(Chat Transcript)

mahi : CAN YOU SUGGEST THE TIPS TO IMPROVE THE VARC SCORE?
shashidar : Attempt 10/12 Qs to start with, make sure you focus on VA & Direct RC Qs

charan : FIND HCF OF1537 AND 3763
mandar : This session is for discussing strategy, not for doubt solving. Meet Faculty member at your centre to get doubts solved

yash : HII SIR ...WANTED TO ASK ABOUT WHAT IS AVERAGE TIME FOR DOING ANY DILR SET ...AND THIS TIME WILL I FOCUS MORE ON DI PART
thomas : Depends on the difficulty level. If you look at last years cat paper, if you were able to do one set in 10 to 12 minutes (3:in 40) you could have scored around 99.5 percentile. So, one in 10 -12 minutes is an excellent rate

ram : GOOD EVENING SIRS AND MAM, I AM GETTING AROUND 40 MARKS IN AIMCATS. I AM FINDING IT VERY DIFFICULT TO DO MORE THAN 1 SET IN DILR SECTION. HOW DO I IMPROVE MYSELF TO DO MORE?
renufrancis : To solve more than 1 set in an AIMCAT, you need to practice 3 to 4 sets every day. Make sure your basics for each DILR topic are clear. Take 3 to 4 sectional tests each week. While taking the test, spend the first 5 minutes scanning all sets and pick 2 easy ones to attempt first. After the test, check if you picked the right sets. If you stay consistent with your practice, you will definitely see improvement in the coming months.

mahi : WHAT IS THE STRATEGY THAT WE SHOULD FOLLOW DAILY ,
govindrajan : Depending on your availabilty of time, take up one topic from each test area. Go through classroom notes, and practice from basic study material. Every alternate day take online test and a mock test once in a week. Keep a trck of your day to day progress. Do not worry about the remaining syllabus to be covered. A consistent preparation makes thing easy.

muziba : HELLO I’M FINDING THE QA SECTION MANAGEABLE WITH PRACTICE BUT COMPLETELY LOST AT LRDI LIKE I COULDN’T EVEN UNDERSTAND DURING THE CLASSES BUT DO I IMPROVE MY APPROACH?
mandar : I think, practice will definitely help you.

mahi : WHAT IS THE DAILY STRATEGY THAT SHOULD FOLLOW FOR THE WORKING STUDENTS
thomas : Try to put in 2 hrs of preparation during working days. During weekends and holidays it should be around 6 hrs per day and should include writing a test and analysing it

yash : SIR .... I AM CURRENTLY DONE ONLY ARITHMETIC IS IT RIGHT PACE FOR LEARNING
thomas : It depends on when you started and at what pace you cover each topic. All topics should be Ideally covered by July snd the remaining time should be devoted for mocks and revisions

shovontika : GOOD EVENING SIR,
thomas : Good evening. Please post your question

mahi : SIR , WHAT IS THE DEAL TIME TO START THE FULL MOCKS AND SECTIONAL MOCKS
thomas : Try to do the aimcats as snd when they are scheduled. Do not bother about the portions not being over treat the initial mocks as practice to try out different strategies in attempting without bothering about your score

shovontika : GOOD EVENING SIR. HOW MANY QUESTIONS ARE WE REQUIRED TO SOLVE IN EACH SECTION TO GET A MINIMUM OF NINETY PERCENTILE
praveenchandra : There is not a generalized rule. Better you look into the solution and analysis tab of your Aimcat. Generally 8-12 questions puts you safe.

ada : GOOD EVENING SIR/MA'AM, HOW DO I IMPROVE MY SCORE ON LRDI?
govindrajan : Once you read the initial few lines of a puzzle/DI set, you will get to know what kind of puzzle/DI set we are going to solve. This does not take more than 30 to 40 seconds. Give a quick read to the given data spending about a minute time. Do not try to analyse the information at this stage. Spend a couple of minutes to read the questions and the type of answer choices. In case the questions have "If" conditions, it indicates that we get more than one possible solution. The questions let us know how to use the given information. All these should happen in about 3 minutes. Then start going through the information carefully. While doing this decide which statement to be picked up first and the order in which the other pieces of information are to be used. This way we can have a smooth flow of thought process and take less time to solve.

