Chat on preparation tips for VA/RC and DI/LR!
(Chat Transcript)

thanmai : I RECENTLY SCORED 98+ PERCENTILE IN VARC, BUT THEN MY SCORE DROPPED TO 40-50% IN THE NEXT MOCK. WHAT COULD BE CAUSING THESE FLUCTUATIONS? ALSO, SHOULD I COMPLETE ALL DILR TOPICS BEFORE PRACTICING? WITH 30 DAYS LEFT, WHAT STRATEGY WOULD HELP ME SOLVE AT LEAST 2 DILR SETS CORRECTLY IN THE FINAL EXAM?
thomas : dilr can be improved only by practice.you will not take so much time to cover the basics of each chapter given as there is very little theory involved. stat doing the sets

anurag : WITH A LITTLE MORE THAN A MONTH LEFT, ARE PRACTICING AIMCAT-SA ENOUGH FOR SOMEONE STILL STRUGGLING?
darshanamishra : Take sectional tests also and analyse your performance

anurag : WILL MORE OMET MOCKS BE ADDED, NAMELY FOR SNAP, AND MICAT (WITH ESSAY WRITING SECTION)
thomas : you will have more mocks gor snap, nmat , xat etc

sb : IS DIFFICULTY LEVEL OF SAMCAT AT PAR WITH AIMCAT? I SCORE BETTER IN SAMCATS THAN AIMCATS AND FIND DI/LR RELATIVELY ON AN EASIER SIDE.
thomas : samcats( aimcat sa) are slighlty easier than aimcats, just below recent cat levels

tush : I AM STUCK AT 50S IN MOCKS AND IN PREVIOUS YEAR PAPERS MY BEST HAS BEEN 70
rajesh : what has been your strategy as of now

naz : SYLLABUS IS STILL NOT COMPLETED..WHAT STRATEGY SHOULD I TAKE NOW.
thomas : take the mocks as and when they ae scheduled. try to cover the topics in qunt before its taken in class and clear your doubts in those topics when that topic is discussed in class

chinu : WHAT IS DIFFICULTY LEVEL OF SAMCAT WITH RESPECT TO CAT
thomas : slightly easier than ecent cat papers and similar to cat papers before covid.

aryan : WHAT SHOULD BE STRATEGY FOR VARC WHILE ATTEMPTING MOCKS AND IN FINAL EXAM AS WELL. I TRY TO LOOK AT RCS FIRST AFTER 3 RC AND USUALLY ATMOST 10 MINUTES REMAIN WHERE I TRY VA
lakshmymenon : Strategy in terms of time management cannot apply to all students - it needs to be customised based on your strengths and weaknesses. 3 passages + all VA questions is more than enough - there is no need to increase your attempts. What is your accuracy rate? If it is high, you do not need to change anything. If it is less than 70 per cent, you need to be more careful in question selection.

sofazzzz : SIR IN THE MONTH OF OCTOBER I AM TAKING 1 PYQ AS MOCK EVERYDAY AND KEEPING SOMETIME TO ANALYSE IT AND NOTE THE QUESTION IN WHICH I GET STUCK AND I AM KEEPING ASIDE THE ADVANCED SM FOR NOVEMBER DUE TO PYQ. ANY SUGGESTIONS ON THIS STRATEGY?
darshanamishra : if taking a mock everyday does not drain you then you can go ahead, otherwise keep some gap between mocks. otherwise it sounds ok

anurag : CAN WE GET SOME MORE DETAILS ON FUTURE MOCKS. FOR EXAMPLE, THERE ARE ABOUT 4 MOCKS FOR SNAP ONLY, SO I CAN'T REALLY GO AHEAD AND SOLVE THEM WORRIED I WILL HAVE NTOHING TO PRACTICE AS THE EXAM COMES NEAR
thomas : all details of the schedule is available in your SHP and will depend on the package you opted for while joining.

