source like The Hindu, Aeon, The Economist. After reading, summarize each paragraph in one line — forces you to follow the flow. Attempt questions. Review each wrong answer → ask “Which line in the passage proves the right answer?” Note why the wrong option is wrong — over time, you'll spot traps faster.

dlcbb5aa63 : I AM IN 3 YEAR OF MY COLLEGE SO HOW MANY HOURS SHOULD I SPEND IN QUANT FOR CAT 2025
siddhartharora : There is no such rule as it depends on you, as to what is your preparation level, how much time you take to practice and how much you get from your studies.

anu : I AM ABLE TO SOLVE EVERY BASIC QUESTIONS BUT AS THE LEVEL COMES TO LITTLE MODERATE OR IF THE QUESTION IS SLIGHTLY TWISTED I GET STUCK THERE
rahulpinnamaneni : Clear case of you needing more practice.

anu : AND MY PREPARATION STATUS IS THAT SINCE ONE WEEK I AM STUCK ON ONLY ONE TOPIC IE PERCENTAGES PROFIT AND LOSS
abhishek : Answered it. Think about it and go for other topics.

laks : HOW CAN I IMPROVE MY LOGICAL REASONING SKILLS
siddhartharora : Best way is to solve 2 to 3 LR sets every day, if it is taking too much time, you can visit the solutions and see where you struck, after a few days again try to solve the same sets to check if you can now solve in less time

a : I HAVE OPTED FOR THE SELF STUDY COURSE IN TIME WITH PHYSICAL BOOKS, MOCK TESTS, AIMCATS AND VIDEO LECTURES. WHILE MANAGING COLLEGE, HOW CAN I EFFECTIVELY UTILISE ALL THESE RESOURCES IN MINIMUM TIME (5 HOURS PER DAY) WHILE COVERING ALL THREE AREAS? I NEED MORE PRACTICE FOR QUANT AND HAVE TO START FROM BASICS.
siddhartharora : For quant start with NCERT class VI to X books, this will help you with basics. Post that watch the videos one by one in order only and keep on solving the relevant topic from SM, in additon to this keep on givign sectional tests for the topics which are done and at least one full length mock per week which includes AIMCAT and AIMCAT SA.

anu : BECAUSE AFTER EARLIER DISCUSSION IN THE CHATS ZI STARTED SOLVING NCERT IN WHICH I GOT FEW QUESTIONS RIGHT BUT IN SOME QUESTIONS I AM GETTING STUCK AND LITERALLY TAKE HALF HOUR TO SOLVE AND ITS EATING MY TIME
siddhartharora : Please read theory and solved questions before solving as the intent is to develop basics and if you are not able to solve questions, that means basics need more time and effort

uday : I AM GOING TO START TO PREPARE FOR THE EXAM FRESH FROM THIS WEEK. LIKE FROM VERY START , GUIDE ME TO HOW TO KICK START AND COVER IN THESE LIMITED TIME AND ANY IMP TIPS TO CARRY OUT AND PREPARE TO GET BEST OUT OF ME
rahulpinnamaneni : Are you a classroom student? We usually discuss this in great detail there.

anu : ABHISHEK SIR I TRIED THE QUESTION AND TIME TARGET BUT AT THE SAME TIME I AM NOT ABLE TO THINK THAT MUCH FAST
abhishek : Have smaller targets first. Gradually increase the number of questions in a given time. Also, don't get stuck to a particular question for too long. Look at the solution learn and move on.

: HELLO, MY SCORES ARE FLUCTUATING BETWEEN 45-65. VARC IS ALMOST CONSISTENT AROUND 30, QUANT AND DILR ARE FLUCTUATING
rahulpinnamaneni : What's your question?

cara : SIR SHOULD I START DOING PYQS FOR DILR FOR BETTER PRACTICE?
abhishek : Yes. You must. However, I would suggest you go for AIMCATs, AIMCAT SAs, Sectional tests(advanced), additional HOs too.

rakhiks : ARE CHAPTER SYLLOGISM,BINARY LOGIC,CUBES THERE IN CAT SYLLABUS SHOULD WE DO THEM
abhishek : It is difficult to answer of the topics are there in CAT. Historically they have been part of CAT. Answering the second part, yes you must do them.

rakhiks : WHAT IS REVERSE READING IN VARC?
rahulpinnamaneni : Reverse reading is a technique where instead of reading a passage from start to finish in the normal order, you go paragraph by paragraph (or sentence by sentence) from the end towards the beginning to better understand the structure and key points. Sometimes when you read an RC in the normal flow, you get lost in details or author’s complex arguments. Reading in reverse forces you to: Focus on the summary or concluding idea first Then work backward to see how the author arrived there Notice logical connectors and structure more clearly

theertha : SIR, WHAT'S THE MINIMUM SCORE OF A STUDENT IN THIS AIMCAT ACCORDING TO YOU?
abhishek : I didn't understand your question.