gacbb5a004 : SIR I AM CURRENTLY SOLVING BASICS IN ALL THREE SECTIONS..CAN I SIMULTANEOUSLY KEEP GIVING SECTIONS AND AIMCAT OR EITHER I SHOULD HAVE TO WAIT SOMETIMES.
govindrajan : AIMCATs can be attempted simultaneously. The initial few mock tests should be used to build up startegy but not to check how well you can score. Attempt very few questions in the initial mock ensuring that whatever you attempt are all correct. Avoiding wrong answers should be of top priority. After a couple of tests, increase the numner of attempts. Go for a progressive improvement. By ten or 12 mock tests, you will gain confidence and will be able to build a strategy that suits you.

ada : WHICH TOPIC IS MORE IMPORTANT IN CAT, ARITHMETIC,ALGEBRA OR GEOMETRY?
thomas : It can vary from year to year and none of the topics can be completely avoided please have a look at the previous year cat papers to understand how each topic is nearly equally important

dlca5a350 : A VERY GOOD EVENING SIR
thomas : Good evening. Please post your question

saijal : SIR/MA'AM CAN YOU SUGGEST THE STRATERGIES FOR LRDI AS I'M FINDING THE SETS IN THE MATERIAL DIFFICULT. IS THERE ANY MATERIAL FROM WHICH I CAN WORK ON MORE BASIC SETS FIRST?
praveenchandra : You can do fist 15 questions of 'A' exercise of SM. Then take foundation level sectional tests. Analyze it properly. Revise the questions properly.

harshit : GOOD EVENING, I AM ABOUT TO START PREPARING AND SELF STUDYING. IT FEELS LIKE I'M VERY LATE, IS THERE ANY USEFUL TIPS THAT I CAN USE TO STUDY EFFICIENTLY?
govindrajan : If you have not started till now, for each - Go through class room notes and handout, followed by exercise (a) of that topic from SM and online foundation test. After covering a few topics in each area, start solving online intermediate tests and exercise (b). Take one mock test every week. Your priority should be accuracy while taking mock tests but not number of attempts. Start taking mock tests without waiting for coverage of the syllabus. The first step towards a planned preparation is to identify your strong and weak areas. Spend a day on this. Divide your time in such a way that you spare more time for weak areas and less time for strong areas. You may plan to cover two or three areas each day. If you chose to cover two areas, cover the other two areas the next day. Take at least one online test every day and one mock test every week. Use mock tests to experiment with mock tests to build test taking strategy. Your focus should be to give correct answers to whatever questions that you attempt in the mock test, even if the number of attempts is very low. As you practice you will be able to attempt a higher number of questions with improved accuracy. Do not wait for the syllabus to be completed to take mock tests. Focus on day to day improvement but not on how much more to be covered. Do not compare your progress or mock scores with others. You compete with yourself.

shovontika : SIR, WHAT ARE THE MOST RELEVANT/IMPORTANT TOPICS FOR QA AND LRDI?
raman : You should not cherry pick topics. No favorite topics important topics. Any question that is doable is how you should look at

drcab5a091 : SIR, I'VE COMPLETED THE QUANT SYALLBUS TWICE SHOULD I START SOLVING PYQ'S?
renufrancis : If you have completed the entire syllabus, you can start solving previous year questions. But make sure you have also solved all the questions from your study material (SM). Along with that, take sectional tests of different difficulty levels regularly to strengthen your practice and analyze it carefully,

cat1235 : HI SIR/MADAM, FOR DILR SHOULD I WATCH CONCEPT VIDEOS OR PRACTICE MORE, TO ACHIEVE HIGH PERCENTILE? HOW MANY SETS SHOULD I TRY TO SOLVE DAILY? ALSO, FOR QUANTS, BY WHEN SHOULD I FINISH THE SYLLABUS TO GIVE MYSELF AMPLE TIME FOR PRACTICE AND REVISION?
praveenchandra : 1st you need to revise the lecture you attended on urgent basis.you can with the videos available in shp. Solving new questions along with revision is the main thing. You should take help from solutions and doubt sessions as well.

yash : SIR I AM DOING BAD IN VARC ... FOR RC I THINK I AM MANAGE TO COMPREHEND BUT NOT ABLE TO TICK THE QUESTION CORRECT
shashidar : Your problem is comprehension. I suggest you read each para & understand it in your own words..how YOU would've written it. Then, capture each para in keywords which you should write down in the sheet given to you.

