aniketkarane : Ideally a good strategy is to figure out if you are good at RC or VA. If your strength is VA then attempt it first if RC is your strength then attempt it first. Solve 10-12 questions of RC and 5-6 questions of VA should be sufficient to score well at the CAT or AIMCAT. In RC check if there are Direct questions and try to solve those first.

lakshmymenon : If you're getting about 20 marks , I assume your attempt rate is okay but you need to improve accuracy. Analyse the mistakes in AIMCATs thoroughly - watch the video solutions where the faculty member explains in detail why each option is wrong. Try to understand the flaws in your logic. Work more on question selection- just because you have read an RC passage, do not blindly attempt questions based on it.Take sectional tests and AIMCAT SAs for additional practice. Read a couple of articles daily, and try to cover a wide range of topics.

aniketkarane : Take doubt sessions when you have ample questions to ask the faculty member. If you are taking a one on one doubt session utilize the time well. Try to make a list of questions that you went wrong even though the solution for similar type of question was read before.

aniketkarane : At the CAT you only need to solve 2-3 sets accurately so focus on set selection and depending on the difficulty solve as many questions as possible. While practicing try to solve as much variety as possible.

lakshmymenon : The initial reading of a 500 word passage should not take more than 2-3 minutes. Skim through the passage, mentally summing up the central idea of each para as you read. Then, while answering the question, eliminate the obviously wrong options quickly, and then revisit the relevant part of the passage to compare the confusing options. If you're still confused, leave that question (in mocks). Practice reading articles from sources such as Aeon Ideas with a timer set at a reading speed of 200-250 wpm.
