Past year patterns of JEE
After the 2012 AIEEE and IIT JEE, both the exams have under gone a major make over. The exams have been brought under a single umbrella named, Joint Entrance Examination(JEE). The revised JEE will have 2 tiers - the first one is JEE MAIN (erstwhile AIEEE) and the second tier is JEE ADVANCED (IIT JEE previously). Students have to be in the top 150,000 (including all categories) in JEE Main examination to gain eligibility to appear in the JEE Advanced examination
Till 2012, XII board marks merely had a role as one of the eligibility criteria. But from 2013, XII Board marks are set to play a decisive role in the final merit list of both JEE MAIN and JEE ADVANCED. In case of JEE MAIN, it is 40% weightage to normalised XII Board marks (along with 60% weightage to JEE MAIN score) and in JEE ADVANCED, an aspirant can get into IITs provided he is in top 20 percentile of his XII board marks or score above 75% (70% in case of SC/ST) across five subjects, whichever is lesser.