anurag : IS AIMCAT-SA NOT WORTH DOING IF YOU SAID IT'S EASIER THAN CAT LEVEL? I AM STRUGGLING WITH IT ANYWAY
rajesh : its not the struggle what has been your mode of practice

pooja : HOW TO CHOOSE FROM THE 4 SETS, IF FINDING IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO SLOVE AFTER READING THE PUZZLE COMPLETELY AND HOW TO MANAGE TIME IN DILR IS 2 SETS ENOUGH TO SCORE ABOVE 95℅ILE
govindrajan : Once you read the initial few lines of a puzzle/DI set, you will get to know what kind of puzzle/DI set we are going to solve. This does not take more than 30 to 40 seconds. Give a quick read to the given data spending about a minute time. Do not try to analyse the information at this stage. Spend a couple of minutes to read the questions and the type of answer choices. In case the questions have "If" conditions, it indicates that we get more than one possible solution. The questions let us know how to use the given information. All these should happen in about 3 minutes. Then start going through the information carefully. While doing this decide which statement to be picked up first and the order in which the other pieces of information are to be used. This way we can have a smooth flow of thought process and take less time to solve.

khushi : I'M STRUGGLING WITH DILR.. THERE IS ONLY ONE MONTH LEFT. WHAT SHLD I DO
thomas : try to spend the first 5-7 minutes in identifying 1 or 2 sets which you plan to do. do not bother about 4 sets and keep in mind that doing 1 set accurately will get you more than 85 percentile and just two sets accurately will get you more than 99 percentile.

sb : I STRUGGLE WITH VARC SECTION IN SAMCATS BUT IN AIMCATS I SOLVE THEM COMFORTABLY. ARE VARC AND SPECIFICALLY RC QUESTIONS DIFFICULT IN SAMCATS?
philipthomas : Do not worry about such aspects . What you need to do is identify weak areas in the form of topics or question types and start doing intense work on them.

chinu : IS IT GOOD STRATEGY TO ATTEMPT ONE SAMCAT DAILY
lakshmymenon : Yes, if you have enough time to thoroughly analyse your performance, especially your mistakes, in one SAMCAT before you take the next. You should also take all the AIMCATs. You can try out approaches in SAMCATs before you apply them in AIMCATs.

vishwa : SIR WHAT SHOULD BE THE LAST 30 DAYS STRATEGY
govindrajan : Revise the concepts in those areas where you are not comfortable. Practice questions from those topics. Take mock tests. While taking mock tests pay attention on accuracy rather than on trying to increase the number of questions that you attempt.

aditi : SIR WHEN I WENT TO SOLVE DILR SETS SOMETIMES I FORGOT I CONDITIONS MENTIONED IN QUESTION MENTIONED AND THEN CHANCES OF MAKING IT WRONG STARTS .WHAT SHOULD I DO?
govindrajan : You need to write down conditions in short form while reading the data. Once you read the last statement in the set, the entire information should be on paper. Do nto skip conditions for later use without noting them down.

: I TEND TO HAVE AN ACCURACY RATE OF 50% TO 60% IN MOST AIMCATS QUANT SECTION, ANY ADVICE ON HOW TO IMPROVE?
govindrajan : Reduce the number of attempts and make sure whatever you answer are correct.

aryan : HOW TO IMPROVE MY RC AT THIS POINT OF TIME. I TAKE 10-12 MINS PER RC IN WHICH I MOSTLY SCORE 3/4 IN MODERATE LEVEL PASSAGE (PYQS). I WANT TO IMPROVE UPON MY TIME TO REDUCE IT SO I CAN ATTEMPT MORE QUESTIONS. 10-12 MINS PER RC FOR 3 RCS LEAVES ME WITH VERY LESS TIME FOR VA
lakshmymenon : If you are getting 3 out of 4 right, accuracy is good. The number of attempts is also fine. The only thing you can change is, instead of attempting all 4 questions based on a passage, try to leave questions you find confusing without wasting much time. Or, mark them for review. This way, 3 out of 4 will become 3 out of 3, and you can use the time you save here to do 1-2 more VA questions. Since your accuracy is good, it may not be a good idea to spend less time in RCs. Analyse your mistakes in previous AIMCATs to understand what types of questions you usually get wrong. Try out question selection strategies in SAMCATs.

hocc4w346 : I'M JUST ABLE TO SOLVE 1 DILR SET IN MOCKS I TOOK ALMOST 30MIN TO SOLVE A SET HOW CAN I IMPROVE MY SPEED SO ICOULD SOLVE 2 OR ATLEAST 1.5 SETS
govindrajan : Once you read the initial few lines of a puzzle/DI set, you will get to know what kind of puzzle/DI set we are going to solve. While doing this decide which statement to be picked up first and the order in which the other pieces of information are to be used. This way we can have a smooth flow of thought process and take less time to solve.

