MCA Entrances

MAH MCA CET will be conducted online by State Common Entrance Test Cell (CET CELL) established by the Government of Maharashtra, under Admission Regulating Authority (ARA), for admission to first year/ direct second year (separate division & lateral entry) of three year full time post graduate degree course in Master of Computer Applications (MCA), for Academic Year 2017-18.

Admissions to the following institutes would be based on CET score:

  1. All Government Institutes offering MCA course
  2. All Government Aided Institutes offering MCA Course
  3. All University Departments offering MCA course
  4. University Managed Institutes offering MCA course
  5. All Un-Aided MCA Institutes covered as per the Act

Eligibility Criteria for Appearing to MAH-MCA-CET 2017

(i) The candidate should be an Indian National;

(ii)Passed minimum three year duration Bachelors Degree awarded by University recognized by University Grants Commission or Association of Indian Universities in any discipline with at least 50% marks in aggregate or equivalent (at least 45% in case of candidates of backward class categories and Persons with Disability belonging to Maharashtra State only);

(iii) Studied Mathematics as one of the subjects at (10+2) level or at Graduate level examination;

(iv) For Direct second year admissions, the candidate should have passed Bachelor Degree in Computer Applications or Science (Information Technology or Computer Science);

(v) Candidates appearing for final year of qualifying examination are also eligible to appear for CET.

MAH MCA CET Pattern:

Two online papers viz. General Aptitude (GA) and Computer Concepts (CC) in English Language.

Each paper has 25 questions, with a score of 100 marks each, with composite time of 90 minutes duration. Each question has four answer choices of which only one will be appropriate.

Each correct answer will carry 4 marks. Each wrong answer will carry 1 negative mark. Unanswered questions will carry zero marks.

The examination could be held in more than one session, then the scores across various sessions will be equated to adjust for slight differences in difficulty level of different test batteries used across sessions. Test wise scores and scores on total is reported with decimal points up to two digits.

Maharashtra State (OMS), J & K Migrant candidates

Rs 800 - Candidates of Backward Class Categories and & Persons with Disability Candidates belonging to Maharashtra State only.

Application form processing fees is to be paid through online system only by Credit Card/ Debit Card (RuPay/Visa/MasterCard/Maestro), Internet Banking, IMPS, Cash Cards/ Mobile Wallets for which the service charges, as per rules, shall be applicable in addition to the application form processing fees.

Syllabus:

General Aptitude

The main objective of this paper is to assess the general aptitude of the candidate to pursue a computer applications and software profession.

Areas covered - logical reasoning, quantitative reasoning, high school mathematics, vocabulary, English comprehension and verbal ability.

A good grasp of the following topics of high school mathematics (up to the 12th standard) will be useful: Algebra Co-ordinate Geometry, Differential Equations, Trigonometry, Probability and Statistics, Arithmetic, Basic Set Theory and Functions, Mensuration

Computer Concepts

Computer Basics, Data Representation, Computer Architecture, Computer Language, Operating System basics
