The program covers the school curriculum of the following subjects for the classes VIII, IX and X:

• Mathematics
• Sciences (Physics; Chemistry; Biology)

The course will commence in July and will continue till the student appears for his/her final examinations at school for the academic year.

Evaluation System:

The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Kerala has introduced "Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation System". It is the practice of evaluation put forward for all the subjects', in general, and the skills of a student developed by science education.

The areas which are to be evaluated in Science Education are: 'Experiments', 'The process of experimentation and observation', 'Projects', 'Skills that exhibit a scientific temperament', 'Attitude', 'Outdoor activities', 'Journals', 'The use of library', 'Co-operative tests', 'Self-learning', 'Concept mapping', 'Drawings', 'Problem solving', 'Research' and 'Debate/Group discussions'

The instructional hours per week are 25 hours and they are divided as 5 periods of one hour duration each per day. These periods are utilized for learning the first language, English, Hindi, Mathematics, Sciences and Social studies in addition to vocational training, Art Education, Physical Education, library activities and literary activities.

Material Description:

The list of the material (number of copies) for the classes 8, 9 and 10 is as follows:

Class 8: 6 study material booklets and 55 test papers.

Class 9: 6 study material booklets and 58 test papers.

Class 10: 6 study material booklets and 59 test papers.