anurag : MY MODE OF PRACTICE HAS BEEN DOING MOCKS AT THIS POINT. HOWEVER, IF AIMCAT-SA IS EASIER THAN CAT THEN IT IS PROBABLY NOT WORTH PRACTICING AND I SHOULD TRY SOMETHING CLOSER TO CAT LEVEL LIKE SECTIONAL TESTS?
philipthomas : The SAMCATs are not easier than the CAT , they are equal to , as they do reflect the CATs of the past years, virtually your question bank.

anurag : IS INTERMEDIATE SECTIONAL TESTS CAT LEVEL OR ADVANCED SECTIONAL TESTS
thomas : intermediate level test are not cat level. advanced sectional tests are cat level tests

khushi : AT THIS POINT OF TIME WHAT IS THE BEST STRATEGY FOR DILR
govindrajan : Practice questions from SM1002515, SM1002213, Workshop handouts, LRPEs, DEX.

sofazzzz : SIR IN LRDI I AM ABLE TO SOLVE 1 SET IN 20IN APPROX BUT IN REST OF 20 MIN I AM NOT ABLE TO SOLVE THE OTHER SET, HOW TO IMPROVE?
govindrajan : Once you read the initial few lines of a puzzle/DI set, you will get to know what kind of puzzle/DI set we are going to solve. This does not take more than 30 to 40 seconds. Give a quick read to the given data spending about a minute time. Do not try to analyse the information at this stage. Spend a couple of minutes to read the questions and the type of answer choices. While doing this decide which statement to be picked up first and the order in which the other pieces of information are to be used. This way we can have a smooth flow of thought process and take less time to solve.

aditi : IN VARC SECTION WHEN I SOLVE, I SOLVE MORE RIGHT QUESTIONS THAN WRONG QUESTIONS IN RC .BUT WRONG QUESTIONS I FOUND ARE IF I SOLVE 6 QUESTIONS RIGHT THEN 3 QUESTIONS WRONG.HOW SHOULD I MINIMIZE MY WRONG ANSWERS.
lakshmymenon : By being more selective with your attempts. If you find 2 options confusing even after carefully comparing them and revisiting the passage, leave the question without wasting more time.

thanmai : WHAT WOULD BE THE BEST TIME ALLOCATION STRATEGY FOR RC & VA TO ATTEMPT MAX QUESTIONS IN 40MINS.
philipthomas : RCs 26 to 28 minutes. VA - 12 TO 14 minutes.

amar : SOMETIMES I SCORE MORE THAN 75 AND SOME TIMES I AM GETTING MARKS AROUND 40 WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME AND WHAT SHOULD I DO TO IMPROVE MY SCORE SO THAT I CAN SCORE MORE THAN 100
lakshmymenon : You will need to find out what is wrong with your approach, by analysing AIMCATs thoroughly. Are you unable to identify tough questions? Are you making too many attempts without focusing on accuracy? IN RC, are you doing all questions based on a passage even the tough ones? Once you identify your specific issues, practise new approaches in SAMCATs and then apply them to AIMCATs.

hocc4w431 : SIR STRATEGY TO INCREASE THE ACCURACY AS WELL AS THE PERCENTILE??
amitpoddar : To increase the accuracy you may need to first of all make the right choices in the exam. Pls develop your knowledge and skills in different areas/topics , so that you have more doable questions in the exam.

123 : HELLO SIR, HOW MANY FULL LENGHT MOCKS AND SECTIONALS TO GIVE WEEKLY FROM NOW ON?
thomas : ideally one every two days. the remaining time should be spend in analysing the mock, in understanding the mistakes you made and the shortcuts you missed.

