The topic “Percentages” holds a crucial place in the quantitative aptitude section of all major competitive exams, such as Bank (IBPS, SBI, RBI), SSC CGL, and Railway examinations. It is one of the most fundamental topics that helps aspirants build a strong foundation in Quant.   

Approximately 2 to 3 direct questions from percentages appear in every Bank Preliminary Exam, and many other questions indirectly depend on it. In total, around 30–40% of the quantitative aptitude section, including DI, involves percentage-based logic.

Percentage forms the base for several important chapters like Profit and Loss, Simple and Compound Interest, Mixtures and Alligations, and Data Interpretation (DI). Without clarity in percentages, it becomes difficult to solve questions in these areas quickly and accurately. 

In Bank Mains Exams also, a large portion of Data Interpretation involves converting numbers into percentages and comparing data. A strong command of percentage concepts greatly improves speed and accuracy in solving DI sets.