bhanu : HI SIR, I AM VERY GOOD AT QUANT BUT NOT IN VARC, HOW SHOULD I DIVIDE MY PREPARATION TIME AMONG THESE TWO SUBJECTS.
shashidar : Keep practising Specific Qs in RC without reading the full passage, keep practising Jumbled Paras & Sentence Placement in VA. If you master these, a 90%le plus in VARC is guaranteed

drcab5a091 : SIR, WHAT KIND OF ROUTINE SHOULD ONE GO THROUGH TO SCORE 100 PERCENTILE?
thomas : Cat is a comparative exam and no amount of preparation can guarantee you 100 percentile unlike innboards where you can hope to score full marks by studying everything. Anything above 99.9 will involve luck and you can just hope to work hard and hope that luck favours you to get that final 0.1 percentile as in you could get most of the 50 -50 questions you marked as correct

manvi : GOOD EVENING SIR , SIR I HAVE QUESTION RELATED TO DILR SIR SOMETIMES I AM NOT ABLE TO SOLVE THE QUESTION WHICH IS DIFFICULT I TRY TO FIND VIDEO SOLUTION IN SELF ADMINISTERED TEST BUT THAT IS NOT AVAILABLE ON SITE ONLY FOR TWO TEST THAT IS GIVEN SIR PLEASE HELP ME HOW TO TAKE HELP FOR THOSE QUESTION OR IT WILL UPDATED SOON ON SITE ?
praveenchandra : It will update and videos will be made available soon. But meanwhile you can consult your center coordinator for the doubt sessions.

manvi : SIR PLEASE HELP ME HOW TO IMPROVE QA SCORE .
renufrancis : To improve your QA score, first revise all basic concepts topic by topic—especially arithmetic, algebra, Geometry and numbers. Practice 10–15 questions daily(or more) and take 2–3 sectional tests every week. After each test, analyze your mistakes and note down weak areas. Also, solve previous year CAT questions to understand the exam pattern better.

ram : WHEN AND HOW CAN WE CLEAR OUR DAILY DOUBTS?
renufrancis : Please contact your T.I.M.E. Center.

laks : HELLO SIR I AM ATTEND LAST 2 AIMCATS, THE TWO AIMCATS MY MARK WAS TOO LOW, I AM VERY SCARED SIR HOW DO I IMPROVE MY SUBJECT KNOWLEDGE IN ALL THE SUBJECTS, PLEASE GIVE ME THE INSTRUCTIONS SIR
govindrajan : Use mock tests to experiment with mock tests to build test taking strategy. You compete with yourself.

drcab5a091 : SIR, I SCORED 85 PERCENTILE IN THE CAT 24, NOW I'M PREPARING FOR 10 HR DAILY IS THERE POSSIBILITY OF ME GETTING INTO IIM A ,B ,C WITH 99.9 PERCENTILE WITH A PROFILE OF 5/7/8?
praveenchandra : Yes you definitely have the chance. Those 10 hrs. Must be productive. You must study the subjects in the cyclic manner of around 3 hrs each

drcab5a091 : SIR, I SCORED 85 PERCENTILE IN THE CAT 24, NOW I'M PREPARING FOR 10 HR DAILY IS THERE POSSIBILITY OF ME GETTING INTO IIM A ,B ,C WITH 99.9 PERCENTILE WITH A PROFILE OF 5/7/8?
thomas : 99.9 might be possible but you might miss the top iims because your academic profile is poor. You can hope for a few calls among the top colleges if you score that well

khyati : SIR I WANTED TO ASK REGARDING AIMCAT
thomas : If it's regarding a particular question in sn aimcat, it is better to get it cleared by the faculty at your place or to ask the question in the chat meant for that aimcat

samruddhi : SIR WHAT TO DO IF I AM NOT ABLE TO SOLVE ALL THE QUESTIONS OF A TOPIC GIVEN IN MATERIAL.AND EVEN IF I ASK DOUBTS,A LOT OF THEM ARE REMAINING OR REQUIRES SOME OTHER HEAVY CONCEPT THAT I CANNOT ALWAYS REMEMBER WHEN I SEE A SIMILAR QUESTION AFTERWARDS.I CANT MOVE ON FROM A TOPIC LIKE THAT AND THIS KEEPS ME STUCK ON ONE CHAPTER FOR DAYS.WHAT SHOULD I DO?
praveenchandra : 1st you need to revise the whole lectures you attended asap. You shouldn't give more than 5-6 min. Then take help from solutions followed up by solving again. Make sure that the questions you have encountered must be done so as to be sure of solving the same question at any platform.