tush : I'M STUCK AT 50S SCORE IN MOCKS AND IN PREVIOUS YEAR PAPER OF 2022, MY MAX HAS GONE TO 70. BUT AS AN AVERAGE, MY SCORE HAS BEEN IN THE 50-60 RANGE. I WANT TO IMPROVE THIS BUT I DON'T KNOW HOW. MY VARC IS WEAK AND QUANTS IS THE STRONGEST. BUT SOMETIMES DYE TO PANIC, EVERYTHING ALSO DAMAGED. HOW TO IMPROVE MY SCORE. PLEASE GIVE ME TIPS AND A SORT OF A ROADMAP ON HOW TO PLAN THE REST OF THE DAYS.
rajesh : is it possible to meet a mentor at your center

aditi : SIR AS YOU SUGGESTED TO MAKING SHORTNOTES ON CONDITIONS I DO EXACTLY AS YOU SUGGESTED BUT WHILE SOLVING MY BRAIN GETS TIRED THATS WHEN I START TO FORGOT THE CONDITIONS WHERE I WAS HOLDING MY MIND AT THAT POINT OF TIME. ANY MORE SUGGESTIONS?
govindrajan : Cut all the conditions that have been used. Then you will be able to focus on those left out.

khushi : WHAT IS LRPE, DEX?
thomas : there are the handouts in reasoning and di which are discussed in class.

hocc4w346 : ICOULD SOLVE SOLVE ONLY 2 RC AND VA (3-4) Q IN EVERY MOCK IF I TRY TO ATTEMPT 3RC ACCURACY GOES DOWN WHAT SHOULD I DO
darshanamishra : maybe time management is the issue for issue. you may not be left with sufficient time to solve the third passage. try to pick easier questions from RCs and solve them first and practise CR. Also practise VA more and take sectionals.

: ARE ARUN SHARMA BOOKS GOOD FOR DILR PRACTICE
thomas : the material we give are more than enough for practice. you need not refer to anyother material and the material we provide will have all the possible types of qns that can come in cat. make sure that you do all the sets

nidarx : WHAT WOULD BE A GOOD WAY TO REVISE DILR AND GET BACK THE ACCURACY, I FEEL THAT I HAVE LOST THE METHOD OF CRACKING THE DILR SETS. HOW MANY SETS A DAY SHOULD I TARGET.
govindrajan : Go through the basic handouts. There are no concepts or formulae to remember for DILR. It si only proper logical interpretation of the given statements. In basic classes the common errors in interpreting the statements are discussed.

khushi : HOW TO TO DO RC ACCURATELY?
darshanamishra : select passages from subject areas you are relatively comfortable with. Choose data based questions first if any, choose para/word/phrase based questions. Practise CR well so you can answer inference based questions well.

hocc4w346 : IF I SOLVE 2RC AND ALL VA WILL THAT BE FINE IN MODERATE TO DIFFICULT PAPER
darshanamishra : It will depend on your level of accuracy and number of correct attempts

aditi : HOW SHOULD I ANALYSE DIFFICULT QUESTIONS IN RCS TO MINIMIZE MY WRONG ANSWERS.IS THERE ANY SPECIAL TYPES TO LOOK OUT FOR THE DIFFICULT QUESTIONS?
amitpoddar : The question types based on CR are normally seen as difficult. Just practise some CR based questions and try to understand the demand of the question. Try to figure out the difference between your answer and the right answer. This will help you understand your mistakes.

: DOES THE ACCURACY MATTER IN PERCENTILE?, OR ONLY ITS EFFECT ON SCORE?
thomas : your percentile is dependent on only the score, not the accuracy.

hycb4a900 : I'M SCORED NEGATIVES IN LRDI. I'M NOT ABLE TO SOLVE SETS. PLS TELL ME HOW BEST CAN I IMPROVE IN THIS LAST ONE MONTH. AND MOST REPEATED TOPICS SO THAT I CAN GIVE IMPORTANCE TO THEM
thomas : there are no topics which can be termed important as the questions can be from a combination of topics. in your case, it will be better to just select one set and try to do that set slowly and accurately in around 30 minutes so that you will get around 15 marks.

aditi : SHOULD I FOCUS MORE ON SOLVING EASY TO MODERATE OR MODERATE TO DIFFICULT RC SETS?
lakshmymenon : There is nothing called a difficult or easy set. A tough passage may have easy questions and vice versa. If you find a passage readable at one glance, read it in 2-3 minutes, and focus on selecting the right questions. Do not blindly attempt all 4 questions in a set. If you find 2 options confusing even after revisiting the passage and comparing them, leave the question or mark it for review and move on.