hycbb : WERE THE QUANTS AND VARC SECTIONS COMPARATIVELY EASY AS COMPARED TO LAST 2 AIMCATS? AND DILR WAS DIFFICULT? ALSO WHAT SCORE SHOULD I TARGET IN THESE AIMCATS, LIKE WHAT WOULD BE THE BAR??
rahulpinnamaneni : Difficulty levels change from AIMCAT to AIMCAT, so pre-deciding on how much to score is a bad way to approach your mocks.

ishita : IN VERBAL ABILITY, WHILE SOLVING Q.6) CAN THE BEST SUMMARIZING OPTION INCLUDE INFERENCES DRAWN FROM THE PASSAGE?
rahulpinnamaneni : Ishita, in CAT’s Para Summary questions, the best summarizing option should capture the main idea of the passage in a concise and faithful way, but it should not rely on new inferences that aren’t clearly supported by the text. Here’s the rule of thumb: Allowed: An option can rephrase or slightly generalize a point already made, as long as it’s logically implied by the passage. Not allowed: Bringing in a new idea, assumption, or conclusion that the author never stated or hinted at. That turns it into an interpretation, not a summary.

hycbb : ALSO FOR RC I AM SOLVING THE MATERIAL, SHOULD I GO FOR FOUNDATIONAL SECTIONIONAL TESTS OR INTERMEDIATE IN ALL 3 SECTIONS, CONSIDERING I HAVE SOLVED MATERIAL TO SOME EXTENT IN ALL 3 SECTION?
rahulpinnamaneni : Complete the SMs first, before you do anything else. SMs + Handouts + Classroom tests and Workshops and Practice Exercises.

theertha : I MEAN WHAT IS THE AVERAGE MARK IN THIS AIMCAT. (A SCORE RANGE WHICH IS DECENT IN YOUR OPINION)
rahulpinnamaneni : These questions can be easily answered by referring to the sectional cutoffs in each AIMCAT.

saiyam : WHERE WE CAN FIND THIS AIMCAT 2613 ANSWER WITH SOLUTIONS??
siddhartharora : On your SHP

mahi : I AM CURRENTLY IN FINAL YEAR COLLEGE BUT I HAVE A BACKLOG, HOW BADLY WILL IT AFFECT MY CHANCES TO GOOD IIM
siddhartharora : It all depends as CAT is not a board exam with fixed weightage to each topic. You never know how many questions will come from which topic and hence your score and eventually your percentile is dependent on various factors. Better is to focus on covering maximum syllabus and focus on learning.

ak : SIR I AM SCORING TOO LESS IN VARC FROM PAST 2 AIMCATS, EARLIER I SCORE AROUND 17-20 BUT NOW I'M SCORING UNDER 10. HOW CAN I IMPROVE MY AIMCAT, SUMMARY QUESTIONS, ODD ONE OUT, PARA JUMBLE, RCS, I TRY SO HARD TO SOLVE THE BEST POSSIBLE SOLUTION FOR ALL BUT END UP IN NEGATIVE MARKS. ALSO HOW CAN I IDENTIFY AN RC IS EASY OR HARD?
rahulpinnamaneni : Daily RC Drill (45–60 min) Read 1 RC set from a mock or source like The Hindu, Aeon, The Economist. After reading, summarize each paragraph in one line — forces you to follow the flow. Attempt questions. Review each wrong answer → ask “Which line in the passage proves the right answer?” Note why the wrong option is wrong — over time, you'll spot traps faster. Parajumbles: Look for: Pronoun links (he, she, they) Chronology words (first, later, finally) Cause-effect connectors (because, therefore) Odd One Out: Identify the “theme” first; eliminate sentence that breaks it. Para Summary: Match the tone + scope, avoid options with extra details. Spend 20–30 min/day reading diverse topics: Science, history, sociology, psychology, business. Not for speed, but for comprehension. Occasionally, reverse read (last paragraph first) to test big-picture grasp.