khyati : SIR I WANTED TO ASK REGARDING AIMCAT , SIR AFTER WE ATTEMPT AN AIMCAT WE GET THE SOLUTIONS FOR THAT BUT IS THERE ANY WAY WE CAN ACCESS THE AIMCAT QUESTIONS AGAIN AS IT IS DIFFICULT TO UNDERSTAND SOLUTIONS WITHOUT QUES
mandar : You can reopen the same AIMCAT, and solve questions

banitha : SIR ANY PARTICULAR STRATERGY I COULD FOLLOW WHILE GIVING A TEST
govindrajan : Use mock tests to experiment with mock tests to build test taking strategy. You compete with yourself.

sayon : SIR MY QA CONCEPTS AREN'T CLEAR AND I CAN'T ATTEND WEEKEND CLASSES DUE TO THEM BEING ON THE WEEKDAYS AND IT CREATES A PROBLEM FOR ME TO ATTEND THEM DUE TO MY COLLEGE TIMINGS. BUT HOW CAN I GET MY CONCEPTS CLARIFIED?
praveenchandra : Talk to your center coordinator directly and ask for the solution.

ada : HOW MUCH TIME SHOULD I DEVOTE TO CAT PREPARATION DAILY TO GET 97+ PERCENTILE?
renufrancis : It depends on your skill level and how much time you can give daily. First, spend quality time building your basics, then move on to practice questions from your study material (SM). Take sectional tests and mocks regularly, analyze them well, identify your mistakes, and plan your strategy accordingly. Stay consistent and focused throughout.

khyati : BUT SIR AFTER ATTEMPTING A AIMCAT IT DIDN'T GET OPEN
thomas : See if only you faced this issue or your batchmates also. In case you are alone, put a mail to time4education.com mentioning all the details

sakshi : HOW MANY QUESTIONS SHOULD I ATTEMPT TO GET 90+ PERCENTILE IN LR, AND VARC
mandar : Honestly it depends on LRDI section difficulty level. But In general, one can attempt 1 set or 1 and 1/2 set with 100% accuracy , with no other negatives, then you can expect around 90% - 95% tile.

muziba : I THINK LRDI MIGHT BE MY TOUGHEST SECTION. SHOULD I BEGIN WITH LR OR DI FIRST ? I WANT TO BE ABLE YO SOLVE ATLEAST 2 SETS ?
praveenchandra : Which ever classes are conducted, you must finish the revision asap. Then go through sm of the same topic followed by foundation section test. Revision is always recommended.

abcd : HELLO SIR I AM FACING DIFFICULTY IN QUANTS, THOUGH I AM TRYING TO SOLVE ALL THE QUESTIONS IN EXERCISE, I AM NOT SURE I'M GETTING A HANG OF IT. WHAT CAN I DO TO GAIN PROFICIENCY?
praveenchandra : You need to revise the questions from your handout discussed in the classes. Take section tests along with analysis.

sakshi : SIR MY QUANT AND DI SECTION IS NOT STRONG, WHAT SHOULD I DO. SHOULD I FOCUS ON MY STRONG AREAS?
renufrancis : To improve your weak areas, first focus on building strong basics, then practice questions from your study material (SM). Take sectional tests and mocks regularly, analyze them carefully, and note your mistakes to adjust your strategy. At the same time, keep practicing your strong areas to maximize your overall score. Consistency and smart effort are key.

muziba : I’M SORRY BUT WHAT ARE FOUNDATION SECTIONAL TESTS AND WHERE DO I FIND THEM ?
mandar : On students home page ( SHP ), log in to your account

jason : HELLO SIR, I AM AIMING TO CLEAR THE QUANT SECTION CUTOFF SO JUST WANTED TO KNOW WHAT WOULD BE THE IDEAL TOPICS TO ACHIEVE ATLEAST CUTOFF.
praveenchandra : Suggestions is not to leave any topic. Go through the lectures of the classes with proper revision followed by atleast concept review questions of your hated topics. Do difficult questions from your stronger areas.

bhcbb5a145 : GOOD EVENING I AM NOT ABLE TO TAKE THE INTERMEDIATE SECTIONAL TESTS OF VERBAL ABILITY AS THE WEB PAGE IS SHOWING THE TEST IS EXPIRED AND NOT AVAIALABLE , WHAT SHOULD I DO?
govindrajan : Send mail to info@time4education. Do not forget to mention your student ID.

pallavi : SIR, COACHING BOOKLETSL EXERCISES ARE ENOUGH FOR 99%TILE IN QUANT???
mandar : Yes, very much