pluto : SIR, WHAT WOULD YOU RECOMMEND THE PROPER APPROACH TO RC?, SHOULD WE GO WITH QUESTION AND READ THE PASSAGE OR READ THE PASSAGE FIRST AND COMPREHEND AND THEN ATTEMPT OR READ QUESTIONS AND FIND THE CONTENT IN PASSAGE COMPREHEND AND THEN ATTEMPT? I FALL SHORT IN ACCURACY AND TIME
philipthomas : Reading the passage first is paramount to being able to answer questions with confidence and in being able to distinguish between close options

soonz : HI SIR/MA'AM
rajesh : yes -how may we help you

aditi : WHILE SOLVING RCS SOMETIMES MY FOCUS BREAK DUE TO OUTSIDE NOISE. ANY SUGGESTIONS.
darshanamishra : Practise reading and comprehending better. Less attention span and ability to concentrate could be the problem, espcially subjects areas that are your pain points

: HOW DO I KNOW IF I'M IMPROVING IF EVEN AFTER ANALYZING A MOCK I GET SAME SCORE OR A FEW PERCENTILE DIFFERENCE IN THE NEXT ATTEMPT?
amitpoddar : After the analysis , you need to make weekly study plan and do chapters from the booklets where you are not scoring. Then only your scores will improve.Take sectional tests regularly.

soonz : HI SIR/MA'AM, MY LRDI SCORE JUST FLUCTUATES BETWEEN 7 TO SOMEWHERE AROUND 20. I HAVE TRIED USING VARIOUS TECHNIQUES BUT I AM NOT ABLE TO SOLVE WITHIN THOSE 40 MINS. WHAT WOULD YOU RECOMMEND SO THAT I AM ABLE TO INCREASE MY SPEED. ALSO, I AM SOMETIMES ABLE TO SOLVE WITHIN 7-10 MINS BUT NOT WITH THE TIMER.
govindrajan : Once you read the initial few lines of a puzzle/DI set, you will get to know what kind of puzzle/DI set we are going to solve. This way we can have a smooth flow of thought process and take less time to solve.

soonz : MY SCORE IS CURRENTLY FLUCTUATING BETWEEN 60-90. WHAT WOULD YOU RECOMMEND, SO THAT I AM ABLE TO SCORE 99.5%ILE+ IN THE ACTUAL CAT. FOR REFERENCE, THIS IS NOT MY FIRST CAT ATTEMPT AND I SCORED 99%ILE IN MY LAST ATTEMPT BUT I M TRYING TO RE-STUDY THE SYLLABUS AS I'VE FORGOTTEN A BIT.
rajesh : how many aimcats and samcats have you done

aru : GD EVENING SIR HOW TO REVISIE ALL SUBJECT
amitpoddar : Start with revising all the class handouts and notes made during the classes. Then follow the SM booklets and sectional tests.

amar : CAN WE GET A 99+% AFTER SCORING MARKS AROUND 100 IN CAT EXAMINATION
amitpoddar : Last year at around 75-80 score students got overall 99%ile. This may vary as per the difficulty level of the paper.

tush : NO SIR, I DON'T THINK I CAN COME TO THE CENTER, I LIVE VERY FAR.
lakshmymenon : As an aspiring manager, you should try and channelise your energy towards constructive strategies rather than start panicking. Since you have touched 70 in AIMCATs, you have proved that you have potential. If VARC is your weakest section, please analyse your mistakes in every AIMCAT. Listen to the video solutions and try to identify the flaws in your logic. Also, how is your accuracy? Since your scores are fluctuating, aim for higher accuracy in VARC by being more selective with your attempts. Just because you read a passage, you should not blindly answer all the questions based on it. If you're confused between 2 options even after revisiting the passage, drop the question or mark for review and move on. Be selective in VA too and do not linger too long on confusing questions. Leaving tough questions will also help you stay calm and focused. Good luck!

hycb4a900 : I'M GETTING MORE WRONGS THAN RIGHTS IN RC. HOW TO IMPROVE
darshanamishra : Identify the subject areas and question types you are going wrong in. Practise them more and take sectionals before you attempt full length mocks.