mahi : I AM CURRENTLY IN FINAL YEAR OF COLLEGE BUT I HAVE BACKLOG HOW BADLY WILL IT EFFECT MY CHANCES TO GOOD IIM EVEN IF I SCORED GOOD PERCENTILE?
siddhartharora : Already responded

cara : SIR HOW TO AVOID GETTING COMPLACENT OVER AIMCAT PERCENTILE, I KNOW IT DOESNT MATTER BUT SOMEWHERE I END UP THINKING THAT I HAVE GOOD PERCENTILE IN ALL AIMCATS IN THIS SECTION SO I STOP FOCUSING ON IT
siddhartharora : AIMCATs percentile is only among the TIME students and based on the test performance on that day. Final CAT will be among a larger pool of students and will based on that day performance. Also, remember many students especially good students do not take AIMCAT as a question solving tool but as a strategy experiment tool and might get low percentile here but will do good in CAT

devansh : MY AIMCAT VARC SCORE IS NOT IMPROVING DESPITE GIVING SECTIONALS AND SOLVING MANY RCS, IN SECTIONALS IM DOING ABOVE AVG
rahulpinnamaneni : Have you attempted Advanced Sectional Tests, SAMCATs and PYQs?

joshi : SIR EVEN AFTER WATCHING APPLYING VIDEO STILL IT BECOMES SOMETIMES DIFFICULT TO SOLVE AVERAGE AND ALLEGATIONS QUESTION
rahulpinnamaneni : You need to spend more time on concept building then.

cara : PLEASE HELP SIR
siddhartharora : reverted

joshi : SIR I HAVEN'T STILL STARTED QUANTS I TRIED THE SOME QUESTION STILL UNABLE TO SOLVE
siddhartharora : Please start from very basics, try to start from SM1002020 or NCERT class VI books

ak : SIR, WILL MY TARGET OF NETSCORE 75-80 MARKS IN AIMCATS WILL HELP ME OUT IN ACTUALLY SCORING 75-80 MARKS IN CAT 2025
siddhartharora : Never target a score. In case the paper comes like CAT23 Slot 1 where QA was difficult than usual, then you will get under pressure thinking you have done bad but actaully the cut off was low as well. So just try to do your best as per the paper level and do not take any target.

joshi : SIR FOR QUANTS SHOULD I REFER 8 TO 10TH BOOK AS MY BASIC IS WEAK I TRIED SOLVING SM100020 QUESTION BUT IN TH AVERAGE QUESTION IT GETS DIFFICULT FOR MER EVEN AFTER WATCHING VIDEO OF TIME APP
siddhartharora : Start from NCERT Class VI books, read the theory first, and then solve the questions.

brinda : SIR, I'M ABLE TO SOLVE ONLY 2-3 RC SETS COMPLETELY..ALONG WITH OTHER VA QUESTIONS..... I'M NOT ABLE TO COMPLETE ALL 4 RC SETS DURING MOCKS. PLS ADVISE...
philipthomas : You are doing fine, do not worry there are 3 months left for the CAT, 3 passages are fine for now , focus on the accuracy, feel free to drop tough questions , this will give you enough time to attempt 4 RCs

joshi : SIR FOR BASIC FROM 8TH STD HOW MANY HOURS SHOULD I DEDICATED AS I HAVE TO FINISH SM BOOKS FOR QUNATS
siddhartharora : Please do class VI to X books irrespective of the time taken, till the time you have not done basics you cannot start with next level

joshi : BECAUSE WHILE SOLVING I GET STUCK OR CONFUSED IN QUESTION THEN IT GET CONFUSINGFOR ME THAT SHOULD I FIRST DO NCERT BOOKS OR SM QUANTS BOOKS
siddhartharora : NCERT should be done first as foundation is made first then building is made

hocd5a375 : WILL WE BE PROVIDED WITH MOCKS FOR OMETS CAT FLEXI BATCH
rahulpinnamaneni : Yes, absolutely.

saiyam : WHERE'S SHP?
siddhartharora : Student Home Page

devansh : MY AIMCAT VARC SCORE IS NOT IMPROVING DESPITE GIVING SECTIONALS AND SOLVING MANY RCS, IN SECTIONALS IM DOING ABOVE AVG, WHAT SHOULD I DO
philipthomas : Try the SAMCATs, these give you a closer feel of the AIMCAT unlike a sectional test.

hycab5a518 : GOOD EVENING SIR, I AM NOT ABLE REACH TILL THE LAST QUESTION DURING THE EXAM, I AM ABLE GO TILL 10 TO 14 QUESTIONS WHEREAS AFTER THE EXAM, WHILE ANALYZING THE AIMCAT WHEN I VIEW THE UNSEEN QUESTIONS I AM ABLE TO DO 5 TO 6 QUESTIONS FROM THEM WITHOUT EVEN VIEWING THE SOLUTIONS, HOW TO VIEW ALL THE QUESTION DURING THE EXAM ITSELF?
rahulpinnamaneni : This is a classic exam-time pacing problem — you have the ability to solve more questions, but you’re not even seeing them because of time allocation mistakes during the test.