anurag : THE CURRENT OMETS SHOW ONLY A HANDFUL OF MOCKS AVAILABLE. WHEN WILL OTHERS BE AVAILABLE, AND WHEN WILL MORE BE ADDED SINCE IT'S ALREADY MID-OCTOBER
lakshmymenon : They are being updated regularly. You will soon get more mocks for XAT, SNAP, MICAT etc.

anurag : DO TOP B-SCHOOLS ONLY LOOK FOR 99-100 PERCENTILES, OR DOES PROFILE (ACADEMIC SCORE/ EXTRA-CURRICULARS) PLAY A ROLE?
lakshmymenon : A strong profile cannot compensate for a high score, but once you get the required score your profile can be an additional advantage in most B-schools - particularly in the interview.

karthik : HOW MUCH TIME(MAXIMUM) SHOULD I SPEND IN SELECTING THE QUESTIONS/SETS TO DO IN THE LR SECTION?
govindrajan : About 5 to 7 minutes.

aru : IS ITNECESSARY TO SOLVE EACH QUESTION
govindrajan : Depending on your comfort level with the topic you may choose to solve all questions or only a few.

aditi : SIR CAN YOU GUYS CAN HELP IN HOW TO ANALYSE THE MOCKS CAUSE I AM FLUCTUATING BETWEEN 50 -60 PERCENTILE IN VARC. I AM TIME EX STUDENT.
amitpoddar : Revisit the AIMCAT and solve all the questions which you answered incorrectly and also the questions which were left by you in the 1st attempt. Now check the keys and again attempt those questions where you made the mistake. Revise the concepts and practise areas where you need to improve. Make a study plan for the next few days and then again take a new AIMCAT. Do this for all the AIMCATs and even the sectionals.

naz : SIR CAN WE GET MOCKS FOR NMAT ALSO
darshanamishra : yes, it will be uploaded on SHP

sirius_black : SIR/MAM, CAN YOU SUGGEST A BETTER WAY TO ATTEMPT VARC SO THAT I CAN MAXIMIZE THE NO. OF ATTEMPTS ATMOST I AM ABLE TO SOLVE ONLY 13 QUESTIONS IN THE GIVEN 40 MINS. I AM READING THE PASSAGE IN 4 MINS BUT THE PROBLEM ARISES WHEN I AM TRYING TO SOLVE THE MCQ'S I AM TAKING 10 MINS FOR A COMPLETE PASSAGE (READING +ANSWERING) BECAUSE OF WHICH I AM SCORING LESS MARKS.
darshanamishra : If you are taking 10 minutes per passage then your number of attempts should be higher and if you solve them accurately you could see an increase in the score too. Identify the question types you face problem in. CR practice will help

raj : WHAT SHOULD BE THE PREPARATION STRATEGY FOR VARC AS I HAVEN'T DONE MUCH READING YET, SO SHOULD I CONTINUE READING OR SOLVE ONLY THE QUESTIONS?
darshanamishra : Yoou will not be able to solve questions if you do not comprehend the passage. So, practise both

hycb4a900 : FREQUENTLY ASKED TOPICS IN LRDI?
govindrajan : DILR, as such, does not have a defined framework. There is nothing like a chapter or a particular model. It does not involve any formulae or concepts. They test candidates, intelligence levels. You need to build logical thinking skills by practicing as many different types of DILR sets as possible. Lot 2 study material, AIMCAT-SAs and online advanced sectional tests provide good eposure to higher difficulty level puzzles. You may build a systematic approach to sets. Once you read the initial few lines of a puzzle/DI set, you will get to know what kind of puzzle/DI set we are going to solve. This way we can have a smooth flow of thought process and take less time to solve.

soonz : COULD YOU PLEASE GUIDE ON HOW TO SOLVE THE ODD ONE OUT QUESTIONS IN VA? I USUALLY TRY TO MAKE PAIRS AND SEE WHAT'S LEFT TOWARDS THE END BUT I SOMETIMES CHOOSE THE INCORRECT ONE OUT OF THE 2 MOST CONFUSING OPTIONS
lakshmymenon : The approach is right - but instead of just making pairs, do a proper para formation. This is what the question asks for too. Then you can eliminate a sentence which may belong to the previous or next para but does not fit in with the 4 sentences. (do not waste too much time on the order of sentences in this para formation - once you get the 4 sentences that go together, you have your odd one.)

sk : DO I NEED TO FILL A SEPARATE FORM FOR NMIMS AFTER FILLING THE NMAT FORM ??
philipthomas : Yes

sk : WHAT IS THE LAST DAY TO FILL THAT FORM ??
darshanamishra : you will find the dates on their website

devasya : WHAT SHOULD BE THE BEST STRATEGY FOR ATTEMPTING VARC
lakshmymenon : Be selective with your attempts and focus on accuracy. Just because you read a passage, you should not blindly answer all the questions based on it. If you're confused between 2 options even after revisiting the passage and carefully comparing them, drop the question or mark for review and move on. Be selective in VA too and do not linger too long on confusing questions.

muca4aa85 : I AM STRUGGLING WITH PARAJUMBKES AND OUT OF CONTEXT QUESTIONS
lakshmymenon : Para jumble: While reading the sentences, try to identify the tone and nature of each sentence.Try to form pairs by looking for connectives, pronouns, logical continuity etc. Once you have identified the starting sentence or a pair, look for patterns of idea flow such as general to specific, problem/solution, theory/example etc. Odd man: ALWAYS do a parajumble before eliminating the odd man. This is what the question asks for, too. Then you can eliminate a sentence which may belong to the previous or next para but does not fit in with the 4 sentences. (do not waste too much time on the order of sentences in this para formation - once you get the 4 sentences that go together, you have your odd one.)

devasya : HOW MANY MOCKS SHOULD I GIVE IN THESE LAST 40 DAYS ?
darshanamishra : Take all the AIMCATs that are scheduled and keep taking sectionals tests in the areas you are struggling. Identify the pain points and practise those question types better

muca4aa85 : IN DILR WHICH TOPICS SHOULD I FOCUS MORE NOW
govindrajan : DILR, as such, does not have a defined framework. This way we can have a smooth flow of thought process and take less time to solve.

harsh : HOW TO IMPROVE VARC SCORES SIR
rajesh : I would like to know as to the number of AIMCATS and SAMCATS done as also the practice from our materials

soonz : SIR I HAVE GIVEN AROUND 5 AIMCATS AND 2 SAMCATS AND I HAVE ALSO GIVEN AROUND 2 OTHER FULL LENGTH MOCKS
amitpoddar : Good. Take regular sectional tests as well.

vishal : I AM NOT ABLE TO SOLVE ANY QUESTIONS IN VARC
lakshmymenon : What is your problem? Reading speed, accuracy or comprehension?

vishal : HOW TO SOLVE VARC
lakshmymenon : What is your current percentile/accuracy? Where do you need to improve? In VARC, we cannot suggest one approach that applies to all.

vaibbb : IS 15 ATTEMPTS GOOD IN VARC OR SHOULD I AIM FOR 18-20 , MY SCORES IN VARC ARE IN 20-30
lakshmymenon : If your score is maximum of 30 with 15 attempts, please do not increase the attempts without improving accuracy. 15 attempts is enough to get around 98 percentile if your accuracy comes up. Be more selective with your attempts. Just because you read a passage, you should not blindly answer all the questions based on it. If you're confused between 2 options even after revisiting the passage and carefully comparing them, drop the question or mark for review and move on. Be selective in VA too and do not linger too long on confusing questions.

p : MY SPEED IS QUITE LOW, AS I'M ABLE TO ONLY ATTEMPT AROUND 12-15 Q'S, HOW TO INCREASE THAT? I DO READ ARTICLES FOR SPEED.
darshanamishra : Read articles and practise CR questions and RCs overall. Especially subject areas you struggle with.

p : MY SPEED IS QUITE LOW IN VARC, AS I'M ABLE TO ONLY ATTEMPT AROUND 12-15 Q'S, HOW TO INCREASE THAT? I DO READ ARTICLES FOR SPEED.
amitpoddar : Take some sectional tests on a daily basis and analyse all the mistakes you make. Go through the technical words/jargon of different subject matter viz- Philosophy, psychology, Art and culture, literature, etc. This way your speed and accuracy will improve.

vnca4a093 : DO WE NEED TO PRACTICE EXCERCISE (A), (B) BOTH IN LR BOOKLETS?
govindrajan : Yes
